  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) A 30 year old lefty from the NL. What could go wrong.
  2. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) The Garcia thing is just such a disappointment. Finally get a touted guy and he has no power. Touted by whom, Rick Hahn?
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Eaton? Also we were completely dreadful against LHP on offense this year, Schwarber would only exasperate that problem. Who needs Schwarber when the Sox have Avi Garcia?
  4. If the Sox drafted Schwarber I wonder if they would have failed to develop him and he would be a bust.
  5. I wonder if the Cubs would take Rodon for Schwarber?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Ballgame, Cubs have a horseshoe so up their ass this season. Every decision Maddon takes turns out golden.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) All of the factors play into why they should replace Ventura: 1- As far as I know, he had no aspirations to manage before October, 2011. 2- They spit out a division in 2012. 3- They lost 99 games in 2013---and he got an extension. 4- They play sloppy baseball. Like it or not, that is a reflection on the manager. 5- They sucked again in 2014 6- The front office went out and made moves we perceived to be positive. They certainly had expectations themselves to win going into this season. 7- They sucked again in 2015 It doesn't matter if it was his fault or not. When a team sucks like they've sucked, you make a change. It was a joke he got hired in the first place. To keep going back to this group year after year is an insult to the fanbase. There has to be qualified candidates out there that they can bring in, and make a better decision for the team. Then you give that guy a 3-year deal which is pretty standard, and try something new. If that doesn't work, you go to the next guy. That's how it works. 5 years for Robin Ventura after these last three? That's a joke. Excellent post.
  8. Baines didn't seem to contribute much as a coach. Glad he finally quit.
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) If I told you I was taking the bait from a former Sox manager with no axe to grind who proved to be right since he told me a week ago Parent was out the door would that change things for you? I don't make this stuff up, I don't try to stir up s***. I pass good information on from my sources in the Chicago media and in the Sox organization to the fans who still care enough about this franchise. Period. You can take it, leave it, throw it in the garbage...doesn't impact me at all...just trying to pass along what I hear from time to time. If the board wishes me to stop, please let the mods know, they'll tell me and I'll refrain from doing so in the future. Fair enough? Really its that simple. Mark I enjoy your posts and am glad you came over to this board. Just my two cents.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) By that theory alone, they should go with Viciedo over Garcia. Yes, they should.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Also forget trading Q, the real piece Hahn should be using is Sale to get some impact bats I agree with this.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Oh no Trayce Crap. Hope it's not too bad.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) 670 The Score ‏@670TheScore 4h4 hours ago ICYMI Ozzie Guillen deserves a chance to manage again, writes @MLBBruceLevine: http://cbsloc.al/1VXTFkD Let him manage the Cubs. The Sox could take Maddon's contract off their hands as a favor to Ozzie.
  14. Whatever the remainder of the rotation would be, Wilbur Wood would be in it pitching on two days rest.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) First order of business is finding a manager. Ventura has done nothing to deserve another year There's a better chance that John Danks wins the Cy Young award next year than JR allowing Ventura to be fired.
  16. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Not good, from what I've heard. Thanks. Just what we need - sigh.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) You have to kidding me. This is a joke right? You mean the White Sox? Yes.
  18. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) I hope Guppy can get his ERA over 5.
  19. QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 10:41 AM) The writing's on the wall; I don't think KW will still be with the Sox next season. Well let's hope he takes Hahn along with him.
  20. QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) I have no personal stories, but I guess he's just an unrepentant a-hole. There was a story about him taking a foul tip off his nether regions when he was with the Giants, and kneeing the trainer in the groin when he came over to help. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2005-02...new-sox-enraged That's really the only concrete thing I know of. The rest of baseball's fanbases hitting him just seems to be a snowball thing. "It was once determined that we should not like this guy, so let's dislike him. And of course he headbutted Michael Barrett's fist that one time. It's funny that for a guy that's supposedly so hated by teammates, there are no stories reported in all these years except for a couple during his one year in San Francisco. He was with the Sox for eight full seasons yet no incidents were ever reported by former teammates after he left.
  21. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) The issue with trying to have Johnson, Sanchez and Saladino in the starting lineup potentially for next season is the lack of power. U.S. Cellular Field is a power-park, these guys are not power / RBI type hitters. You can have some of them in the lineup since they bring needed speed, defense and youth but I don't see how you can keep all of them even if Ramirez is let go. Mark I'd like to see the Sox get a competent third baseman with a good bat and play Saladino at ss and keep Sanchez at 2B.
