  1. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) I just dont get how Young is an upgrade over Carl. Even Ibenaz? Maybe as a bench player to get rid of Timo but thats not happening. Unless it a KG type player I dont believe its an upgrade! agreed. ibanez and young are both slightly worse versions of carl everett. ok carl doesnt hit righties as well, but historically hes much better against them. besides what are you gonna do send a bunch of prospects for a platoon DH??? maybe ibanez fills in for scottie for a while, but these games dont mean s***, lemme see what BA cando, we arent gonna lose the division, and we are almost guaranteed hoem field in the first series (tho that might be a bad thing). i just dont see either of these guys helping us too much.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) He was most likely tested, told he tested positive and going through the appeals process at the time. ive been reading about this thing everywhere...its almost too big to not be true. add into that all the radio stations....sure fire hall of famer and a potential one.....im not sure about damon as potential HOFer, but and that certainly means its not kapler (unless its the playgirl hall of fame) but something huge is gonna go down and its gonna be good.
  3. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) i actually prefer to sit back, relax and strap it down, but if you want to cinch it up and hunker down, you go on with your bad self. how about bowing your neck?
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) Well IIRC there was an article around the deadline saying Bavasi would just accept a prospect for Guardado. Unfortunately that prospect is likely to be Brandon McCarthy or Chris Young. And unless Raul Ibanez is included, a lot of posters are probably going to say, well we need offense more than pitching right now. i agree that we need another bat, but one way to compensate for bad offense is to load up on pitching. the pen would be so deep with this guy. if a starter in the playoffs got in trouble (and i mean gives up like 2 runs) you could march out cotts (2.01) politte (1.94) guardado (1.29) and hermanson (1.76) for the 6 -7-8-9. thats a damn short ball game. throw into that mix jenks marte and a hot vizcaino....woa
  5. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/181sd3.htm take it for what its worth... im shocked that he cleared and the yanks/bosox didnt pick him up
  6. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Well right now he still has a excellent swing and a tremendous RF with a cannon for an arm. Sweeney stats this year are off because of 1st season at a huge pitchers park and the wrist problem that he will need to get fixed right now he can't hit pitches on the inner half because of it and LH hitters love the ball down an in. The pitchers have realized this and been jaming him. After every swing on an inside pitch he barely walk to 1st because the pain is so bad i still have to believe though that his status as a prospect is quite a ways behind anderson and young....right?
  7. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Griffey Jr (.290A) was 1/3 today with an RBI (83). 13 days & counting before we have to give up hope. i gave up hope on griffey already....besides WHERE WOULD HE PLAY!? sorry if im beatin that joke to death
  8. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Ryan has not seen a doctor yet he has some damage from an injury in June he has been trying to play through this HBP was lower on the hand. He will need Off season surgery most likely for the earlier damage. Bham, i never get to see these guys except what was on in spring training. but i know some scouts still say sweeney will be a stud even without the power there this year. im not really a stats guy so i hate to simply look at numbers, but im not a tools guy either. but since i can see stats and only stats, i was wondering if you can gimme a run down of what if anything you think will make this kid a solid big leaguer. i know hes only 20 and second youngest in AA blah blah blah, but as much as i hate solely lookin at stats, is just too hard for me to ignore a .355 slugging percentage. please tell me something good, thanks!
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) Holy crap!!! Congrats!!! And good luck!!! thanks!
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Good luck man!! Do yourself a HUGE favor, once they are done go out and have a good time, if you drink, get drunk, if you like music, go to a concert!! i was thinking about gettin drunk and scalpin some tickets to the sox yanks game, but that doesnt look to be much of a stress reliever the way things are going
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/3886536?GT1=6773 Wow, I didn't know this about Steve Kerr. Ignore the crap on here about the Sox. when im in my college student section cheering, i give it to people as much as possible, and i like to think i can dish it out with the best of em, but this..............is just ...........makes me wanna puke.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) http://story.scout.com/a.z?s=122&p=2&c=417174 maybe he can play third base?
  13. QUOTE(NCsoxfan @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) I agree guys. What a pathetic piece of s***....... You cannot blame the agent for everything, Benson could step up at any moment and end this holdout. yeah wtf. i dont see this guy starting until at least week 4 or 5 now. f***in dickhead
  14. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Slumps don't last forever, this team will be back on its feet eventually, it's too talented not to. Stone me all you want. lol, i agree with you, and find it funny how you prepared for the wrath of others. i know i do it too, if you go against popular opinion (especially when things are bad) you get canned by this site....not sayin its a bad thing, just how it is
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) thanks daa and Steff... it's been a long month with female troubles, taking the Bar, not having a job and school for the first time in 14 years and making me bored out of my f'n skull! But the idea of Gammons COMPLETELY losing his s*** on Baseball Tonight makes me laugh, it may be cruel, but it's true... seriously though, he may cry on the air, and if he does I don't think I would ever stop laughing. Ever. yikes man, my brother took the bar, then got married a week later, so i know what youre sayin.....ive been goin through some of it too...im takin the MCAT on saturday

  17. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) This is not a joke. I am dead serious. no 2006 option?
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) If it is the alleged Astros SP, Canseco looks like a f'n genius and should be up for the Pulitzer. (IMO his book is a great read, I believed most of it when it came out, and I think it's being proved out). If it is the Astros SP some are alleging I would be dissapointed, and if it is a CF from Boston who is up for FA, he may cost himself untold millions of dollars. As far as why would the Astros SP do it with all of his accomplishments? Look at Michael Jordan. It's the competitive edge these guys have. They're cut-throat at anything they play, from their pro games to pick-up games with their friends... my guess is clemens has been using it his entire career. according to jack morris steroids isnt a 1990s and later problem. thats just when it got big. the rumors ive heard is that the first guy to really use it was mike schmidt.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) if these names are right, who's starting the Peter Gammons Suicide Pool? (extra points if he does it on live TV) thats damn funny
  20. QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) I just think it is really going to stick out in the voters minds that MB choked against Boston and then again in his next start when the team needed to get out of a slide he couldn't get it done again. Not that it was completely MB's fault, cause it wasn't, he just needed a better outing than the one he had. its still too early, people dont really really decide until september, besides, to be honest his biggest competetion has been rivera who has a loss and 2 blown saves in the last week, garland who got knocked around by boston......now santana appers to be a favorite, but itll still depend on who turns it up a notch in sept.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) The two guys I think are most likely Sox could get are D. Young and Ibanez. Both guys are better off playing DH, and both have bad contracts. lol really not to sound liek hawk.......but id honestly rather have carl playing over both those guys. granted, both are somewhat attractive in that they can help rest guys (especially konerko) and provide better support when resting our OFers than timo, but we'd end up payin a decent amount of money for somethin i dont think is a huge upgrade
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) He's not getting fired. I could see if players have underperformed from career norms, but most are at or slightly above what you would expect. B remember last year when valentin and uribe hit like .128 and .129 in august respectively and crede was at like .180.......thats exactly what this august has felt like
  23. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Where would they play? it seriously never gets old. it was so predictable that it was coming, yet when i still read it, i still cracked up

  25. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) 18. Jerry Owens, of, White Sox (Double-A Birmingham) By going 0-for-3 in the first game of a doubleheader Monday, Owens streak of reaching base ended at 35 games, the longest in the Southern League this year. In 36 games since July 1, the league leader in runs (83) and hits (144) is batting .386 with 35 runs. Owens also at 18th yeah owens was 20 last week too...im quite suprised young didnt make it this week after his monster week
