QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Pauly had a problem with his back; he's day-to-day. well i look like a jackass

ozzie what the hell. we had a day off yesterday. paul konerko has 30 home runs. scott podsednik is already not in the lineup. so no pods, today no pauly. the other day it was no iguchi. day before that no dye. last i checked, iguchi is ozzies MVP, konerko has the best numbers on the team, and dye is the best of the rest. seems logical to me that during a losing streak we should have our best players on the field.....am i wrong? ozzie quit f***ing around. win some ball games. play your players. i dont know if he is trying to get guys rest cuz its the dogdays, but the fact remains that THEY HAD YESTERDAY TO REST edit: in my mind i keep thinkign to myself "what are you doing. are you nuts?!? are you nuts?"

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Jesus christ guys were in a 5 game most likely its going to be a 6 game losing streak look at all of the other teams longest losing streak 6 games is probaly the average everyteam goes through this point sometime in a 162 game season and b****ing on a message baord is not going to change that. its just frustrating so close to the end of the year, everyone is afraid of the big let down like 2000. i htink everyone is starting to realize how much we played over our heads in the first half and are coming back to life. after such a long time atop, its hard to look around hte league and say that we might be the worst team thats gonna make the playoffs

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) I know it's easy to get mad about it, but there's not a whole lot he can do right now. Waivers is the only option and it looks grimmer and grimmer every day. guys dont worry, im not afraid of rivera....we got murderers row coming up next inning after aaron......crede blum uribe timo who doesnt fear them, i mean i know 3 or mayeb all 4 wouldnt play at all on any average team, but they are clutch and play great defense!

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) I'd say that's pretty bad. Davis gets drafted considerably earlier than Dunn, who might get outrushed by his quarterback. and doesnt put it in the endzone thanks to duckett. if you get recieving points for your RBs dunn helps there, but either way, davis for dunn was a steal -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) That's interesting that all this new information has come to light. I remember the incident but at the time I thought they were pretty sure Wells was behind it all. But I also wondered why, if that was the case, he would use a real bomb. Makes no sense. Boy, you can bet this story will be a movie. this is truly one of the most f***ed up things ive ever seen. reminds me of die hard 3

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Two minor league shout-outs in this small article about speed in the minors. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2137694 i thought maybe valido would be in there too

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) I was thinking that instead of listening to fans and paid talking heads, I'd see what the professionals who are paid to set the odds are thinking, plus what people who will fork over a credit card think. here's one link Seems like either we have a chance, or Sox fans are too generous in their investments. 125:1 for the cubs only lol

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) And with all of the pessimism and "The Sky is Falling" threads etc. people should just sit back, take a deep breath, and remember THAT DAY when Arnie Munoz gives up 10+ runs in a couple of innings. fixed. i think arnie get such a bum wrap because of that one outing. he had mind boggling numbers at bham, and currently has teh best ERA of any starter at charlotte. remember how impressed sosa was with him (i know its sosa but still) when he was rehabbing. hell prolly end up being a bullpen arm, but i think he still has some solid potential

QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) But I got that sour feeling that sometimes, minor league success may not transfer to the Major Leagues, with the different pitching, ballparks and all. obviously it doesnt translate because of different pitching, but actually the barons play in one of the biggest pitchers parks in teh minors. granted i personally think thats a good thing for slap/gap hitters like owens.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) Just so I understand... You complain about the national media not respecting the White Sox, then rip on it when they do? haha i dont think anyone is complaining about the attention or the nice things siad, i just think everyone knows mccarver is an idiot regardless of what he says.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Royals first round pick, Alex Gordon, has enrolled in classes at Nebraska and if he attends on Monday, the Royals will lose his draft rights. they almost all enroll if unsigned, he wont show up. its the same thing weaver, drew, sowers all did.....they just use it as leverage in the final week before school starts..............i could be wrong, maybe he will go, but i doubt it

An Excerpt From "Ron Kittle's Tales From The White
daa84 replied to Joe Mac's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 04:03 AM) Wow I had no idea you could write third grade sentences littered with cliche and still somehow get a book deal. But then again who wouldn't want to read a book about Ron Kittle. ever read cansecos book....its worse -
anyone know why brandon only went 4 innings tonight?

