QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) It's looking like he'll get his call up. I hope so. im bettin he gets about 1 inning before the sox clinch (If they clinch). after that he can pitch just about every inning of every game for all i care.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) Have a night Brian Anderson!!! Congrats big man. Just a little request for Ozzie, could we play Brian against a human pitcher once in a while? His 4 starts have been against Radke, Santana, Randy Johnson, and Felix Hernandez... COME ON?!@?! whats even funnier is that the white sox just sent a huge F U to jeremy reed. anderson with a huge game had to have reminded reed why the sox traded reed in the first place. helluva job brian

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) I'd take my chances on a young, inexpensive Bobby Jenks over an aging, expensive Billy Wagner. No disrespect to Wagner, but Jenks has as much potential as Wagner ever had and Wagner could start to lose some of his effectiveness due to his age. yeah the money is the main issue why i wouldnt sign wagner, especially for more than 1 year. but i still wont pencil bobby in for the job. its dustins to lose next year with jenks waiting in the wings. to be honest, id actually love to see neal get a shot too. i know its a small sample size (91 ABs) but a .121 average vs. righties is unreal. throw in the fact that hes only 25, and alot of lefties will simply get themselves out against a good left handed pitcher, and neal could be a real special pitcher in teh back end of the pen (rotation even?) for a long time to come

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) I take it that wasn't for me, but rather for daa's post? Yes, I've seen him pitch. He has "IT"! However, I like our chances better against him than I did against Johan. It's not like Hernandez was unhittable in the minors. However, if we go to the plate swinging at everything he throws, we're not going to have a productive offensive game. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

QUOTE(supersuicidedoll @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) Have you seen this guy pitch? If you didnt know that Felix was a rookie, you wouldnt think it by watching him. He just doesnt get flustered, nor makes mistakes, he keeps all of his pitches down..he has a nasty 12-6 pitch, his fastball is not even his best pitch! wait a second.....you mean to tell me that you have seen felix enough to know that he doesnt make mistakes????? show me a pitcher who doesnt make mistakes. look im as big of a baseballamerica junkie as anyone, and i am fully aware of king felix's capabilities. to say that anyone doesnt make mistakes on teh mound is just not a smart statement to make. he could very well dominate us, i understnad that. but people on here are acting like we have no chance at all, and i simply will never say that any pitcher, especially a rookie, is a lock to win a game. by the way, yes i saw felix pitch twice thru mlbtv. so i have seen him pitch.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) So will be interesting to see whether or not the Sox are in the Billy Wagner FA sweepstakes, or if they just turn the closer's job over to Bobby, although I'm sure Dustin will say something about that. id love wagner, and ideally the sox should go after him, regardless of jenks or dustin. but wagner is gonna be the permier closer out there and will command at very least what benitez got and i believe that was 3 years 21 mil. no way the sox give him that

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) Love the Jenks. And he signed my hat! And who doesn't binge drink between 19 and 23? I did and still do...yippee. not only that, so many of these guys do various kinds of drugs, and s*** like that never gets published. i think the funniest thing about jenks is that when he met his now wife he never told her he played baseball til they were dating for like 2 months because he wanted to make sure she wasnt dating him for that reason. my kind of guy

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) It depends on the opponent, and on how these guys finish up. I don't think Buerhle should be pitching game 1 if they are playing Oakland. 1993, McDowell started Gm 1, and he did win the Cy that year, but at the time both Alvarez and Bere were pitching much better than him. Ozzie remembers. i agree with the ride the hot hand strategy too. especially when no single guy is THAT much better than the others. what is beautiful about this rotation in october is if someone gets in trouble in say the 4th inning, you can bring in a guy who has the ability to dominate in contreras, or a guy who is one of the best postseason pitchers in the history of the most storied franchise in duque, depending on who is being saved for game 4. add in teh fact that jenks is proving to be effective for more than one inning, and if one guy even starts to look like he will struggle, we have some troops in reserve

pretty good write up. i love how he capitalizes "His Stuff" Jenks history is certainly going to always follow him, but he cant let it haunt him. i wish the article would have mentioned that anaheim used him solely as a starter, but maybe their eventual goal was the pen, since most bullpen guys in the majors started in teh minors. to me the fact that he can overcome adversity is a good thing. besides ive said it before, what impresses me most about him, is the fact that he is pumped out on the mound, but keeps his cool. he uses that adrenaline the right way, and doesnt mess around like someone like carlos zambrano. i like a character in a bullpen arm anyways. there is a certain energy in the stands when he pitches too. he could be great if he keeps it together edit: remember all the people sayin baj shoulda gotten teh call over bobby? i dont think anyones complaining anymore

