QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 11:52 AM) Again that simply is not based in fact. Hell just the other night he scored 14 of the final 16 points to take down the Badgers. There are certainly arguments against McCamey, but you're going with the wrong ones. He has to close games for ILL because no other player seems to actually want to run the offense. He is basically the entire team at times like that, a very valuable player. Who will take over that role when he leaves is a huge question mark for them next year. -
I am a pretty big fan of the Reds, and most of their fans hated Adam Dunn because their team sucked when he was there. They also put him in the OF which was a ridiculously dumb move. Lucky for them they had an MVP type player to replace his production, otherwise they would have felt the pain.

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Guyer and Chirinos realistically seem pretty old to be considered prospects - though Guyer raked in AA last year. Archer walks a ton of guys. I don't know, maybe the prospects they're giving up really aren't that great. Still think the Cubs probably won't contend this year... but Garza's wrapped up for a few and will likely tear it up in the NL. Still seems like a strange deal for them to make at this time. I guess they don't have the choice of trading their vets to load up on prospects because nobody wants their vets/contracts. Rock and a hard place - tough call on what direction for that club to go. Many Cubs fans are calling it a better package that what we used to get Peavy. So you can bet if it was us trading those spects for Garza it would be a s***-show on here.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) Does Illinois have another Wooden Midseason top 30 guy on their roster? Do they have any other PG on their roster? OSU can handle an off night from Sullinger. Purdue can handle an off night from Johnson. Illinois is dead in the water if you can neutralize McCamey. No one is arguing that he's the only talent Illinois has, that's clearly not true. But you're talking about a PG who runs everything and is the key to the team. I don't think you can say the same about those other guys. Thats probably true and i think I mentioned it earlier in the thread in a non-related note. The initial debate however was who was the most dynamic player in the conference not whose team would take a s*** if they werent there, and I think we all know all 3 teams wouldnt be who they are without those players. Sully is actually one of the first buckeyes in awhile that I've seen a team use a triangle and 2 against. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 12:16 AM) That is factually false but I'd like to see you try to name the "quite a few players" having a better season than McCamey. There are guys that you can argue are having better seasons but there really isn't a single player having a season clearly better than McCamey. Tied for firsts in assists (2nd in assist rate), 9th in scoring (but 5th in TS%), shooting 52% from 3, over 50% from the floor. One could argue Sullinger and Johnson as the best players in the conference at the moment. Sullinger is 6th in scoring, #2 in rebounds and leading the conference in fg%. One of two players avg's a double double. Johnson is 3rd in scoring and 4th in rebounds and also shooting over 50% from the floor. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) There is not a more dynamic player in the conference as McCamey. Are you 100% sure of that? He's a very good player, but there are quite a few players in the B10 that are having better seasons than him. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) I've been there, but I picked the Harrison St Holiday Inn because it's closer to Union Station and the bar. Plus, they have a more casual bar/pizza joint on site. Aurelios. Top notch. I love their buffet.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 04:18 PM) I'll be there. I'm just going to take the Amtrak and get a hotel room. The crown plaza on halsted is pretty close by, plus when the party spills over to Dugans its a short stumble home.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Gotcha. Any idea on what positions I should be applying for. Many people I know stated I should get my foot in the door on the IT or IS side first, even if it's help desk, then work up from there. I've looked for junior DBA jobs, but it seems like they require experience as well. I guess, I should just keep applying and go from there. IT is tricky because they sometimes want experienced people and sometimes they dont because they want to train your habits. I would also check out companies that make or develop DB software or db mgmt software and see if you can get a job there as well.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) Hey Rock, was settling in on the idea of the A5 and then I stumbled across this...mercy... Ebay -2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder I hate you and your perfect vegas weather. Dammit. I drove a Range Rover sport supercharged today and the new Jeep GC. Jeep did some real nice things with that car, but i still feel like spending almost 50k on a jeep is a f***ing rip off. One thing is for sure, I really am going to miss my G. I am going to try out the FX50 to see if maybe that alleviates the slowness I feel with every SUV I drive.

