  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) I'm not that familliar with pitch grips, but I think a circle change gets it's name from the formation of a circle by the Index finger and Thumb on the side of the ball. -- McCarthy's change Looks like McCarthy gets his middle finger to be part of the 'circle' too. Whether that makes it a screwball, I don't know? yeah bmacs is a variation of a circle change, its similar to a screwball in the fact that pressure is applied to the left side of the ball. im not sure how the ball comes out of brandons hand, or if he snaps a particular way with his wrist. judging from his grip he probably rolls it off his ring/pinkey finger. Its possible to even flick outward with his pointer/middle which gives the ball more spin and would tend to move more like a screwball
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) The NESN broadcasters just thought B-Mac's change looked like a screwball. hmmm.....well his grip is quasi screwball, but it moved more like a typical change down and actually broke away from the righty on that last pitch....espn showed it on kzone
  8. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Can we give him 4 because he plays so many positions. youkilis was just worked over......change up, curve ball, fastball, curve ball, change up
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) There's a huge difference between getting picked off because you've already started running towards 2nd to steal compared to getting picked off because you didn't get back to the base in time. Superb base runners should be better than that. blum for gold glove
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) Man on 3rd no outs against a guy tossing meatballs, and NO RUNS. f*** timo wow
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) Why would you even bother leading off the base so much? he looked lazy going back to teh base too, like he was in no danger
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) f*** you scott Podsednik! I want a real left fielder completely inexcusible to be picked off there.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Pods gets the walk. Looks like our hitters have just got to lay off on Curt's splitter for the majority. Big AB here for Iguchi. Can't GIDP. f***
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Pods can't strike out looking here. if pods runs herei dont even think they will throw down there
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Pitching change? will steve phillips please stop slurping schilling
  16. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) That would be quite sweet. Although, so would any game against the Twins. id love to celebrate with us winning and clinching on their field, not like 2000 where we lost on their field but still clinched
  17. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) :headshake look at bmacs grip on the change, htats a hell of a pic, whoever took it
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Hermida, Murton and Young. pretty damn good company.....you can really only argue for chris ahead of murton, and even tehn its a push, murton had the higher average, c.young has the brighter future though.......
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) Very happy about Sweeney. IMO this guy is legit and I think he'll be the White Sox RF full time after Jermaine Dye's contract expires. Sweeney is playing with a cranky wrist and yet he's finishing very strong, playing good defense, and being consistent. At age 20 and handling AA it shows he's got a very bright future. except that whole lack of power thing
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Leo for Prez! follows in credes footsteps....not a good thing
  21. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) this is what i emailed him Mr. Mariotti, Please stop trying to shake things up in this city. Everyone knows your recent article on how the white sox could blow it is simply to get everyone peeved. Remember that "Sox won't choke" article you wrote? Well your article today not only proves Hawk Harrelson is right when he says you're a hypocrite, but you keep personally attacking him in your columns. To be honest, the arguement you and him have over the broadcast and through your columns couldn't be more Junior high, both parties included. You guys both bicker back and forth taking whatever jabs at the other you can like two 8th grade girls fighting over a boy. Please, all I urge is that you stop trying to make the last page of the suntimes a breeding ground for controversy in this town. Oh and quit doing the point finger thing on Around the horn when you score a point. we know you scored, congrats you beat woody paige, HUGE accomplishment. so yeah heres how mariotti responded.....direct quote....maybe hes the one who should take some grammar courses Um, why are so angry?
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Pablo is a good hitter double digits is nice for a change....hopefully now we wont go like 5 games scoring 2 runs a game......carl damn
  23. QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) After Wednesday's performance against Texas, I just decided to revive this thread. Ozzie and Co. are already talking about a 6-man rotation for the rest of the season, and if McCarthy stays on the roll he's been on since fixing his arm angle, they may start considering him for a postseason role. shies away from personal attack
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I tried sending him a well written email where I didn't insult him, nothing like that, just stating some facts which I disagreed with and why, his response to me was: You're a sox fan, I'm not, get over it." i sent him one once saying that all he ever does is bash teams specifically the sox, and he was like "wow dont you remember the andy MacFail article on the cubs. i bashed them too. what do you want me to say rah rah ree go sox?" hes just a plain dickhead
