  1. is it time to start considering haigwood and liotta better prospects than gio? i suppose gios ceiling is higher, especially since hes only 19, but liotta and haigwood have to be getting close.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) Griffey shouldn't be used in left because the corner outfield is harder on the hammy's. I'd play him in center pretty often and DH him a bit too i know that hte hammy thing has been floated around alot, but is this really even true? can someone please explain to my why its harder on the hammy to play left than cneter????? seems like to me the muscles being used in both positions are the same
  3. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) That would be a NO. Here's the zone rating of all major league CFs. Notice that Rowand is #2, and Griffey is dead last. Sure, Griffey could fill in for Pods while he's on the DL (if he goes), or spell Dye like Everett does, but he's a DH, plain and simple. Jeremy Reed, Sea .950 Aaron Rowand, CWS .930 Grady Sizemore, Cle .923 Vernon Wells, Tor .919 David DeJesus, KC .917 Nook Logan, Det .907 Corey Patterson, ChC .903 Brady Clark, Mil .896 Torii Hunter, Min .891 Andruw Jones, Atl .890 Jim Edmonds, StL .889 Brad Wilkerson, Was .888 Carlos Beltran, NYM .880 Juan Pierre, Fla .872 Johnny Damon, Bos .872 Preston Wilson, Was/Col .867 Willy Taveras, Hou .854 Mark Kotsay, Oak .850 Steve Finley, LAA .845 Ken Griffey Jr., Cin .821 interesting list, funny that kotsay is so far down the list, being a beane guy and all. at any rate imo zone rating is extremely valuable in terms of stats, and this is enough reason in itself to say rowand should play over jr.........................wtf..im talking about jr like hes on the team. lets wait and see what happens first
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Here's a complete picture of the backpack/trap assembly. And seperate weapon, which I still happen to have. i believe the official name was a proton pack. btw that nerf gun was sweet
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) He's older and fragile....might be a better idea to have Rowand stay in CF. Jr. should DH, with carl returning to his rotation that he had before with thomas, where he can play DH once a week, left, right, to spell dye, griffey, pods, and aaron once a week. it keep everyone fresh giving everyone at least a day off.
  6. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Comcast's earlier sports show at 6:00 said to be sure to watch for Bruce talking about Griffey in the 10:00 show tonight. bueno
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) I feel like a 6 year old on Christmas Eve. Getting Griffey would be like getting the Turtle Bus, back in the day. Man, I loved that toy. remember the pizza discs it used to shoot haha
  8. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) No clue. Might have been though. i suppose it could have been on the sox postgame, which was over about 25 min before he posted his original message
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Anyone hear Bruce Levine's latest update. He said Ken Griffey Jr. is not on the White Sox YET, and that he expects it to happen. Edit by Show: Created a new thread to make it easier for folks to catch up. update on what? they have had the cubs cards game on espn 1000, ive been listening for a while
  10. how about anderson in left, ozuna at third leading off? anderson is an upgrade over crede on O, and will be better than anyone else we throw out there on D. give crede some rest, and maybe shift ozuna to SS or 2b here and there to give the others a day off.
  11. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) How about , cant wait till Sept. 1 to see this kid. I hope. unfortunately it could be for the reds
  12. QUOTE(GoArow33 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) He looked fantastic last night. Did anyone feel comfortable with that lead last night? I actually did for once. My favorite one was when Contreras threw that nasty third strike forkball against Arod and Arod just kinda nodded at Jose like he respected the Ump's call. It was such cool thing. Maybe a big outing where he used to falter can get him on track finally. If he comes on, we have four aces and one very good pitcher as of late in El Duque. I'm kind of glad we didn't make a trade with the way we've pitched in the second half. Any comments on Jose? Is this for real? although i hate it when he uses it too much, but my favorite was when he threw 3 straight down right nasty forkballs in a row to Cano and got him swinging
  13. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Ok, this is really really easy to do. 163-White Sox wins-Indians losses 163-69-51=43 what sad is that as of right now, if we dont gain any ground on minny/cle for the next month and a half, we would clinch on the day where theres no TV
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Making 4.2 M this year and 6.3 M next. I don't know if he would make it to us. i remember when he first came up he was an absolute stud. he was like 5-0 at one point. we faced him and iirc he shut us down. righties went 0 for their first like 47 against him or something. that said i thouhgt he would be a special pitcher but it hasnt materialized for him. i dont think hed make to us in waivers, but you never know.
