  1. As a Sox it's 812, including 915 this year, including 950 with RISP since 2001 and 850 OPS as a LH'er since 2001....I was talking about this year.
  2. The reason why it was a "great" play was because it was a big play, the last out. The ball was hit pretty hard but it was only about 4 feet to his left; he took a bad route to it and had to catch the ball behind him. Uribe unnecessarily made it look tough. Jose made 3 plays like that in KC opening series -- did you call them "great" then? Yep, I thought so.
  3. Kenny Lofton dogs it when he has nothing ot play for. With us he was mediocre, then went to the Giants and was outstanding, almost winning the Series. With Pirates, he was mediocre, then almost single-handedly revived the Cubs, leading them to 4 outs away from the Series. He's old, but I wouldn't say he's done -- my guess they're saving him for September-October when Derek Jeter leading off thing won't be working.
  4. Yes, and then Valentin will magically swoop in and resume his 915 OPS-hitting (950 OPS with RISP) and league-leading range-y ways. Please. It doesn't work that way -- Valentin requires regular at bats to be effective, and if Ozzie has any brains, he'll remember who was his best player in Spring Training and who was just getting on a serious roll before going on the DL.... Valentin is the quality regular here. Uribe is the one who couldn't hit in Coors. And Harris is the one who couldn't hit in the minors. Signed, Perspective.
  5. Dylan, CW......read the f***ing post carefully, esp the follow-up one. There I explain to Reddy my concern and offer a suggestion how to fix it.
  6. No can't do -- no money. Gonna have to wait till the ASB and the team is up by 5-7 games. In the meantime, obviously Brian Roberts's value just shot up. We could have had him for realtively cheap when he was slumping. Was 2 for 3 today with 2 walks and the only out was a HR distance FO. One of his doubles missed a HR by literally a foot. Two more steals (9 or 10 already). OBP knocking on 380 and rising.
  7. What a movie. From Peter Sellers to George C. Scott to Sterling Hayden and that hilarious dude playing the Head Soviet Diplomat.....Kubrich....Vera Lynn's closing "We Meet Again".....pretty close to perfect.

I didn't feel like a PM. I let him slide twice before. Now let this thread die, Tex took care of the problem.

Is there a point to you (incorrectly) pointing out that this thread has no point? I figured since the harmless dude with a large dong graphic got taken off within seconds and threads with "cocksucker" get closed.....it's hilarious how Apu's disgusting and inappropriate images are untouched. More mod hypocrisy. Understand now, or should I explain it in the "Hot Babe" language?
  10. Holy s*** I am too young too young to die. Whew. Maaaaan.
  11. Mon GoG: Juan Uribe Crede was slightly ahead of him, but Uribe's bases loaded FO to end the game easily puts him over the top.

Oh please, pothead revolutionary, don't make me laugh......At least I had the courtesy to * the 'O' in c*cks*cker to protect the sensibility of the young'uns. Anyway, I am glad to refresh your memory with that link. Now go paste a thinkpiece off a WWP bulletin. Or something. We cool.
  13. Frank, that's called "ball 4" 3:0 swinging only makes sense when you get your pitch.....
  14. I think it's hysterical how some dopes are trying to "prove" me wrong. [ME]: "That Danny Wright sure is terrible." [HOMER #357]: "Yeah, and he just struck out Delgado.... " [ME]: "Ross Gload chokes with stunning regularity" [HOMER #252]: "He just got down a bunt.... " I love it.
  15. Wake up, little buddy. Here're some facts: At Home.....1400 OPS; solid clutch numbers On the Road.......615 OPS; abominable clutch numbers How effin' obvious can something get? I don't expect Frank to be as good on the road -- most players are better at home --, but the gap is too fricken wide. Let him play 1B if that means a 300 OPS point boost. Paulie does ok as a DH.

    Frank

Obvisously he is not seeing the ball as he does at home with that background. Also, he's got nothnig to do betweem at-bats but to dwell. Thirdly, that swing....It's like he has NO chance of hitting the ball to CF/RF anymore -- he gets a knee-high batting practice fastball middle of the plate (slightly away) on a 2-1 count from Ainsworth and instead of hitting it 400 feet to RCF, pops it up to 2B. I mean, if he is a pull hitter only, then why did he wait so long on that pitch and not to turn on it? He is looking INFINITELY better at home. Should Sox play him at 1B just to help with his timing? Rotate him on the road with Paulie?

Whatever, you know what you did, "skippy" One example: Cute pics
  18. Hey now, I thought the cut off age for the mental stuff was 16. Damn, gotta get Amy Rossum outta me head.
  19. You better be f***ing right about Harris's talent, badger. Why? Because Valentin will not help you on this road trip as his timing is out of whack. Rowand is corpse cold. Uribe is bound to come down to earth sometimes. Willie Harris setting the table is CRUCIAL to this team's success.
  20. There we go again....Jose never fielded well in April. Last year he had 7 or 8 errors and then settled down into a nice groove and led the league in adjusted range while committing only 12 or 13 errors in final 5 months. This spring training he was flawless. Had a hard time in NY, ok -- but suprisingly still leads the majors in adjusted ZoneRating; we know he turns the pivot well, makes tough plays and is very aggressive in his decision-making (which leads to extra errors but also to extra outs on bang-bang plays), so that means he probably already made up for a couple of those errors somewhere in there. Santana will work on the shoulder-dipping glitch with him; Jose won't win a GG at SS any time soon, but will be tolerable there in the long run. And before you trumpet Willie as a GG'ver....he screwed up a couple of big DP's in the last 2 games alone. He's a sure-handed fielder, no doubt, but watch Lius Castillo field sometimes -- Willie still takes less than ideal routes to the ball and his arm leaves much to be desired. Uribe (3 errors on the season, btw) won't be a downgrade at 2B defensively, so that's that.
  21. Fact: Rowand completely outplayed Harris in Spring Training. Fact: Rowand once again started slow and STILL has an OPS of 80 points higher than Harris. And he's been facing quite a few RHP. Aaron has given quite a few warning track rides while Willie's typical out is a 3 hopper to the 2B. Fact: Rowand is a little better CF'er -- Willie's speed is nice but when you break the wrong way and have a weak arm, it won't make a difference. I love how Rowand, who, if you ignore the dirt-bike accident-related loss of batspeed in April-May of last year (and I can't see why you wouldn't), at least has shown that he BELONGS in the bigs as a starting player gets bashed so much around here....while Willie has been extended every kind of benefit of the doubt and still can't do SQUAT even batting in front of a white-hot Uribe, Ordonez and Thomas.
  22. That we can agree on. Kenny f***ed up and gave Valentin twice his value. Just don't pretend like the team plays better without Jose.

    Apu

Hey, Jimbo, Cronenberg is off limits.
  24. Rowand at his COLDEST is better hitter than Harris; he plays adequate CF, can bunt and could steal bases if given a chance -- not as well as Harris, but you can't have it all. And btw....Uribe has been one of my favorite players since ST, so there goes your "bias" theory. You're gonna have to live with Jose going 1-for-15 in the next few games because there is no way he hits ML pitching right now, coming off DL. Like it or not.
  25. Whatever. Harris is a proud owner of 255 career OBP and an even worse slugging. And most of that came in the pressure free-September call-ups -- and most of THAT came against RHP because Sox didn't even bother playing him against lefties....And as a REGULAR, he'll have to see lefties pretty often. And did you see his hits lately? Mishandled comebackers to the pitcher, bunt and a couple of bloopers on 1-2 count. When was the last time he SMOKED the ball?
