I've seen a few tapes of his show and all I can say is this: what a gentle and friendly voice to the tots. Especially considering in place of gentle and wise instruction, so-called "childrens television" today are bombarding little ones with agressive stimulation that riles them up and makes them crave the marketing tie-ins. Sad. Tom Junod wrote a piece for Esquire called, "Fred... Can You Say Hero?" a few years back. Very interesting. RIP Mr. Rogers.

Obviously I expect more out of Crede than I would from, say, Borchard at this point anything above 825-850 OPS and above-average defense (which would mean he'd have to be better than Perry, Norton, Valentin, Leifer or Graffanino that's for sure) will be just great. Let me put it another way: as long as outperforms Mark Belhorn by a wide margin, I am happy. Major League pitchers are notorious for being able to make lethal adjustments and many good hitters go through slumps in the year following breakout one. Last year they jamming him with high fatsballs and made him chase slow stuff in the dirt. He adjusted and dominated them. Now it's their turn...So I wouldn't be surprised if Joe struggles a bit before figuring it out for good. .280/25/80 is about right. If he can start walking (I doubt it tho), the numbers will be great. Even better from a Good Glove infielder hitting from the 7th spot

I mean, people b**** and moan about Jose's error and say skeptical things like "well you can't prove that Jose's range and arm make up for his butchery and that 'chemistry' contributions don't translate into wins", which makes sense on some level...but, then, if Jose is so bad, then how come the team CONSISTENTY raises it's level of play when he starts and gets regular at-bats versus when he is injured and/or sits? He must be doing something right.

It's funny but I remember Kip was 91-94 on the fast radar gun (the only that registered Baldwin at 95 and Foulke at 94 and Colon at 102) in the 3rd ining...wow, he must have gotten a whole new arm on E-bay. Besides, velocity means s***. Just ask Matt Anderson and Keith Foulke.

Both Buerhle and Rauch are nothing to sneer at. Last year I would have said ditto for Malone. Diaz and Honel have at least as high celings as Kip. At least one of Wright/Garland should be very good in the long run. Biddle, too, with his movement and 4-pich arsenal was excellent when healthy. Debatable in other words.

(20 feet is nothing. As a college student my father and his friends went Caucas rock climbing and had a, um, accident: the upper hook-things which were supposed to hold up to a few tons were faulty so all four of them fell from some 170 feet (50 meters) height. His three friends landed on the rock terrain; two died immediately and one later at the hospital while my father (he was the lowest of the four at "mere" 120 feet) first slammed through a tree before hitting the relatively soft (soil after rain) ground at the base. Lucky bastard only had a chronic hip problem and now a slight limp to show for it. Come to think of it, witnessing your pals die like that is not all that "lucky".