Redhawks looking good so far...Gotta actually play some defense. -
IMO, Wood was known to have issues before last year.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Kind of related, kind of not. Didn't want to make a new thread, but if there needs to be one, please help mods. Anyway, I'm looking to break into the IT/IS industry. I'm currently going to school(only one more year left) for Computer Information Systems with a concentration on Database Management. The thing is, it's tough to break into the industry. I've been looking for a job in IT/IS for awhile and even help desks position request 2-3 years experience for Level 1 support. Anyone got any good tips? Stick with being a database admin, theres alot of money in that for you if you stay with it. Help desk positions arent as stable since alot of people are farming out level 1 support. Keep me posted on when you are done, I may be able to at least steer you in the right direction. I know there are a few other IT people on here.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) BTW, I know it's about a week late, but GO TCU! Told you they could play with anyone in the country. WHo said they couldnt? -
I'll be reading a book with a red rose.

2011 HOF is Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 10:30 AM) is it possibly because he played in the same era as Ricky Henderson? Rock's numbers are great and I agree, he should get more attention for the hall, but Henderson was a similar player who was so completely dominant that with Rock playing in Montreal for a long time he just gets overshadowed Probably. He was incredible as a player and especially a lead off hitter. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) You remember very incorrectly. This stat for whatever reason is going around right now, but it's entirely inaccurate. The Hawks are middle of the pack and until their stars start playing like it (I'm staring you in the f***ing eye, Hossa and Kane) they aren't going to be any better. It's killing me to see how ineffective the 7 million dollar man Brian Campbell is while looking at Big Buff's statistics while manning the blue line this season for the Thrashers. To be fair, ATL runs a totally different scheme for their blueliners that makes them rack up more points. Buff is literally a 4th forward when he's on the ice.

Tim Raines gets no love and it makes me angry. -
All I read was a writer looking for a needle in a haystack to make a point.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) I've got a lot of vices, for whatever reason, that is about the only one I don't indulge in.... Have my strategy down and am willing to walk away from the offer if they don't give me what I feel is fair. Going to ask for an increase of about 35%, which is probably a bit on the high side, but considering they are asking me to give up some perks, including my schedule, take a lower bonus structure (which is going to cost me about $5k a year), and they specifically talked about me doing some work on the regulatory side of things and putting my legal training to work, I feel like it's fair. I'd probably take about a 29% increase, but once you factor in the reduced bonus structure, in gross pay that's more like a 25% increase. That would be well within the range they posted in the listing, and well within the market value for the position. If they won't pay up, I'm going to walk away, because there is another opportunity around the corner that I am more interested in. Good luck dude. I just did that and walked away from my job on tuesday to start at a competitor and my company finally came around today, too little too late. Hope it works out for you.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) I wish we could pull him, but he's going to SC. Karlos Williams has looked ridiculous. On Clowney..yeah, I wish he was actually considering the other teams. s***, his HS team wears OSU gear. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) Funny you mention that....it is very difficult to find salary info in my industry because positions are called all kinds of different things, and there are all kinds of different bonus structures involved and what not. But I did a search and actually pulled up the exact same job at my company. The range it displayed which was fairly small from low to high ($7k), and what I was going to ask for was right smack in the middle of that range. So I suppose I am on the right track. That website is interesting...I had no idea that sort of data was available. Oh yeah, in my profession this is a must. I always check out the feedback from people on that site as well. It helps to know if you are also going to do a drug screen...

#2 CB in the country verbals to OSU, Doran Grant. If anyone wants to see the guy who will be starting for OSU while Pryor is suspended he is playing for the White team in the UA all star game on ESPN. Braxton Miller. -
Look up that specific role at your company on glassdoor.com and it will give you a salary range. Ask for the top end of it.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 4, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Went and test drove the Audi TTS today. Have to say that is a freaking beautiful machine. The A5, S5, and S4 are really sweet. Had to get out of there before I did anything crazy and signed any papers. Definitely can rule the S5 out, because they will chip an A5 for me for about $1200, which makes it performance-oriented enough for my tastes to go with that and save about $8-10k. Very nice cars though, has all the gadgets I would want, like, nav and satellite radio, iPod interface, bluetooth phone, etc. Audi does gadgets very well. I havent driven a chipped A5 yet.
