QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) No matter how convincing some blurb from Cheat's blog may be I'll just go with common sense which tells me that players signed to minor league deals don't go on the 40 man roster, that's sort of the whole point of signing someone to a minor league contract; they don't take up a roster spot. And now after looking at Rotoworld I see that they confirmed 2 days after the Sox signed Nix that it was a major league deal. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...=MLB&id=488 ur always right

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Nix signed a major league deal that's why he's on the 40 man roster. Nix/minor league deal

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Wise was doing just fine until he was forced to play every day due to Q going down. Then he was exposed. thats the thing though, we fear that ozzie will do the same again

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) Double the playing time, the opportunity to mentor a young catcher (something he enjoys), lesser competition and he gets to live and play in San Diego. ur too smart kalapse

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) San Diego was a much better fit for Blanco. and why is that?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Both Edmonds and DeRosa were two of their best hitters last year. They are losing alot on that side of the ball. When Bradley gets hurt, they are going to have some gaping holes in the outfield. and if, for example, harden gets hurt, marshall sux, bradley gets hurt, theyre bullpen blows, there isnt much they can do come the trade deadline. they have vitters and thats about it. itll be tough for them to get anything. then again, hendry always seems to be able to trade garbage and get players in return (ramirez, lee, harden, garciaparra, etc)

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) They gave him $550K or slightly above league minimum, they won't hesitate to eat that salary. they could of had blanco for 750k instead and he actually would have helped.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) 31 26 I think age and ceiling is why you keep Anderson over Wise. Wise and Owens do the same thing, to have both on teh team is stupid. im sure they probly will keep wise bcuz didnt they sign him to a 1yr/750 contract?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) credepopsup Learn it twins fans. i hope he makes the team:

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) It's not a great fit for Joe. Staying in the American League is not going to help, especially when he received an offer from an NL club, going down a level could have given his numbers a nice bump. Playing half his games on concrete is not going to help his debilitating chronic back problems, only increase the likelihood that he has his 3rd straight season with under 100 GP. He's a big time flyball hitter, nearly 70% of his batted balls end up in the air so he won't be taking advantage of the Metrodome's #1 comodity, it's incredibly fast infield. well im sure it wasnt his 1st choice to go there or anything but he probly doesnt have much of a choice. either he takes more money with minn or takes less with the giants and thats it. well hes taking the money
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Owens at 2nd and Lillibridge in CF is more likely than Anderson in CF. jerry owens sux at baseball. ill take andersons glove in cf and few hrs over owens' meaningless 30 sbs and crappy defense

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) Please shut up about it. We didn't ofer arbitration so I believe we can't negoiate with him until May. its crazy how some ppl just cant move on. the guy could have his leg amputated and ppl will still say we should sign him! cant they comprehend that the guy has a bad back and isnt the player he once was? jeez!
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Brace yourselves sox fans. Joe Crede will be a Minnesota Twin so get start getting used to it. (assuming fields wins the 3b job and crede stays healthy) fields can easily outperform crede, imo
-
its crazy, the economy. who would have thought that had we wanted to sign abreu(5mil),hudson(3.4), and pudge(1mil or less), it would have cost us barely 10 mil for all 3 lol
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Hard to be worse than some of the other money they've thrown at that spot (Batista anyone?) hudson only got 3.4 mil and crede wants 7? ha
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) A Crede deal with the Twins looks to be getting closer http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/hot_stov...deal-with-twins wow, theyre going to give him the moeny. good luck with that lol

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 20, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) Ugh, that's such an ugly list. I can't help but think that Corky Miller will suck as bad as Paul Bako. I'm probably the most interested in seeing what Stewart can do, and I also think Flowers might need a little more seasoning in the minors. As for Lucy, please no. Armstrong? I probably rank Armstrong above Lucy and Miller. its too bad we couldnt shell out 750k for henry blanco -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Miles and Theriot will prob split duty, although I am not in the norm thinking Soriano is bad in the leadoff spot. His OBP may not be good, but his power is scary up there and its obviously where he performs the best. IN the middle of the order he is just a strike out machine. Also, the back end of their pen will implode this year, so will Harden's shoulder. hopefully it happens in sept...if anything, after the trade deadline B) QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) They came back and won too many miracle games last year. Everything went right. When the Sox had a season like that, the next year everything went wrong. they play in the n.l. though..lol
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) if that were the case, then a LOT of guys are gonna be off the list. i guess the sox just feel comfortable with what they have then
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) can't imagine him playing backup - but hey, he is friends with ozzie well at this point its not about what he want. if i were him id prefer to be a b/u than to sign a minor league deal. if u can get him for less than a mil , i dont c why u dont sign him. i guess bcuz about his supposed steriod use?
-
i saw how pudge might have no choice but to sign a minor league deal with the marlins. so theres no possibilty of him coming here?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) So Fields is in early, nice to see. What other position guys are in camp early? i heard Quentin and thome are, dont know who else
