  1. good god that was beyond obvious that ball was OVER THE PLATE and he leaned into it
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) For us, he's been about as good of a super sub utility guy as we can ask for. He's not a gold glover at any position with the bat, he's not a dominant hitter, but if he was any of those things he'd be a regular somewhere. i agree that hes been solid...and i will probably get torched for this...but i feel like its been as much of a fluke as anything....i know hes fast, so he will get IF hits, but hes a below average defender wherever he plays, he isnt a patient hitter, doesnt hit for power, and i feel like his average being high has been a fluke...his value lies in the fact that he is fast and can play multiple positions....which ramirez can also do
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Lethargic offense....no one likes Ozuna more than I do, but he's become useless on this roster with Ramirez on it. I still don't think he's recovered. i appreciate what pablo has done for us...but as an organization from the manager to general manager to announcer, pablo gets way too much credit...and quite frankly...hes not a very good baseball player...and yes i realize he hit .328 in 06
  4. Niemann has great stuff......but he needs proactiv or something
  5. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) Im not sure who sand the Laffy Taffy but if theyre not on the list the list isnt valid. haha D4L...agreed
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Ugh. I just threw up in my mouth a little. No. Josh Fields is a 3B, the only other place I'd want to see him play is 1B. Or DH, even. But not arbitrarily shuffled around defensive positions because we think his bat is just that valuable. whats the harm of trying him there at AAA? Stunting his defense at 3b for a few games? i think its worth taking the risk...if he can play an adequate second base (he played SS a few games for charlotte last year) then i think getting his bat in there would be a big upgrade of uribes.....i wouldnt have a problem with just tryin it in AAA for a couple weeks and seeing what we could (or could not for that matter) have
  7. its funny because in a gamethread about a week ago big bobby fell to the ground, and i was only watching on gameday,....fathom joked that an earthquake was felt in chicago....i replied "anymore on that?"...people naturally laughed at me because fathom made a joke, but i said i thought maybe the new madrid had gone off, because some geologists say its a ticking time bomb... til someone explained to me what happened during the game....kind of a bit of eerie forshadowing i suppose
  8. dear jim halpert and pam beasely....Friends called, they want their show back i dont know maybe i need to rewatch it, but this was the second straight episode that i thought was very meh...the funniest part was when the person at starbucks kept calling michaels name...i dont know, i know jim and pam are written for the female audiences but their whole love fest thing detracts from the show IMO. While i think kevin is funny, i thought he was a bit too ridiculous yesterday and it seemed like his "kevin voice" was a bit too pronounced and a little out there.
  9. now if they can only try fields at 2b in AAA
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) Thom... And yeah, this is a freaking joke. Cubs fans have become ridiculous. Your team is playing well and lose one game and you endanger your outfielders by throwing tons of baseballs back? no it was marty, not thom
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) This is exactly what I was thinking after the game. I think, even though we lost tonight, it's more encouraging to see Floyd pitch the way he did today than had he s*** the bed and we had pulled out some 9-8 win. It sucks, but tonight was very encouraging on several fronts, including both Quentin and Joe (nice to see him snap out of his mini-funk he was in). As for Bobby, the pitch selection didn't get him as much as the actual pitch did. That breaking ball he threw to Roberts was quite a bit more flat than the one he made Jones look foolish on. If he throws the sharp curve, the best Roberts can probably do is barely get a piece and foul it off. Bobby will be just fine. yeah bobby left the curve ball up and over the plate...when its 0-2 youd like to see it low and out of hte zone...i mean tonight markakis hit a ball 2 inches off the plate for a HR, they scored on a couple errors and then bobby stunk a bit....it stung not to win, but hey we lost, like you said more to actually feel good about than bad about from that game...move on to tomorrow
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 11:02 PM) Yep, I've debated typing this after the game, but here it goes: I would rather the Sox lose tonight, given that Floyd was great, instead of winning 10-8 and Floyd going 3 innings and allowing 5 runs. yeah i mean i was upset because we lost a winnable game...but i take solace in the fact that we lost because of our defense, and frankly that is something that just won't happen very often this season...tonight was just one of those games that is gonna happen every so often in a given year...get em tomorrow...niemann and vazquez
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) How fitting that it was on a hanging offspeed pitch? woulda been more fitting to have it been on an error
  14. QUOTE (DonnyDevito @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Big out right there, way to pitch Boone! need a ground ball now
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) had both 0-2 then walked them thatll make a pitching coach mad
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) We just treated Millar like he was Albert Pujols. i believe it was the matt stairs treatment... WTF that looked like a strike on 0-2
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) Is Masset dead or something? no, he just stinks
