  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Oct 9, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Illinois will be a Top-25 team next season. Book it, especially if Martez, Luiget and Leshoure come back. Liguet is legit, a very good player. Illinois D line is underrated. And Ben Chappell is overrated.
  2. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) The AL Central is the worst division in the AL. Look how stacked the Yankees lineup is. Berkman is batting 8th. LOL. The Twins were WAY overrated because they beat up on the teams in the central. There record against the AL east was a losing one at 15-20. You can't just throw that out and say this is another year it'll be different in the playoffs. Homefield advantage is also overrated as well. I think it's funny Twins fans want to see Gardy fired because he can't get past the Yankees. Bulls***, the Rangers lineup isnt that good at all. The Twins with Morneau are much deeper than them. The Yankees are basically more stacked than any team in baseball, it has nothing to do with the divisions.
  3. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) By one dimensional does one mean offensive? Everyone sees the highlights of Robinson running 60+ yards with defenders chasing him, but some might be surprised he is averaging about 240 yards passing a game and is completing 70% of is passes. His passer rating is 179.97. I've never been able to figure out what the hell that means, but I know it's high. Look for Michigan to score quickly Saturday through the air. I see MSU trying to crowd the line and Robinson burning them over the top. After that, it'll probably be hold on tight. How often has he gone over the top though? The games I've seen, his passes are short and the WR has broken them for long runs. The bad passes he's thrown have been the deep balls.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) Us: Carl, we offer you 5 years at $60 million. Carl: No Us: Oh well, we tried LOL!!!! Totally true
  5. John Scott is big and all, but he's dreadfully slow. Stalberg however is a legit burner.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) I think we'd have to trade Danks, and as much as I'm a fan it isn't the worst thing in the world because you'd get a decent return for him. But that doesnt free up nearly enough money to sign Crawford. Its probably a third of what Crawford will make.
  7. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Not necessarily. There are other possible moves that will shave enough off the budget to make it work. Rios Konerko Buehrle Jackson AJP Peavy Most likely to be moved or not signed back, AJ and Konerko.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) Why not? He was right and the call already cost his team the lead. May as well try to put some fire in them. Sorry that pitch was right on the black after two pitches way outside got him two strikes. Not sure overreacting that early in a playoff game was the right call at all. He showed desperation on a desperate team in a desperate stadium. I think it was 100% the wrong thing to do.
  9. 1908 Cubs Cubs fans Jim Thome World Series Jinx Twins should have known better.
  10. I'm sure they are targeting every LH bat on the market. If they are going after Crawford that means Konerko's ship has sailed.
  11. Nebraska is like Michigan but with good defense. Tough add to the conference.
  12. LOL Gardy, worst playoff manager ever. Arguing balls and strikes after your pitcher got TWO calls on balls WAY outside the zone and didnt get one on the black inside. Go back to the clubhouse.
  13. QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) If you look at some of the smaller schools in the area, there are scholarships around. I got a pretty good scholarship as well as getting 4k/year from my employer to get my MSA. How do you find those scholarships?
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) It's a few weeks old now. Let it go. ND is 2-3 and deserves to be. There were no bad calls or ripoffs. They just lost close games. Also, their schedule so far certainly is not the toughest in the country to date. Alabama has played 4 BCS teams, @ Arkansas is harder than any game ND has played and they played Florida as well. It's been a tough opening, but it evens out. People hate ND because of their fans and you aren't helping that by complaining that they should have beat Michigan a few weeks and two more losses later. Every team has a game they should have won. Also, having that ND BC garbage on instead of Stanford Oregon makes me want ND's program wiped off of college football. They are a mediocre program getting top tier attention still and that's bulls***. ND isn't special anymore. They arent special right NOW, but they look like they will be good and they still have one of the most universally appealing programs in the country and a HUGE fanbase.
  15. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) RockRaines - would you try a private school in the Chicagoland area? They might pay for it. Also, which MBA is best: Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Strategic Management? I want to try whatever works. I cannot leave my job since its very lucrative, but I want to further my education so make it into executive management someday or even just learn more about business so I can run my own successfully with confidence. Turns out my Psych degree with emphasis on child dev didnt really prepare me all that well.
  16. QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) and you're wrong anyways, they hit very little.. its just the perception people have when the Patriots are brought up.. were talking about a team that has had multiple 1,2,3 round picks over the past 4 years and have very little in terms of impact players from said drafts.. yeah yeah they are a good team, whatever I still hate them.. but they are not the best drafters that's for damn sure.. Well, the GM they just let go has been hitting pretty well for KC so far.
  17. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Wood slats = More better grindy Giant wooden slats are the most uncomfortable seating surface they could have built IMO. Its very strange. I've been to that stadium and although its better than the dome, I still think they really made some bad design choices. I dont get the whole idea of keeping the outfield fans so far from the field, I like stadiums where the first row is closer to the playing surface. And down goes the twins.
  18. Being a new field and all, why would the designers of Target field make the benches wooden slats? Thats pretty dumb. The sox have padded, HEATED benches.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) It ain't easy. At least I worked somewhere I could get part of it paid for. My company just revoked it. They pay for pretty much any other degree except an MBA now. Still i think they only gave us 6k a year. Its f***ing expensive. I was looking at UIC, Depaul, etc and I just cannot fathom how to pay for it. I cannot get a student loan with a full time job at my income level and I cannot afford it on my income.
  20. The yanks are the anti-sox facing the twins. Crain comes in, and instead of sitting 3 down in a row he gets knocked out of the game on a freaking moon shot.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) I hate ND but I wouldn't say they are God awful. Except for Stanford, they have been in every game so far. Its not going to take ND very long to be a good team again. I think they have the coaching staff in place.
  22. Wow, the Twins just twin'ed the yanks that inning. Scored a run on a groundout then a passed ball.
  23. His fastballs were dancing all over the corners today, the Reds had no chance.
  24. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) Seeing as though people might view a Business degree from a liberal arts institution as weak, I may consider going to graduate school for the MBA or just go work at an entry-level job. I have no idea what I want to do for a living, and it is really competitive for even just a sports related internship. I impressed some people at the Quad Cities River Bandits, but I don't think that a bachelor's degree, work experience in sports communication and an internship will get me the job that I want. I couldn't do sales, it isn't in my personality either and I really don't know what I have to offer a company as some of the business courses are kind of bulls***, especially the ones about theory. Jobs I've considered are as follows: paralegal, random non-profit job, a management-trainee b**** at a car rental company, a technician in a hospital, a public relations specialist (which doesn't work well because of my personality) or really anything else. I'm open to a lot of options, I just don't know what to pursue and with the economy I'll just be happy to have a job. The problem is dropping 100k on an MBA. I have yet to figure out how the f*** to afford something like that.
