  1. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) you can share this with me if you want the jury is still out overall, but if this continues.....nobodys got more of that on their plate than pratt.....he has a whole buffet line of that to eat
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) He was my AAP, and I'd like to say I was just waiting for this. From the moment we traded for him. i thought he could be a decent pitcher in time...but for this year i was thinking he would be a league average starter or so...a decent 4-5 type pitcher...a 10 win 4.7-4.8 type guy...
  3. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) You know, Floyd still has a no hitter. I think it's already the third time this season he's taken a no hitter into the 6th. That's pretty amazing. quality starts in 5 of his 6 games...and he gave us a chance to win in the other with 6 innings 5 R against the yankees...hes been way better than anyone could have expected
  4. not sure what it is, but the sox/cooper/gavin himself have really changed floyds fastball...it was straight as an arrow when he first got called up and he threw it down broadway and got lit up....his 2 seamer moves all over the place now and it runs to the corner nicely...
  5. carlos has had a ball pop out of his glove two or three times...gotta squeeze those
  6. in college i knew a guy who was more of a rival than a friend, and he was from philly and he came up to me after we traded garcia and was like "thanks alot for freddy....enjoy having gavin floyd" yeah i wish i could talk to him now
  7. i forgot about adam everett....juan uribe may not be THE worst offensive player in the AL
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) I said it two weeks ago as I dislike Cabrera I also said in February that Azrizona would be the best team in baseball if RJ came back. It is hidden in Trade winds. Go Sox. Great Episode of Wonder Pets on Noggin why can't these kids fall asleep. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64246 or even if you prefer... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1541097
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) It took Hawk 3 batters to complain about the umpiring. with just cause though the first two pitches to mauer were right down the pipe
  10. floyd has thrown 3 strikes to mauer and not one of them was called
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) There's 4 guys on the Cubs roster I'd rather have at 2nd base than our jokers (Theriot/Cedeno/Fontenot/Derosa). soriano #5 for me... pujols just got an absolute cookie from marquis with 2 on and 1 out and grounded in to a DP...
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) Just terrible Jermaine! He looks so lost. I wish Anderson was playing instead of him. i bet he has struck out on low and a way sliders 10 times in the last half week
  13. crede just missed the best pitch we will porbably see all day
  14. the toronto radar gun has to be off....no way that slider is 92 ....halladay is good and has good stuff but they have had his 2 seamer at 96...i think the gun is a bit juiced
  15. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 3, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) Whaaaaaaat? Seaver as the greatest? http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...-best-pitchers/ lol i dont know either way...they were both good
  16. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) It's time for a fan reality check about what is a short term fluke and what is REALITY. Dye is not going to rise from the ashes to become any where near the threat he used to be, he got old and slow and cannot hit a 91mph fastball to save his life Konerko exactly the same, each yr of age has made him worse not better and we're expecting more than he's capable of, all at 15M per year, yuck Uribe, I could write a page, he has absolutely not place on an MLB roster, and it reflects SOOO poorly on mgmt that they brought him back BA will be a career .170 hitter, it's just not going to happen people Thome is old and limited, what we see now is who he is today as a player The rest of the team I'm good with, but the Sox are just too dependent on clutch hitting from three marquis players who cannot produce and two that just should not be on the field. It sucks, because this is our 08 team, and that's not going to change for 6 more months minimum Fields need to be on this team everyday, even if it's as the second basemen, CANNOT be any worse, regardless of any other tradeoffs, than having Juan pop up and whiff EVERY SINGLE time a single from him would bring in 1-4 runs!!! this is a pretty good post...its entirely possible that dye konerko and thome right now are just not 3-4-5 hitters and that they got old relatively fast....uribe is so bad its comical...good baseball teams address situations like this 2 years ago, the fact that he is still on this team is truly a disappointment..... the only 1 part i dont agree with is on BA...i think he could still be a solid big leaguer...great? no, but a good defneisve CF who can hit .260 or so...id like to see some power though
  17. jon lieber making lou look good...then again why is he not in the rotation ahead of marquis again? and why are the cubs so down on sean marshall? he was 7-8 with a 3.92 last year...i know he rarely got past the 5/6th but still he gave them chances to win i thought
  18. QUOTE (scenario @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) Anthony Carter went 5 innings tonight: gave up only 2 unearned runs, on 5 hits, 8 K's, 0 BB's. Drops his ERA to 1.36. And Carter now has 37 K's and 4 BB's in 6 starts (33 innings). hmmm i dont know much about carter....whered he come from? hes not exactly young, but hes not really old for that league either...if he continues to succeed he will have a good oppotunity to advance.... looking at his K and BB numbers from earlier in his career....looks like this kid may really have figured something out
  19. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 2, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) LOL. Paulie is way too young for anyone to be "giving up" on him. JD I still have a little hope for, although I think he's past his best years. And as much as I want to, I can't get very excited for Thome anymore. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm past the point where I expect much from him anymore. im certainly not giving up on Konerko, but if people are waiting for konerko to be the paul konerko of 2004-2006...i think they will be sorely disappointed... oh and can i please squash a false statement that goes around on this site alot...konerko hasnt always been a slow starter....the two years he made the allstar team he was dynamite early in the year...that one year i think he had 22 HR at the break (the year he was in teh derby)....inconsistent? yes he always has been very streaky, but not always just a slow april type guy
  20. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ May 2, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) Last year? Okay, how about the years before that? And it's too early into the season to start comparing statistics. Paulie has always been a late starter. Plus, as far as I know Kotchman is not as good defensively. you mean those years before when kotchman was hitting like .370 in AAA and was establishing himself as a top 5 prospect in basbeall...also showed promise initially after he was called up and then got hurt? actually the story sounds eerily similar to a certain OF we now have kotchmans legit...id take him over konerko everyday of the week at this point in their careers....especially considering money
  21. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 2, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) Crede is what he is. A .260 type hitter that will hit close to 25 HRs. OC really needs to get it going if this team has any hope in competing this year. Maybe put some pressure on opposing pitchers with guys on base for Thome,PK and JD. here is what is worriesome Thome is 38...theres no guarantee hes gonna hit above .230 this year (he should, but couldnt he have a mcgwire type finish to his career) ...guys (especially non roid users) usually fall pretty hard pretty quickly...Konerko has always been said to have a body that looks 4 years older than he is and he doesnt have the same bat speed he used to...he and dye are on the downside and its a real possibility that they are honestly a couple years from being done...ditto cabrera on that... that said, swisher should certainly be hitting...but beyond that...im pretty worried that these guys actually arent gonna start to hit, because frankly they are nearing the end of their careers
  22. a ground ball up the middle and a bloop hit was all we could muster...pathetic
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ May 2, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) No clue what he was waving at on that last K. same s*** hes been waiving at the last 2 weeks
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) And also that our 3rd baseman is hitting near .250 with 5 errors. yeah crede has regressed to his mean basically...unfortunately josh isnt exactly tearing it up...
