QUOTE (The Bones @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) The Office tonight was one of the best in a long time. The co-manager story arch looks like it should work much, much better than the horrible Michael Scott Paper Company idea last year. I also like when they keep the episode inside of the office. Looks like next week is the wedding. The preview just reminded me of all the classic episodes from season 1-3 ("The Dundies" "Booze Cruise" "Casino Night"). I don't think it will ever get back to being as consistently good as it was then but tonight's episode gave me hope that it won't be as ridiculously over-the-top as it was for much of season 4 and 5. Also, when's Todd Packer coming back? I would pay to see him crash Pam's wedding. Whoa there tiger. Horrible Michael Scott Paper company idea? That idea spawned some excellent episodes like cafe disco and bankrupt. Absolutely classic moments like finding out that Michael drinks milk and sugar before work every day. The idea itself may have been far fetched, but the dynamic of the MSPC folks was hilarious.

QUOTE (ChiSox @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) The tying goal was not Huet's fault, but he did look pretty bad in the shootout. The too many men on the ice penalty killed what should have been a knockout blow. I am also very biased, but I hate having to watch Huet in goal all season. His weaknesses are known by every team in the league and they will be exploited.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) Aside from standard 5x5 format fantasy baseball reasons, what's the big deal about a guy going 30/30 in 650 at-bats while possibly putting up a low OBP and sub-.800 OPS? It's the Soriano argument. I'd like to see Rios hit 30 homers and have 30 stolen bases in a season, but I hope it doesn't take him 700 PA's and have the same SB% as he's had with the Sox. He's never hit 30 home runs in a season (only cracked 20 once with 24 in almost 700 PA's) and peaked with 32 SB's with almost 680 PA's. I know there is a post in there somewhere, but I was distracted by your hugely biased sig and avatar.

Nice to see Cowley trying to cover his inaccurate comments about Mark being shut down. You are a terrible reporter Joe Cowley, and your readers and colleagues know it.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) Between Huet and Campbell, the 2008 off-season could CRIPPLE this franchise for a very long time. Game 1. Campbell digs-1

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Fanned 9 straight at one point. It's games like these I'm glad I subscribed to MLB.TV. Nolasco and Josh Johnson are f***in' spectacular. I love watching Johnson pitch. He's unreal.

Alex has started to come out of it which I think will carry over to next season. He wont even be a bargain, but he may be worth his pay which is fine with me.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) As an Illini grad, i dont have much to compare it with, as there were only a few games where our stadium could even be considered "loud". I've been to Iowa & ND, but those are smaller and dont compare loudness wise. I would agree, I'd think a stadium like Happy Valley with 100k+ peeps, and many of them young college students, would seem to be louder than a smaller stadium like Qwest, although I guess the stadium dynamics could play in effect on that as well Ok, I was just trying to compare. Obviously I think the Shoe is one of the loudest stadiumds I've even been in, but also Oregon's is supposed to be ridiculous because its build into a hill. I just find pro crowds to be a little less crazy. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) I see your vision and can't argue with it a bit. The only wrinkle I could see is if Forcier is hurt worse than they are saying or if he takes a hit and his shoulder can't hold up. At that point who knows what would happen. True. You also never know what MSU is going to do defensively as they are known to pin their ears back and get ultra aggressive which actually makes them pretty vulnerable to running QB's. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) For all the talk about the 12th man, it definitely was the loudest stadium I ever heard, although some of it is a bit cheesy, like the free sodas for 3 false start penalties. Its amazing how in sync an offense has to be to only have 3 false start penalties when you basically cant hear anything on the field. Awesome road game to be at and thank you Devin Hester for shutting up the 12th man at the end. Definitely a good amount of Bears fans at the game. As long as we dont screw anything up Sunday, will be nice to be 3-1 heading into the bye. The two weeks after, there are road games at ATL & the suddenly relevant Bengals. Also still have road games at SF, BAL & the Vikings this season. They had the rankings for most false start penalties caused since 2005, and Soldier Field was 3rd behind Qwest & the Metrodome. Loudest stadium overall, or loudest pro stadium? I cannot imagine it being as loud as many of the 100k+ college stadiums. -
DWISE is killing the ball today.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) Possibly. It will make it more fun to watch. I remember being in Vegas for the night once (no luggage) and all of a sudden I saw an OSU game on TV. I was like, why would they show this game on ESPN classic at the casino at this hour? Turns out it was that days game. It was like watching a saturday night game in the middle of the day. Pretty awesome.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) I'm going to have to get up on like 4 hours sleep to watch that game on Friday at some location in Vegas. Or just dont go to sleep.

I'll take Milton to be honest. Especially if he is going to be free. I would think sticking it up the Cubs and theirfan's asses would appeal to Bradley.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) Very true. That won't change this Sat., however. If they can outscore MSU, their real test will be the following week on the road at Iowa. MSU does have a defensive minded head coach however. I envision it being close like the ND game. -
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) I'm gonna start P90x. my roommate's been doing it, and he's been pressuring me to do it too. so we'll see how this goes! Good luck.

QUOTE (striker62704 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) I think Sox fans give Cooper more credit than he deserves. If he "fixes" players then why did Vazquez, Aardsma, Masset and MacDougal struggle for us (by varying degrees) and excel else where? Do you think their fans are saying their pitching coach "fixed" them? Why didn't Sisco succeed with the Sox? Sometimes a change a scenery is all that is needed. Sometimes patience, which our organization lacks, IMO. Vazquez is in the NL, where he has always been good. Masset obviously needed to develop and mysteriously added 5mph on his fastball. Aardsma and McD are garbage, they will revert back to their old forms soon enough. -
Field Turf at Soldier Field?
RockRaines replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Yeah this is one negative to the idea, unless as mentioned the field is kept warm during the winter. NIU doesn't have an IPF for football, and I know practicing on the field turf in the cold has been a major issues when we've made bowls 2 of the past 3 seasons because it's painful to get tackled on when it gets below the mid 30's in temperature. Its hard as a rock and cuts the hell out of your skin, especially on your hands which is very painful. The heaters solve this issue for the most part. Another negative is that you need great drainage since the little black pellets will float around in standing water and make the turf very uneven. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 12:02 AM) All that said don't overlook the fact they've played all 4 games at home so far & 89 out of their 120 man roster (walk-ons included) are frosh or sophs. And they havent played a team with an actual defense yet. -
Barker and Soup gave up the scores, but the offense had no legs. Doesnt matter, lets get our legs back before the season starts.

Who should the Sox trade for this winter?

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) I can look into the past where OSU lost to USC at home. It's odd to be confident when the Rose Bowl would be in LA. Forget Penn State, not talking about them. HAHAHA. So because OSU lost to USC they have no chance of beating them if they played them in the Rose Bowl? I like your logic. I hope they do play them again with a season under their belt. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:27 PM) Frankly...I keep thinking the big 10 team has a shot coming in to the game, and then SC just slaughters them. It's happened waht, 3 years in a row now? I would say they slaughtered Illinois 2 years ago, and beat both PSU and Mich the other two years, but yup. They also crushed Oklahoma in 04 before that. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) MSU's QB gives ND the game with two unbelievably bad plays late. Misses a wide receiver with no one within 20 yards of him in the endzone and then throws a pick on the next play when they were well within field go range and only down 3. ND's defense is like swiss cheese.
