  1. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Hot Damn a 2 out clutch hit!!! corpseball huh? funny how playin KC can help wake you up
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Can someone tell me why I am staying up for this? god joe crede may hit like s***, but must save our team like 2 runs per game. he need to be in the lineup purely for his gold glove calibur defense
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) looking at teh radar, after this current cell passes, it looks like it will clear up with no more rain. looks like it shouldnt be that long either. if i had to guess once it passes they will get the game in without interruption looks like i was just a big bowl of wrong

  5. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) i felt bad for jose early in the season, he was pitching fairly well but we didn't give him more than 3 runs a game ever.. yep i agree.....jose could be at 15 wins. his first 6 or so starts were very good. then he got cold right around when arizona came in and he got roughed up. zona and baltimore.
  6. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:59 AM) Don't doubt the power of the almighty Crede Banner of you might raise its ire. Look what the Crede banner has done to the Royals ... ok , bad example. Look what the Crede banner did to Kerry Wood for mocking it. And look what happened to Martha Stewart after she mocked the Crede Banner. the crede banner should not be moved again....ever
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) So...is anyone else quite happy we got this guy out of our organization right now? not to mention olivo who now stinks, and reed who hit .253 with 3 homers?? thats why i like trading prospects
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) Thoughts? sounds fine, except el duque wont be used out of the pen, he'll be traded first, also since we are talkin about next year already....where would marte go?
  9. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) where is the: [Thank you Magglio for not signing that innitial contract offer for $12 million a year for 5 years. Because he was greedy, we had pleanty of money to: sign AJ, Dye, El-duque, Iguchi and Hermanson] option? agreed. the money we freed up by letting magglio go, and the money we gained in the lee trade has been the key to this entire season. kenny did an absolutely tremendous job of finding 4 players whose real value was higher than their stock this offseason, which is moneyball at its core (just different philosophical reasons for being undervalued than beane). when you break it down: AJ: bad rep drove his price wayyyyyy down. has been second only to varitek who signed for 8 mil a year. AJ got 2 mil. steal Tadahito: kaz matsuis (7mil per year) shortcomings made every team wary of signing another jap middle IFer. kenny was able to get a guy who is the same damn player as marcus giles for 2 mil. Dye: freak injuries (broken leg from foul ball, broken finger) drove his value down, but they werent nagging injuries. considering the prices of beltran (11.5 mil, will increase in future years) drew (11 mil) magglio (15 mil), ill take dyes 30 homers at 4 million any day of the year el duque: lieber, wright, milwood, milton!, pavano all signed in that 7-10 mil range. milwood was the only one who has drastically out performed orlando, who signed for only 4. the only signing better at SP for value might have been byrd at 5 hermie: actually KW got lucky with this. the numbers everyone else on this list put up could have been somewhat expected, but what he has done for 2 million has been absurd. not even a question who the exec of the year is this year. this is how you build a championship calibur team with a moderate payroll. (not to mention trading hot prospects above their actual value for garcia, and acquiring a potential stud in contreras, for 6)
  10. carl supposedly along with timo are big parts to this clubhouse, despite the medias perception of carl and some dumb comments he made, he actually is a good guy.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 09:06 AM) Wow, tough crowd. I give Borchard credit for toughing it out. He could have easily left baseball for the NFL and likely more money. fathom im with you. as hawk and DJ mentioned borchard has been a class act. he stuck out the boobirds last year and pointed the finger right at himself. he has done nothing but impress me as a person and to be honest, i would think that many a team would be interested in a guy who just hit 29 homers in AAA. i personally feel for borch, and alot of people here like to give him crap, but the reality of the situation is that no, he never really helped the team, but even if he hit like a normal AAA callup last year, the season would have been lost anyways. i hope he finds a place where he can have an oppertunity. honestly, left field for the cubs sounds about right
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) I'd rather pick 29th in the draft then 30th. I believe it goes by record, though it might switch after the teams make the playoffs... i think the team that wins it all picks last regardless of their record
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) It's the Royals. and lima at that
  14. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) You guys think Bmac will be on the playoff roster? I think Vizciano will. The only way i see BMac making the roster is if Harris gets left off. But his speed just might be enough to leave BMac off the roster. Ozzie won't leave anyone off the roster who have been on all season. So the only one who will probably be left off is Harris. But who knows?? if i had to guess right now.....if crede is on the team, then ozuna becomes the speed guy off the bench. to be honest the blum acquisition could be potentially be very very big because it allows us to have ozuna be the speed guy instead of willie. this leaves an open spot potentially for bmac to play a potential heros role if someone gets touched up early in a game.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Seriously just try to remember guys... a bad start, or even a couple bad starts, or even a bad month doesn't ruin a guy's season. A bad start does not constitute a trend. i think someone should take this post and pin it and just keep it atop the soxtalk webpage. since nobody on this site seems to grasp this concept. well said balta, i couldnt have put it better myself
  16. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I have a better idea... drop Orlando out of the rotation... just start BMAC... Seriously if BMAC is going to keep pitching like this it makes no sense to even leave El Duque on the playoff roster... i was thinkin about the playoff roster......and i think brandon will be on it regardless IF: konerko, iguchi, uribe, ozuna, blum (maybe crede if healthy) Aj, Widger so 7-8 OF: Dye Rowand Pods Timo Everett so the total is 12-13 P: Buerhle, Garland, Garcia, Contreras, El Duque, Hermie, Cotts, Marte, Politte, Jenks, Vizcaino..... that brings the total to 23-24. That means that one or two spots are open, depending on credes health. I would think that Bmac and willie would be the candidates, especially if crede is out, we need more IF help with ozuna starting at 3rd. So if you ask me, if crede is healthy, we take Bmac with the one open spot. if not we take willie and Bmac.
  17. QUOTE(joeynach @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Why wouldnt he just use the rosin bag then. Thats what its there for. haha we were talkin abotu this last time el duque was on the mound.....supposedly its just rosin, which isnt illegal, but you can bank on it...in the playoffs, those hats will be checked by opposing managers

  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Tony Graffinino = Sox Killer. Why isn't AJ catching Jenks? AJ did not travel with the team for this game. his wife is expecting a baby today i believe
  20. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) i dunno, i quite liked jon's shutout too hes had 3 of em....all 4 hitters
  21. this has probably been the second best game to watch all year...behind freddys 1 hit loss, granted we lost.....maybe the dodgers with AJs walk off