QUOTE(bulokis @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) How is Sean Burroughs at 3rd? Maybe a change of scenery will do him good. Insurance if Crede continues to falter. Did you not catch the 1992 and 1993 little league world series???

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) I dont understand how this is a debate, even about who is the best pitcher etc. Its a simple numbers game. MB-2.99 1.16 JG- 3.28 1.16 FG- 3.54 1.23 Thats the order of the first three starters, and it should not be altered. Those are your three best pitchers in order. AS far as the 4th game, that is the only debate. I would go for the count because his stats are better, but El Duque may step it up in the playoffs, but for now, the top three are set. i wouldnt mind seeing freddy in game 2, simply because hes been there before and he will probably be pitching in the day. even with garlands exceptional year this year, i still am a little more leary when he is on the mound, at least more so than freddy

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) ^ honestly, that's exactly how i feel. If there's any game to not go nuts over our lack of O, this is probably it. you guys are nuts. i dont understand how you can possibly conceed a loss, to a ROOKIE pitcher. yes, top prospect in baseball aside, hes still 19! who knows whats gonna happen if this guy makes 1 mistake in teh 1st and it gets jacked. please, if there was any game to not go nuts over our lack of O it was against santana, a proven stud, not a guy who should be a stud. i mean, yeah im looking foward to seeing him play, but to automatically regard this guy like hes bob gibson circa 1968 after hes only had 4 games in teh bigs at age 19 it is not only stupid but insane. the way ppl on here are talking about him is like hes never gonna lose. ever.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) I've been thinking that for a couple of weeks. Mentioned it to southsider and chisoxfn at the game Saturday. really his .260 average is misleading considering he was hitting like .180 in teh first month and a half. ride the hot hand. id rather see him in there than timo or BA. especially if BA is only getting in 2 games a week

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) i would like to see someon throw a perfect game with a pitch count of 27. id rather see 27 Ks on 81 pitches....ive come close in mvp 2004 with like 24 Ks and a perfect game. 3 guys put it in play tho...oh it was on like 95 pitches though

QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) BMac did that against Toledo which is the best team in the IL I think. a few weeks ago i was saying that BMAC was largely unproven and really the only thing he accomplished was a few good games against against hitters getting ready in spring training, and a handful of solid outings at AA (6 iirc). that said, my arguement was that i thoguht he would be good, but the spring training performance largely overrated his value, because he was still greatly unproven above A ball, and the buzz about him was so great. i am now willing to admit that his past month at AAA ball has proven that he can get it done, and his peripherals are astounding as they have always been. now that he is showing his potential at AAA, he is showing me exactly what i wanted to see, and now is the time to get excited about him. his K:BB is still absurd and thats probably teh most encouraging thing about him. the one thing that worries me, especially in the cell, is his GB:FB ratio. if anyone who sees him play in charlotte can tell me if he is still givin up alot of fly balls, or if they think hes gettin more ground outs it would be appreciated. or if someone can pull those stats from somewhere, i dont know where to find em. thanks

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 07:14 AM) a pass? wasn't he generally referred to as "dead" on this board for an extended period of time? yep he was, and if i remember, i think it was nuke cleveland who had a sig with god commanding jermaine dye to rise from his grave and wake this O up. from what i remember it worked. maybe we should revert back to it?

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:16 AM) Seems everyone wants to blame Timo for the Sox slide. But Dye has done nothing for weeks. This is a guy who should be driving in runs. who is hitting the ball??? crede...no, uribe....no, rowand....no, whoever is in left? nope..........the only people not in a slump are konerko and iguchi. cant blame it simply on dye.
