  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) I must be watching a different game, because he's throwing that change-up a ton. He's kept the Rangers hitters off-balanced all night. ive been in and out of the game, what has impressed me most has been the location on the express
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Garland's clearly pitched better this season than Buehrle against the top teams. i thoguht that last back doored him, tough call
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) I am not seeing the game, but can anyone explain why McCarthy has been this dominant tonight? Is he finally using his changeup? great breaking ball tonight, every fastball is on the black, havent seen much of the change Edit: or not as hawk says he has been using the change lol
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) 57 ah yeah my bad
  5. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) LOL!! No s***, I thought u were exaggerating. i think johan is number 54 also lol
  6. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) LOL> i think pablo has the best avg. on this team. Haha. a johan santana look alike entering the game now
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) This isn't a shot at Widger, but why would you ever throw Soriano a 3-2 fastball? He'll chase anything close. With a 5 run lead, it's understandable though. didnt chase the 2-2 breaking ball the pitch before
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) He's good. cancel the postgame show
  9. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) It's official: Hutchinson gone http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines brutal, so you mean to tell me that this team was prepared at teh QB position? apparently in teh offseason hutchinson could back up grossman, but now he cant even back up orton. this front office i must say did a decent job this offseason with mushy, but please. this is a joke. we shoulda signed jeff garcia or kurt warner or someone
  10. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Rickey Henderson? i actually have gone on record to say that scotty is overrated, but the most overrated is not right. i dont give a damn that he doesnt hit homers either, but i will say, that ppl in chicago especially i believe overrate him some. but top spot is ridiculous
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Stud makes the pickup. After 1, 2-2 wow, buerhle reminds hawk of catfish hunter? never heard that before
  12. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Heres an idea to through out there for all of you people who want Griffey so bad... Our offense is one of the worst in baseball no doubt... It's time to give the Reds what they really want. It's obvious that they are holding out for a front line pitcher.... If it's true that Mark Buherle cleared waivers then give make the deal.... Mark Buherle for Ken Griffey Jr... Even if Mark can manage to step up in the playoffs it's going to do us no good when we're scoring only 2 runs a game... I like Mark as much as anyone but if the Reds aren't just going to take prospects then it makes more sense then going into the playoffs with such a pathetic lineup... Even if Brandon sucks it hard for the rest of the year as a 5th starter at least he can be moved into the pen for the playoffs... Anyone else have any thoughts on this? um in a word nof***inway. id rather have a good starter who has the ability to shut another team down than a guy who might hit 2 homers in a series mark would also have to clear waivers, which i doubt would happen
  13. QUOTE(alexgtp @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) ah man i was a big karko fan.. he had a cannon arm!! and that red hair ....LOL!! quite possibly the ugliest player i can remember, solid guy tho, and a rock behind the plate
  14. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Furcal > Konerko. Not sure if it will play out where we get Raffy but you gotta figure its a one or the other situation. Here's a question and I don't even know if he's a free agent and people here seem to hate Darin Erstad but would you rather have Konerko/Uribe or Furcal/Erstad? If we got Furcal and Erstad we will have gone from having no leadoff hitter before this year to having about 4 which is kind of funny. i actually happen to think erstad solid. just overpaid right now. man if we got erstad would rob neyer realyl hate us or what
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) your point would be valid if BMac ever had good numbers in the minors. The only time he has ever been good is the three week stretch in spring training. :headshake he led the minors in Ks last year and had something like a 7:1 K:BB walk ratio. he also was second in the minors in wins last year. to say he hasnt ever had good numbers outside of spring is not true. i could see the arguement that he hasnt done it at a high level, but he did have good numbers
  16. so change your signs?? make fastball a curve, make inside out, then change it back. then make a changeup a fastball. then chage it back again. this is stupid and could be prevented
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) When is the actual deadline for this one? Is it midnight on the 31st, or is it some time during the day like the last one? compare griffeys numbers to those of david ortiz. griffey .302 .371 .578 33HR 90 RBI 30 2b ortiz .295 .389 .580 33HR 115 RBI 36 2b pretty damn similar. i know griffey is older with a bigger injury risk, but put him at DH for the next 3 years and that risk is greatly reduced. if im KW i would be willing to take on nearly all of griffeys contract in order to get him. Ortiz/manny is top 1-2 punch in AL, sheff/arod is second, and i think PK/griffey would be 3rd best. just think of how ortiz changes teh way the pitchers pitch when we were playin the bosox, and think about adding something similar in griffey. to me, with our pitching, it instantly makes us favorites in teh AL. KW has to offer more money to take on this guy

    8/28 Games

    QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Haeger seems to be really really good or really really bad. Either way hell of an outing for him. thats commonly how knuckleballers are, if its knuckling look out, if not it could be a rough outing....... anyone else find it funny that the charlotte lineup suddenly looks good even compared to our current lineup? pods, harris, brown, toca, gload borchard, burke, cassanova and reyes isnt all that much worse than when ozzies lineups look like when he plays teh bench guys on a side note only another 396 more ABs til ryan sweeneys next homer
  19. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) He really seems to just absolutely make things up...and he is respected by all these stations and networks...unreal. my brother sat next to one of the am1000 producers friday night at a wedding. he said that bruce levines source within teh organization are often kenny williams himself. kenny leaks a few things out to him, but i personally dont think he makes the crap up. besides what you have to remember, is the amount of talking and potential trades that being talked about at any given time. you gotta realize that if he reports that there are intense talks between two teams, that damn near all of them dont end up coming to fruition anyways. its just how trading is, alotta talking and not alot of acting
  20. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) at this rate our starters arms will fall off come playoff time one of a few bad games all year. it sucks and id like to see freddy do well, but i remember for the past few years we had been getting games like this (under 5 IP, lotta runs) it seemed like once a week from someone. now its more like once a month
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Kudos for quoting on of the greatest movies of all-time. husband???? what was all that 1 in a million talk
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) BASERUNNING SB: Borchard (5, 2nd base off Bannister, B/Hietpas), Harris 2 (10, 2nd base off Graves/Hietpas, home off Graves/Hietpas). was it like sizemores? or was it a double steal type thing

    102

    QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Most scientists will tell you that 102 mph is physically impossible. so you mean to tell me its scientifically impossible for a ball to go 102??? please explain to me the science behind that. jenks hit 103 in puetro rico, and even his former agent who dislikes jenks now said he wouldnt deny the fact taht he actually did hit 103
  24. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) "Jerry, this is Mr. Costanza. Steinbrenner's here, George is dead, call me back." "How could you trade jay buhner??" "ken phelps. my people were telling me ken phelps, ken phelps"
