  1. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) danks2's k rate.... due to poor pitch recognition/selection, or is it another josh fields-esque "cant catch up to the fastball"? Pitch recognition from what I understand.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) I've learned over the years you just have to let the losing go. Every year you will eventually be disappointed if the goal is to win a World Series. So sit back ,relax , and strap it down. And when we lose get up ,unstrap it, take a deep breath and go spend time with the wife , kids, g/f ,or bff and realize what's really important in life. Well, on avg your fav baseball team will lose 80 games a year. They wont get a hit more than 70 percent of the time. Its a game of failure, people need to realize that.
  3. Oh DeCinces, if only you could have hit that ball in the 9th.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) What's the point in playing him ? Call up Ward or Allen let them platoon with Fields and put PK on the DL. This has to be DL visit. If its what he had last year he's going to finish the year around a .250 BA
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) We're shooting a bit higher with Danks2. His upside appears to be that of Grady Sizemore. I think his median should be around Mike Cameron or Steve Finley in their primes.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) Ya I didn't mean that he did it on the field but I thought that it was directly related to his suicide and not that he was chasing down Kung Fu gangs in Thailand. I didnt mean it like that, but yeah, this was the one. He was Buckner before Buckner was Buckner.
  7. why does Berkman suck against the Cubs now? Dempster is horrible.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Isn't that they game that killed Donnie Moore? He didnt kill himself until 89, but yeah, thats the one. Don Baylor and Dave Henderson did the damage IIRC.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) I think Rockin Robin would be a kickass manager if we went with the youth movement. He's a white ozzie, he talks just as much s***.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) the Cubs are also playing if people want live baseball as entertainment... looks like they're facing a guy from the Astros pen to begin the game In he 1986 game, they were just describing this thing called "on base percentage." Wade Boggs had a .453 OBP, and they were like, I guess thats pretty good.
  11. rain delay entertainment: MLB network 1986 Angels vs Red Sox ALCS
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) It's a little bold, but also sort of telling. I beat the dead horse when the Sox had Gio, saying the reason they never promoted him was because they didn't want to smash his value, as they felt he wasn't a real major league asset. Tony thats an extremely good point there.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) It just backs up the rebuilding plan without saying they are rebuilding. They replaced a broken down Colon with their top prospect. With guys like Glavine and Pedro still on the market, the Sox aren't going to get anything for Colon on the market come July, so why not? To be honest, I do not know how I feel about them promoting their biggest trading chip to the majors to be evaluated by everyone.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Between Q not coming back for a month, and PK being hurt, on top of the RISP struggles, I am Sox depressed. I hardly have the heart to watch this one right now. I've got to be honest here, if Paulie is really hurt, i would be very interested in seeing Brandon Allen get a couple of weeks at the dish, THAT would make me excited.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) It's a freaking love fest on this board today!!!
  16. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 09:30 AM) That's lunacy. I can tell there'd be a LOT of teams out there who would love to have Mike Brown as their head coach. Cleveland didn't make it to the NBA Finals because they're basically a 1 man team. Mo Williams ain't an all-star, West is a good role player at best, Z is quickly declining and Vareajao is nothing but a dirty scrapper. That's Danny Ferry's fault not Mike Brown's. I wonder if they'll go after Boozer if the off-season though, he'd be a very good fit for them down low again, especially if Wallace retires. I will say this, but keep in mind its from just a few games of watching Mike Brown coach in the playoffs, but it seemed like most of the actual "coaching" was being done by his assistants. In huddles during timeouts, making calls as the game was live, etc. Maybe it was just the times I paid attention to it, but it seemed like he wasnt doing quite as much work as maybe Van Gundy
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) I love that you love his love for Viciedo I love your love for his love for the other love for Viciedo's love of mashing
  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) Paul is available tomorrow according to Ozzie. I hope its nothing but a jam. The telling sign will be how well he can get to an inside fastball.
