  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Who, Tiger Woods? hell the way we are going i would take david duval even
  2. funny how for hawk, there was all the room in the world on this team for thomas to DH, but no room at all for griffey who is younger lefthanded, can actually play the field and hits for a higher average ....i guess i dont get it
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) Here goes Hawk again im not watchin, can you enlighten me
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) but the catcher should know its coming, right? all tied up
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Garcia's arm angle on his slider makes a lot of his pitches in the dirt impossible to block. but the catcher should know its coming, right?
  6. QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Here comes out # 1...a groundout... and timo says i hate you all too
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Good job by Garcia of making the accurate throw. Big batter in this game in Ryan here. i didnt see the WP right there, but has anyone noticed, and it happens mostly when freddy is on the bump, that AJ doesnt block the ball to his right. seems like he tries to stab at it with the mit. its really the only thing i can say anything about with AJ. just seems he doesnt block the fastball to his right as well as other catchers, and lets some balls that most catchers would get to get by him
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) I don't quite think that actually, the Twinkies could use say a Terry Mulholland and Jesse Crain has hardly been all that great in the last few months. Radke has something like a 2.25 ERA after the ASG however........... dang, didnt realize radke had cranked it up after the first half. he really was pretty damn good last year, and has throughout his career been pretty darn underrated imo
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Hey DBAH0, where is Honel pitching right now? birmingham barons AA
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) 7 pitches in an inning, at least make Radke work a little. youd almost rather radke stayed in there though with this bullpen
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Get back to the bench Ozzie any bets on anderson today? ill say he goes 2-4 with a double edit on second thought 4 ABs means we would have to reach base 8 times....so ill scratch that and say 1-3
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) I wonder how much thought they gave to batting Gooch - Uribe 1-2 in the lineup tonight? not sure, but i know ozzie said he thought about tadahito leadin off, and still should, this tema cant afford to have dye on the bench the way we are scoring latley . id like to see iguchi rowand carl konerko aj dye anderson uribe crede.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) The nice thing about it is you know its going to happen, so you prepare for it, and if he does better ever, its a nice surprise. on a bright side, maybe we can expect him to shut the twins down now for the next 7, tho the way our O has been, this game is nearly lost already
  14. haha evidently i was wrong abotu boers and bernstein, but at any rate.....i agree with the person who said those who dont listen to sports talk radio are missing out. i just have become increasingly frustrated with local programming lately, and i think the national programming is getting better. mac jurko and harry i do enjoy, i just hate the fact that theyll go 45 minutes without talkin about sports sometimes. my favorite is quickly becomming mulligan and buffone. especially about the bears. obviuosly they know whats goin on with them, and they give reasonable opinions, but nothin too in depth abotu baseball. i knwo everyone hates bruce, but i find talkin baseball on sundays with rooney to be just about as good as any show
  15. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Yep. It's on the front page of ESPN.com's baseball section right now. those f***ing know nothing bastards at espn never know what they are talking about. if it doesnt have to do with boston or new york they never care. jeez its like the white sox dont even exist. i mean they dont give us any pub even after 4 years of the stellar mediocrity we played. even if we ever win they will still talk about the yanks this and red sox this. gammons, neyer, stark, they all suck. f*** you espn
  16. nitretrain take a look at mariottis past columns....believe me any time jay can he laces into hawk, even on around the horn reali will tease mariotti by sayign he gone, and mariotti will say "dont ever say that." mariotti has ripped hawk on a bunch of occasions in articles that seemed every bit as random as hawks rant. btw i personally agree with hawk when he says that mariotti takes every chance he gets to rip JR...the only thing thats wrong with it is that mariotti takes every chance he can get to rip ANYBODY in this town
  17. ESPN or other sports broadcast (CSN etc) stays on jst about all day if they are showing something like scrabble then seinfeld, simpsons, family guy, curb your enthusiasm, are the norm. other than that its pretty much sports with the occasional flip to history channel
