  1. uribe you idiot take that off your shoulder
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Cy Marcum being promoted already in the 3rd inning by Hawk. Any chance we get no hit tonight? with swings like that from anderson? yes
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) KW yeah, i actually like cooper....theres absolutely no reason why greg walker should have a job if we are still doing this on O by the allstar break
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) I just pray they fire all 3 of the buffoons if this team tanks this season. walker ozzie and.......kenny ? cooper?
  5. i hate mlbtv...it always has so many problems...though it looks as if maybe i dont want to be watching this game
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) Marcum's got a pretty wicked cutter he throws inside on righties. If our guys aren't aggressive with 2 strikes, we'll see a ton of called 3rd strikes. yeah i havent seen a whole lot of marcum but this offseason some scouts said he may have better stuff than burnett and halladay.... could be a long night...but just watch this is exactly the type of guy we will crush
  7. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 2, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) Anderson with another start, he needs to keep it up. even with our solid start so far, if anderson keeps it up i really hope kenny looks to deal dye if he can get a decent package of young players later on at the deadline
  8. i believe turnbow was the first guy caught after mlb implemented its steroid policy
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 2, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Can someone give us a brief scouting report on Russell from baseball america... http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/pros...res/265457.html
  10. i assume that this takes into account what they did in chicago...for instance...tom seaver doesnt really count right? or does he...he played for the sox, but did very little for them...but in terms of the clubs history, he was the best pitcher that ever pitched for them...so do i put him ahead of someone like fergie jenkins, who overall may have been an inferior pitcher, but was far superior when it came to playing time in chicago?
  11. Poreda through 7 so far...3 Hits 1 R 0 BB 4 Ks......12 ground outs, 4 fly outs
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 1, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) I read WGN had a replay of him flipping a water cooler over after Braun's double. Just reading the play-by-play seems that Soriano and Fukudome should of had both those balls (Note: I have not seen the plays, just going off what the "in the cubicle" from chicagosports.com said) ive been listening to the score and am1000 and it sounds like they shoulda gotten to em...especially soriano
  13. wow i was following the game on gameday in the library....went to go get a coke, in the bottom of the 8th...came back to see the final...beautiful...sounds like pineilla had some gems after the game too
  14. i know it would bring alot of PR trouble (is any pub bad pub though?)...but if bonds would be willing to play 4 times a week and be available to pinch hit he would be absolutely perfect for this team. He could spell Dye against tough righties (if he can play left, which could be troublesome) with CQ playing right. He could spell Thome against tough lefties (.268/.463/.535 vs. LHP last 3 years for bonds, .209/.325/.344 for thome, which is awful). not to mention he would be a dynamite pinch hitter off the bench to hit against tough righties. On days he doesn't play he fills our glaring need for a lefty guy with pop off the bench. As much as I hate the guy (which is alot), he would be a great fit on this team.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Cy Zambrano? not if cy webb can do anything about it
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 1, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) I'll believe Dempster if he can keep it up throughout June. As of now, I don't believe it. Just for trivial purposes, there was a reliever turned starter last year who put up a 1.91 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 18/10 K/BB and 2 homers allowed in 5 starts, 33 IP in April last year. He ended the year with a 4.94 ERA. I'm not saying Ryan Dempster is Braden Looper by any stretch of the imagination, but I am saying I wouldn't be surprised if his year end line looked like that. Pretty similar numbers to be quite honest. if dempster can keep it up for 2 starts he will have a shot at making the all star team, because the cubs begin a stretch from may 12 to may 28 of arguably the sorriest offensive schedule ever over a period of 16 games.....san diego for 4, pittsburgh for 3, houston for 3, pittsburgh for 3 more, and the dodgers for 3... even beyond that htey get the offensively struggling rockies for 4, then out to SD, and LA where hitters go to die....then they finally start playing the big boy league and the NL east
  17. i thought the national league was going to be better this year...its not, its worse....arizona is damn good, but beyond that all of those teams in the NL west are subpar....san diego cant hit a lick, the rockies were the biggest 25 game fluke maybe ive ever seen last year and they cant pitch either, san fran is 13-16 which should tell you something, because that team is god awful...LA is average NL central...cubs are a good team, milwaulkee is a pretty good team, stl is bad but playing well cuz they beat up on the other NL teams....beyond that the bottom 3 are bad to beyond bad the east is the best of the divisions...the mets phillies and braves are pretty solid teams....washington is terrible and florida is bad the AL is so much stronger, and now that the DRays Os and royals have climbed into respectability, the only bottom feeder is texas...the AL just doesnt have nearly as many of those teams that should be an automatic series victory, and probably a sweep like washington, san fran, pittsburgh, cincy and maybe even houston i know i sound like sour grapes right now...and thats because i am, im just so sick of guys like jeff suppan who get run out of the AL and become #2s on decent NL teams, then when the cubs (who i will give them credit, have a legit offense) pound them...my idiot cub fan friends give me crap about it
  18. probably rob bell must be broadway to take massets spot....not that masset has done THAT poorly, but broadway has been so good so far
  19. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) he wasnt pitching from the windup... aj could really use some strike zone management lessons or not
  20. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) he should've taken off on the second pitch, nathan pitching from the wind up too, well... maybe not the wind up but has a very high leg kick he wasnt pitching from the windup... aj could really use some strike zone management lessons
  21. right about now would be a good time to have owens on this team instead of alexei
  22. good god...just throw jermaine sliders away and its a guaranteed K