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Teinowitz giving more hints, 'one in the AL and one in the NL, both in the AllStar Game this year'. Jurko saying that he'd guess the Cubs would love one of these guys as a FA next year, implying Damon. Mac also asked something implying Damon. Now he's saying that one guy is a pitcher and the other isn't. Also that one of the guys has been on their show (so they're basically backing up Damon and Clemens) That Neyer quote is also very interesting. Tomorow should be very interesting! MLB will probably take a big hit from this, anyone think Selig would resign? this is actually the opposite of what i think. why should selig resign? he is obviously doing something everybody wants. this shows his program is working and not just catching minor leaguers and the derrick turnbows of the world. if anything this should make a case for him to remain comish cuz hes getting stuff done. obviously it was a problem before this, but at least he is righting the ship. i think congress is the same way, they see the current program maybe working. granted it has loopholes, weve known that, so i wouldnt mind congress stepping in. but congress shouldnt step in because people are getting caught. people getting caught is a good thing and showing the program is working (at least to a degree)

Moss admits to marijuana use 'every blue moon'

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Moss thought there was too much coverage on T.O. so he came out with this gem. http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8747660 i know randy moss is concerned about children following along, but if randy moss does something, i believe that i am less inclined to do it as well -
QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) wow not sure how those are calculated, but it can be very misleading if its simply homers per game. obviously with a good pitching staff and a speed team that would go down. i know some stat sites calculated them based on a "control" in which the control is the number of home runs the team gives up and hits on the road, so they are all normaled against a curve.

this was also from neyers chat.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Where did you guys hear "hall of famers"...? i cant say that i heard it myself, only what i read on this board, and the links on this board and on espn.coms message boards. supposedly some radio hosts said it was a sure thing HOFer and a potential HOFer. the announcement of the sure thing HOFer "would be devastating for the game, and could bring baseball to its knees" of course take all of this with a grain of salt. we will know tomorrow

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) Well... It's not Poppy.. and he's the only one that really kicked our ass. I really don't know. I guess I wouldn't care. The public s*** beating they would get and calling their season last year bs would be poetic justice. We can't be bothered with being pissed over this. We have a division and WS to win!! yeah i agree its the business of baseball. zambrano got to delay his suspension last year to the allstar break for arguing with the ump. same thing with rogers its just the nature of the beast. kinda like the death penalty in real life....yeah they might kill the guy, but it wont be for like 20 years.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) I have decided to keep the sound down on the broadcasts and listen to rooney and farmer after hearing the "WHERE WOULD HE PLAY" crap or the "WELL THE BOSTON RED SOX HAVE A GOOD OFFENSE, BUT LETS GO OVER POSITIONS SO I CAN TELL YOU HOW I WOULD SELECT EVERY MEMBER OF THE s***TY HITTING WHITESOX OVER HITTING STUDS" And for next years soxfest, THIS IS THE BEST WHITESOX TEAM I HAVE EVER BEEN AROUND, THIS IS THE BEST SOXFEST I HAVE BEEN AROUND, KENNY WILLIAMS IS THE SMARTEST MAN IN THE WORLD, Hopefully we get KGJ. When Frank came back this team hit over 270 for two months. In the previous months we hit in the 250s. Now after he goes down we hit in the 230s. now this could be a culmination of alot of things, even steroids for all i know, but just look at rowand and uribe last year to this year. these guys hit 24 and 23 homers, and this year they are gonna end up with 13. it sure was nice for pitchers to have to throw fastball strikes to those guys when we had big boppers behind them. if you ask me adding griffey into the lineup has a trickle down effect on everyone. and maybe mostly on konerko. plus with griffey you can stagger the lineup pods L, iguchi R, griffey L, konerko R, AJ L, dye R, carl S (if no aaron) uribe and crede. that means you are gonna be forcin some good matchups vs. other bullpens, or forcing the other manager to only use a few guys for 1 out