  18. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Sometime in the next 3 years... Just by that statement... he isnt close to a gold Glove? Give me Anderson the future CF of the White Sox or Young. yeah youre right. id also rather have young or anderson...ya know...cuz they have been wayyyy closer to winning a gold glove in the majors than rowand
  19. the score is bad and getting worse. they just let go of J-Hood, clearly their best guy. he knew his stuff, talked about sports and only sports. the score is getting just down right brutal. the morning show is a joke. north is a complete dope, i dont know a single sox fan who listens and enjoys boers and bernstein, and mike murphy by himself is about as interesting jane austen. when he gets piersall on the show it gets even worse. Mulligan and buffone are the only ones worth listening to anymore. i just hope they dont f*** up sox games next year like they have with teh rest of their station. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility on the other end of the dial, mac jurko and harry continue to talk less and less and less about sports and more and more and more about pointless nonsense. thank god they still have the national guys mike and mike and dan patrick to carry them
  20. QUOTE(Mr. Chairman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) I didn't mean off-field stuff or possible character flaws (I don't know him personally). I am talking about uncanny ability to focus, iron determination, competitiveness that type of stuff. ie denis rodman....i agree with you, just cuz a guy may be a headcase in a situation or two, or even off the field doesnt mean hes gonna be a nut job on the field. rodman (while a nutjob on the court as well) was focused and determined like you said. besides i like a player with a little edge to him. btw: i was just floatin out the possibility that haigwood and liotta could be close to gio. imo haigwood isnt, but i think liotta and gio have be pretty much gettin to the same level, but then again, i do want to see what either can do at AA at least first.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Marte and Hanley Ramirez are a little high...seems potential is alot of the weight on this list. ALOT of players have slipped too far. i saw marte as high as number 3 or 4 on some lists earlier, hanley ramirez you are right on. he could be the most overrated prospect in the game. all the boston hype has him as being great, but i see nothing in his numbers that would suggest so. maybe he could be a ryan sweeney type guy where his numbers dont tell the story, but we shall see. any bets on how long itll be before sweeney goes yahtzee?
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Ha what? I didn't say I wanted A-Row out of the lineup or out of CF. He's very solid in the OF, but he is not a gold glover IMHO. He's made nice plays for 3 games against the Yanks. He doesn't do that type of stuff every game which seperates good defensive OF's from GG'ers. say what you want, and call me someone who doesnt criticize or whatever, but imo rowand is not gold glove calibur, but he IS the next level below. he has made nice plays all year this not just against the yankees. look at his ZR. second on the majors. the arm that he showed last year misled us, as he rushes his throws this year and his arm doesnt look as strong. at any rate you are right, he is not andruw jones or torii hunter. jim edmonds makes stellar plays, but he misplays more balls than aaron does, not sayin aarons a better CF, but edmonds misplays his fair share of balls. in regards to this team.....the first half of the year was absolutely something that couldnt be expected to be repeated in the second half. we were playing over our heads. plain and simple. podsednik really has been a non factor in the second half, and when our lineup turns over, crede/timo/uribe/podsednik has been brutal. throw in ozzie playing blum and konerko everett dye AJ is nothin that blows your socks off (each of those players can be pitched to) we do indeed need KGJr. and hawk is just being dumb and drinking too much koolaid believing this team is on a mission from god
  23. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Who was the last guy for the White Sox that just helped from the get go? Pitching or hitting wise. I can't remember at all. Frank. man, just look at kalapses avatar and remember he hates you too
  24. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) Do you remember the stature of Borchy when the White Sox first signed him? LTP, Light Tower Power they called him. Images of the Natural. With repsect to Linder I think we are looking at the objectivity of Disney & the Angels. They nixed a deal that would have given them both Garland & Lee because it did not include a marquee name. I think Linder is looking for a marquee name from the ml's. Borchy in his first year fit that bill. I don't know how many players there are like that today. Did BMac exceed the 27 days to where an option year was spent? If so then he would have to clear waivers & there's no way that's happening. it would have given them garland and singleton for erstad, not lee
  25. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Gio's had a dominant year as well, I dont know that you can say he's been passed he dominated at low A, but he hasnt come close to dominating in his 9 starts at WS. Liotta has, and Haigwood has dominated at AA
