  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Can we get rid of Kenny and hire someone from the Twins organization. I could only imagine what they could do with a sizable payroll to work with. Seriously? I'm sure he had a direct correlation with us losing to the A's. You were probably singing his praises on the last road trip.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) If Tyler Hansbrough were black, he'd be a top-5 pick. He's vanilla in everything about his game regardless of his skin color. His upside is as a bench role player, I dont know who in the hell would waste a top 5 pick on that.
  3. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) I've said it before, but I think Gordon Beckham IS Dustin Pedroia with a little less speed, and a little more power. The mental makeup seems very similar. GB is a doubles machine, and before too long, should be our leadoff hitter. I'm expecting Pods to either get hurt or fall off dramatically, BTW. I disagree, he MAY hit 2nd, but our future leadoff guy is probably Danks2
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 08:31 AM) What do you think Fields future holds? How much longer is he a White Sox. I personally dont think they give up on him, they have invested alot of time and energy trying to make him into our 3B. I think he sticks around for awhile, especially if Becks moves to 2B. I think Josh will figure it out to be honest.
  5. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Props to the members that knew, some specifically said he's coming up this week. (RockRaines) Its unfair cause some folks had inside info. Its too bad for Josh Fields, I really think he's a good guy, a good clubhouse guy, and a guy who wants to succeed. He was hitting better these last few games and I still think with consistent playing time that he could be a solid regular. Unfortunately for him, he has a future star right behind him.
  6. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) So I cut my ear a bit with my razor earlier, it's been bleeding for over 90 minutes. Not bad, but it won't stop. Any suggestions? Stiptic from walgreens or put some salt on it.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) The difference in tonight's game is that the A's are crushing every bad pitch made, and we're not getting hits on the numerous bad pitches made by Outman. We're going to see some nasty relievers tonight from the A's with Bailey, Wuertz, etc. Well, that and the fact Clayton couldnt get anything over the plate other than his straight fastball which every player in the majors can hit.
  8. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Eh, thats like saying "He's playing great!! Well, except he's doing terrible at the one 'skill' he supposedly possesses..." He's been pretty good as a leadoff man for us. .276 .337 6BB 7k
  9. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) called pods will be starting when quentin comes back. Why wouldnt he? He's more valuable to this team than Brian is at the moment, would you be leading BA off if PODS sat?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) Great news...Murphy was one of the worst radio personalities ever. ^^^^^^^ He was terrible, absolutely terrible.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) So how long is it going to take for multiple posters to trash Kenny for not coming up with a better package to net McLouth? Not trash, but I would have liked him on our team playing CF and leading off. He's better than anything we currently have and better than most on the open market.
  12. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) You're first sentence is entirely incorrect. Apparently, since I'm adamant about my loathing of Ozzie's mismanagement, that must mean I never appreciate anything good he does. That's what you think? That's incorrect. I'm sorry if my disapproval outweighs my approval. In your eyes every manager's good moves make him a great manager no matter HOW stupid his managing is overall? No, I am just realistic to know that there are zero managers that have ever managed a professional baseball team that didnt make mistakes. ZERO. Ozzie will make mistakes but on the whole he is a good player's manager who gets more out of his team than most expect. He makes mistakes all the time, but every other manager in the game makes just as many if not more than Ozzie. And to insinuate that YOU could do a better job pretty much ruins any credibility you may have had on the subject. You are a guy leisurely watching baseball from your couch, there are managers of HS, college and minor league teams that are better at their job than you would be and they arent even close to as good as Ozzie.
  13. I have entire draft box sets from every sport for several years, probably worth zero now. Rose, Ripken, Jordan rookie, probably nothing compared to what they were. Dammit.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 03:06 PM) Would you like to point out to me where I said Jordan was a dirtball? Sorry, "less sporting".
  15. They have pretty bad swings, I think it was Sharpie I saw last night that was taking some good cuts. I liked it when Paulie and Ozzie were talking about putting Alexei on skates.
  16. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) He's referring to me. I'm not saying Ozzie shouldn't ever be commended, I'm just fed up with people who have to change the subject, defend Ozzie pointlessly and can't just ADMIT that Ozzie makes a lot of really COLOSSAL f***ups. He makes a few mistakes, but thats the only time YOU notice Ozzie and therefor you think that all he does is make mistakes. Its pretty clear in both your arguments and your lack of supporting facts. It would probably be more effective just to put your thoughts on Ozzie in your signature and leave it at that....wait you already have that, forget it.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) He's not an ace in the NL either. True. I personally think he would be a mid 4's to 5 ERA in the AL.
  18. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) barons are a fun team to follow, even without slayer. I hope shelby gets hot, i think he could be good From what I have seen of him, I dont think his swing will translate to the majors.
  19. I still prefer Beam Club seats, but you can blackout just as well in the Scout seats. Insider tip: They stop serving booze to the general public in the 7th, but you can usually get them to sneak you a few after, or get them to pile you up several rounds before the cut off.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) I guess they changed their minds on Thome sitting. Good, I'm pretty sure I'd rather have Thome hitting right now than Wilson hitting right handed
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) It was just a gift from his mom. Nevermind the fact that she couldn't afford a Honda Civic brand new, much less a Hummer. As far as Jordan, he punched his teammates because they mouthed off to him and even tried to swing at him after he yelled at them not being prepared. Maybe that's why he became the best. He demanded excellence from his teammates, even if they were crappy scrub players. Shaking someone's hands though after tehy beat you fair and square is unsportsmanship. Beating up your teammate because he won't learn a play or two is much different. Heck, I wish Jordan was still here to do that to some of our current players. Jordan was a complete f***wad to teammates that he perceived as lazy. He HATED Stacy King's fatass for a long time. That was why he ended up so great and why the guys around him were perfect to win titles. He pounded those guys everyday in practice, in the huddle, on the plane until they were just as fired up as he was, then they played better. In fact it was the teammates who stood up to him that he most respected like Bill Cartright, John Paxon, Horace Grant.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Yes, I know it is crazy, but I find acts of violence less sporting than not shaking someones hand after a series. If you like, I could just punch you, but shake your hand afterwards if that would make you feel better. If we agreed to scrap, I would more than welcome a couple of shots and I would shake your hand afterwards as well. Your story just isnt accurate regarding Jordan, he didnt go up and assault his teammates. Do you think that Olin Kreutz is a dirtball too? He broke his teammates jaw.
