  1. QUOTE (everafan @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) I think I saw that Morneau is hitting second now. no he's not. And maybe you should check out Alexei's stats in the 2-hole.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) He's got really good bat speed, but don't forget, in most of those video's he's using an aluminum bat, and considering it's a home run derby, he doesn't have to use to standard -3 bat. His bat speed in the home run derby video is very impressive though. If you want to see insane bat speed, Ted Williams still has the most bat speed I've ever seen. Just watching old videos of him, one frame you see him start his swing, and in the next frame, his bat is already through the hitting zone. He's played in several wooden bat leagues and I believe an HR derby as well and still hits for power.
  3. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Alexei Ramirez is one of the worst 2-hole hitters I've seen in a long time. He's better suited hitting everyday 6th or 7th. He seems to be absolutely clueless how to handle a baseball bat once Pods reaches base Alexei in the 2-hole: .287 .350 12 RBI 9bb 14k pretty damn good actually.
  4. I wonder if this thread would be multiple pages if it were a loss thread? Great game by Jose and the rest of the crew. Kong has really taken one for the team.
  5. We all have to remember that Alexei is a rookie at SS this season, he is going to miss some plays, but he has the arm and range to be a plus defender over there and is MUCH better than Beckham is and will be. Now that I see Bacon on the field, I can see he will stick at 3B or 2B based on his range, and really his length, he is a VERY short baseball player.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Dunn, Abreu and Ibanez are making Hendry look silly So is Soriano and his contract.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) Nice win, but... I've mentioned this before, but I'm getting pretty sick and tired of watching Alexei out there. I've been one of his biggest fans and backers the past 2 years, but this s*** is getting old. Since there's not much hope for the rest of the season, IMO, there's no point in not letting Alexei go out there everyday and try and prove something, but I'm getting to the point where I don't think he's good enough to be an everyday player. I would not be upset at all to see Beckham getting a lot of time at SS. Alexei can still be a very valuable utility guy who can play all 3 OF spots as well 2B, 3B, and SS with average or better D. However, I don't think Alexei can be counted on as an everyday player. He tries to hit home runs every AB, and he just doesn't seem to have much baseball IQ (he's a natural player, but he's a bonehead). What are you sick of exactly? His hitting? He's been improving his numbers pretty much consistently this season. He's coming back around, give him time. He will be hitting .290 by the end of the season. He's also a MUCH better defended than Beckham is at SS, even as this is his rookie season playing the position.
  8. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 06:46 AM) He's also dealing with a foot injury also. I'm sure he will pinch hit in almost every game. Exactly, he has the same injury Q has on his foot.
  9. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) Is that "tongue in cheek" or do you know something??? I probably spelled it wrong too, but I think a pen arm could get him for us. He has no place in the Cubs starting lineup.

I have different shampoos and conditioners depending on the condition of my hair to be honest.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) And once he realized that he has one of the most "plus" pitches in all of baseball, and he should use it more. And I think he's started using a few different versions of it in different situations.
  12. We really should have taken this series, but the balls (and umps) werent bouncing our way this series. Lets get hot on the road.
  13. nice to see Gavin's got it back going once he figured out his issues. Simple tempo and mechanical flaw, started throwing strikes and blue hammas. BA looked good today as well. Big Jim Thome is on a roll.
  14. Gavin Floyd y'all. Looks pretty good once he corrected his posture and tempo huh?
  15. Good job by that fan, but the guy next to him needs to be delivering an elbow to Anderson's face.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) I kid you not...the scouting report on Granderson when I faced him in high school was to not throw him first pitch fastballs. We'd always just throw get-me-over curves to get ahead in the count. He was sitting on the bench and said to Thomas, I told you I was going to hit the fastball. I honestly have no idea who called that pitch, but it was stupid. Little slider to him and he beats it to Fields.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) But what if you feel that they really should be traded for the benefit of the organization, no matter what happens on the field? Last Saturday, Jenks was throwing 91 mph against the Indians, and the same things were being said. I agree with your general point though. In KC he was hitting 97. He's an elite closer, you trade him only if you are in White Flag mode, which i dont think is coming. We need to keep Bobby for at least 2 more seasons.
  18. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) Sad thing is, he threw the pitch AJ wanted, right to where AJ's glove was Who calls these pitches, Cooper? AJ? It was lower and more inside than what AJ wanted. His fastball tailed directly over the plate.
  19. Come on people, when a player messes up stay away from the "trade him now" stuff. It happens.
  20. I literally sat there and said to my TV, first pitch slider gets him here Bobby. Sure enough he was in swing mode and anything other than a fastball probably gets a ground ball.
  21. Holy s***. Gavin throws a ridiculous slow bender to Thomas then follows it up with a tight snapper. unhittable.
