  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Be safe out there, weather is blowing up Where are you? Nothing going on in Oak Lawn yet.
  2. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Walking the number 9 hitter never is a good thing. Lawrie then trying a flip dedicated to Derrick Rose made it worse. It's hard not to walk a guy when the ump won't call pitches in the zone strikes.
  3. The Sox need to find themselves a genuine bona fide superstar to lead this team.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Nice range by Anderson to get to that ball and start the DP. I don't know what anyone else has seen, but he is a much better defender than I envisioned. He's certainly looked better so far than I heard he was.
  5. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Good news is they are facing a bad pitcher. Time to get some runs. They should be able to knock this pitcher out soon. He's throwing nothing but straight fastballs.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Bizarrely quiet game thread tonight. It's the lull before the storm.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) B Expectations were probably too high. My main issue with Rodon right now is that he almost always gets hurt throwing 91-93 MPH fastballs when he can throw 95-97 and even hit 99 once or twice today. (Seems he's trying to emulate Sale, but lacking his command...maybe this comes from Don Cooper and wasn't Carlos' idea, in order for him to pitch deeper into games). I think this certainly comes from Cooper. Most pitchers lose velocity after Coop works with them for a while. Maybe it's time to try a fresh approach with White Sox pitchers.
  8. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Agree. But I know a good place to start. A few weeks ago there was talk the Red Sox and White Sox were both interested in Shields. Obviously both scouted his last few starts in SD. But the Boston papers reported the Red Sox dropped out of the chase because they felt Shields would not be able to pitch in a hitters park like Fenway. Obviously the White Sox scout was not as concerned. I say fire him and offer the Red Sox scout an offer he cannot refuse. Great post. My position on Shields was that if the Sox thought he could be a solid number three starter they should not hesitate to pick up whatever amount of his salary required as long as they didn't have to part with any significant talent to get him. Trading Johnson and Tatis jr. for him would have been a good move with the salary SD picked up if Shields could even perform like a decent number four starter. But what the Sox got in return is a much more expensive pitcher worse than Johnson or Danks. They would have been much better off sticking with Latos. Whoever scouts for the Sox and whoever evaluates talent for them should be fired immediately.
  9. 2 run homer by Abreu! We're right back in it!
  10. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) Avi with an 8 game hitting streak, impressive right? Trade bait.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Hahn shouldn't be allowed to make another move. He's done enough damage to this org QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) KW was never this bad when he was GM. Hahn is great at contracts, but completely overmatched in every other aspect. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) Just don't get how the scouts watched his Mariners start and thought it would translate well to the AL and our park. Must have been same person who thought Avi could play CF and Teahen could play 3b In commenting about the Rob Mackowiak trade, Hahn says, "`Everyone thought we got him as an insurance policy for Joe Crede at third base, but you know what? This guy can really play some center field.'' (Sun-Times, Feb. 15, 2006)
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) what's wrong with melky? He looks like I feel.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Haha. But he doesn't have a background having formerly played for the White Sox. He was a member of the enemy Piranhas and supposedly disliked everything about us. That's a good thing.
