  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) Hafner with an absolute bomb to tie the game. yeah that ball was grooved
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) Why in the world would you pitch Danks on 2 days rest? i wouldnt, but my guess for the sox logic is that its a scheduled bullpen day for johnny
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) Jhonny homers, 2-1 Twins. nice....baker with 67 pitches already too...hopefully they can get into that pen early
  4. great effort from clayton tonight...any sign of trouble ozzie has to have DJ ready
  5. how have we not scored yet? 55th pitch from hughes coming up
  6. love em both...watch both religiously and pay attention to meaningful scores from both on a daily basis...alot of my friends think march madness is the best time of the year...but nothing comes close to early fall IMO.... there was a time in my life where i enjoyed college football more than pro football, but i think its the other way around now...especially early in the season with all the crappy matchups...i know USC OSU was a good game (or at least it was supposed to be good) but when the second best game of the day is Wisconsin vs. fresno state...yawn....conveniently college football gets better when baseball is over
  7. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) At least the Yankees aren't trotting out anyone either. What's the over under on this game 14? according to this its 9.5....if i was a betting man id take the over http://www.thespread.com/mlb-baseball-top-...-trends-ma.html
  8. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) Isn't Neal Cotts available to pitch? heh that basically got jerry manuel fired
  9. a question that is equally relevant IMO is who is our other lefty out of the pen? it seems as if thornton will be the 8th inning guy regardless of matchups now...but what happens if a starter is at 100 pitches through 5.2 innings, we are up 4-3 with runners on and mauer and morneau are due up.....i sure don't want to see boone logan and horacio ramirez has been dreadful ....i suppose richard heads to the pen after todays start for the rest of the year, but hes not who i want to see out there either...im a bit disappointed we didnt at least get a look at poreda out of the pen this september, even if it was just in blowouts...at least see if the kid can help
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:08 PM) I've also heard that said about Vazquez. Perhaps Javy has said in the past that he doesn't like to go on less than normal rest? Because there's no data to back up the theory that he sucks on short rest. The guy has made 2 starts on 3 days rest in his entire career. The first start came in his second year in the league in 1999 so it holds little relevance to today but he went 6 innings allowing 5 R, 3 earned and took the loss. The other came in 2004, he went 6 allowed 2 runs and K'd 8 but of course took the tough luck loss. That's 2 starts, 12 IP and a 3.75 ERA. So either Javy has stated that he doesn't like to go on short rest or someone looked at his numbers on 3 days rest, saw that he hasn't won a game and drew up a conclusion. i could be completely wrong, but i know i remember someone on our staff saying he doesn't like going with extra rest...not sure if it was javy who said it or not
  11. BP has us at 87% chance of winning the division
  12. ill be happy with 4 innings 2 runs from clayton....i hope ozzie has him on a short leash with DJ ready to step in....it would be nice to pound hughes early....if minny looks up in the third inning and sees that its 5-1 good guys and they are facing cliff lee they will be feeling some heat
  13. minny has to face... cliff lee (1st in AL in ERA) james shields (9th) edwin jackson (T-30th) scott kazmir (would be 9th with enough innings) andy sonnanstine (T-30) Javy Vazquez (23) John Danks (5th) Mark Buerhle (19th) Have fun with that stretch
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:43 PM) Jackson for Philly is an idiot. Easily a fumble. lovie and hester need to watch how andy reed uses him ...though he is a complete idiot and was easily a fumble
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) What did Jackson do? flip to espn...they are reviewing it now.... had an easy breakaway TD...flipped the ball backwards just before he crossed into the endzone it looked like
  16. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) 2 out. with casilla mauer and morneau up, i have a bad feeling about this 9th inning in cleveland
  17. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) He has? just seems like other guys in the past have gotten alot more attention in the national media for poor years..
  18. how has travis hafner completely avoided the steroid suspicions?
  19. anyone else want to absolutely destroy the person at this game who keeps making that noise...sounds like two metal rods being banged together to the "duh duh duh dadadad lets go" thing
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) At least the Sox starting pitching has looked good recently. Im pretty sure Ozzie just couldnt burn his bullpen after yesterday, so he was trying to see if Wasserman could get the job done. Sucks that we are tinkering at the end of the season but right now the Sox are running on fumes. They just need to make the playoffs so that they can go out there and put the best relievers in every game and not worry. If Linebrink, Thornton, Jenks and hell even Dotel were available tonight there is no way Wasserman pitches. We just need to some how get through this. And McDougal getting some outs, where was he to start the 7th, at least he has some stuff. yeah actually if we make the playoffs i think the bullpen will at least be better seeing as how we can use thornton carrasco and jenks every game if need be...still though...gotta get there
  21. good monday night football game at least