  15. i dont know man, if some opposing teams fans came to the cell and tried to bust my balls about teh sox losing id be pissed, and id prolly give you s*** too. no offense, just my 2 cents
  16. remember those root for CLE and MIN threads, yeah well they arent winning the wild card this year, so yeah i think we should actually begin rooting for oakland so that they win the division and well end up playing the angels in the first round. oakland is only 1.5 back
  17. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Gawd, Viz is a heart attack in a piece of s*** can. you know what is hilarious, if you look at viz's numbers, they are better than kochs were with us, and viz is our weakest link in the pen (maybe not now with adkins) but koch was our closer. man our pen has come a long way since then
  18. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! God Viz sucks good thing htere are 3 threads that say and thats a white sox winner lol. can some mod delete teh other two
  19. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) uh, see Rodriguez, Francisco - 2002 Angels. Thank you. there are always exceptions, but name me one other? thank you
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Bases juiced. :headshake good lord
  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:14 AM) These are the prospects that i would like KW not to trade at the deadline this year: Brian Anderson Sean Tracey or McCarthy(don't trade both) Josh Fields Bobby Jenks(not a prospect anymore however still a young player) Maybe Chris Young Gio Gonzalez(unless it's a great deal) Who do you guys think are untouchable. apparently everyone but ryan meaux
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Heh. We'll never get anyone through waivers with our record. The Twins/Yankees/Red Sox etc. will block anything we try to do. thats what i said until eveyrone on this board poohpoohed that
  23. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) wow not a personal insult but your all over the place. Blow the air out the window before the Parents smell it. yeah i guess i rambled.....lemme clear it up..... 1.) blum...he stinks, but so did willie so no big loss there. i like what the trade does to help make our bench a little more verstaile in terms of defensive alignment. trade makes us slightly better. 2.) adkins....just the thought that we brought up adkins makes me think that management must have been really down on shingo. those were teh two points i was tryin to get at
  24. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Blame the market, not the GM. I liked Kenny's only move and I think he did his absolute best to improve the ballclub. Thoughts? EDIT: Someone wanna throw a T in "Reaction?" Thanks! my temper has cooled some, but i was quite upset after the deadline, and i still am. the way i feel is that we are in the best position to win big since probably 1993, maybe even beyond that. we have a good chance of getting homefield throughout the playoffs, the way i feel is that we should load up as much as possible. on the other hand, what has allowed me to cool my temper is the fact that only 1 out of 8 teams in the playoffs still ends up winning it, and even bringing in a guy like huff doesnt guarantee that. duke impressed the last few outings. i realize 100% that burnett wasnt going to happen because he wasnt going to resign. i understand wagner probably wasnt available and that chuck lamarr is a dope. my personal feelings are that we could have made upgrades to the back of the pen. the bullpen, as most pens are, can be exceptional, or can honestly be quite bad. i look at our pen and see 3 guys in politte cotts and hermanson who have been lights out this year, and jenks and marte have done the job. but really, cotts, politte, and hermanson have never been this successful ever, and im just fearful that one or more could fall apart. marte to me, you know hwat you are gonna get. solid work, but not spectacular like a few years ago. jenks is just too unproven. then theres vizcaino and adkins, who well...nobody counts on. i guess i would have liked to have seen the sox go after someone like a scott eyre or a miguel batista to take adkins spot, and in case one of those aforementioned to fall apart, they are there to fill in.
  25. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) LOL. I'm just mad because -- IMO -- our bench got worse, not better. So, basically Geoff Blum is Pablo Ozuna (can play every position sans a few) with some power. We lost our best bat off the bench in Gload. The Harris move, I'm over it. He didn't perform, he deserves the send-down. But, what's Luis Vizcaino for? He's supposed to be the mop-up guy, right? Plus, if we do make the playoffs (and yes, I will say 'if' until that magic number is zero), one of Contreras/El Duque will be in the 'pen anyways. Why couldn't they wait one month, then they can call-up whichever 15 guys they feel like calling up. It doesn't make much sense. At all. im upset this team didnt upgrade in other areas where they could/should have, but the blum deal isnt that bad. i mean he stinks, theres no doubt. but so does willie. and imo this was more to get willie off the team. i dont think ozzie likes willie too much because willies really a 1position player, and should be able to bunt, but cant. i wonder if blum has a good track record of gettin down a sac bunt. as far as adkins goes, i dont dislike it. i thought jon did a good job for us last year and i think he is better suited for the pen. his stuff is almost a mirror of polittes stuff, with a little less on the fastball with a little more movement, and they both have that little slide piece they like to use down and away. what i just dont understand, is the chisox rhetoric when they let shingo go. they said it was just a case of jenks really being to good to not have being on the team. fair enough. but bringing adkins up tells me that apparently they like adkins better than shingo too. apparently the gong man has fallen quickly and fallen far
