  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) I think one of the main downfalls of the team this year was the just horrible bench. Cintron's numbers won't look that bad at the end of the year, but he was worthless for the first 130 games of the season. Toby's been the worst player in baseball this season as well. I agree 100%. Unfortunately, the Sox had to rely heavily on their bench players as starters.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) What will it take to keep Gonzalez away from this franchise, a deportation? He's only playing the positions major leaguers don't want to play.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) What has he done controversial to win games this year? AJ has been arguably the Sox' MVP for the past three seasons.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Um, no AJ plays day in and day out, plays the most demanding position and plays it well, and comes through in the clutch. And every now and then does something "controversial" to win big games. Um, yeah.
  5. Josh no-Fields stands and watches the catcher run back after a dropped third strike then gets thrown out at first. I hope the Sox are through drafting football players to play baseball.
  6. I didn't see today's game. How did Fields look in LF today?
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) I think it depends on the conditions. Like that game that started at 11 or whatever it was the other night... that was a MLB decision not the team or the umps. I also think comparing a game cancelled in May and one cancelled in August is a stretch. Normally the decision to play or not is in the hands of the home team up until the game starts, then it is turned over to the umpires. In the case of the other night, Comcast reported that since it was Boston's only trip to Chicago this season, the decision was being made by MLB rather than the home team.
  8. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Can somebody shed details on the Pierzynski/Walker incident? They're discussing it on the Red Sox broadcast as if I'm supposed to know what happened. Freakin' Remy. What are they saying?
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) What do you mean. Josh has been solid at 3B. Do you watch the games at all?
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) Wait.....if Fields is in LF the rest of the season, I better not see Andy f***ing Gonzalez at third every goddamn game. I hope Pablo rehabs quick enough to play 3B regularly in September.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) Who else would we have play 3b? This is the smartest move they've done all year, as having Fields in LF is the best move they can make. Yep. From what we've seen of Fields at third, Gonzalez has to be better there defensively. Both of them would probably be in the lineup today anyway, so let's see if Fields can play LF, while Gonzalez improves our defense at 3B.
  12. One more thing about AJ. The man plays the most demanding position on the field, catcher. He plays day in and day out without asking for a rest. In fact the only time he seems to complain about anything is when he is given a rest. I can see why the guy might be a little upset at the way the team has been playing. Also, I doubt if anyone has contributed more to the 56 or so Sox victories this year than AJ.
  13. AJ caught Mark Buehrle's no-hitter. AJ caught Booby Jenks during his record tying run. AJ caught many of Javy Vazquez' solid starts. But does any of that matter? I suppose it's AJ's fault that MacDougal couldn't throw a strike for an extended stretch this season. And I guess it's AJ's fault that Sisco, and Aardsma suck. Really this whole idea that somehow AJ is negatively effecting the team is ridiculous. I'm sure most posters here are nice people but one of my pet peeves about internet message boards is how people can post just about anything and others can take off and run with it thus slandering the reputaton of someone without any merit whatsoever. Again, no offense to anyone here, but some people imply that they have "inside" information and post innuendo without actually saying anything specific with the idea of creating an impression about someone that may not even be true. If anyone has concrete specific evidence that there is a problem why not just come out and say it? Of course, I doubt that anyone close enough to the White Sox clubhouse to have any real insight into what's going on would waste their time posting rumor and innuendo on an internet message board. Finally, I wish someone would post this topic over at WSI so I can use the "This Thread Sucks" tag.
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) AJP wants to win more than pretty much anyone on this team. How do you think the horrible sp's and pen pitchers have effected him? I wish everbody on the Sox had an attitude "problem" like AJ.
  15. Josh Mora now reporting there will be baseball tonight between 8:45 and 9:00pm.
  16. Owens, CF Fields, 3B Thome, DH Dye, RF Pierzynski, C Erstad, 1B Podsednik, LF Uribe, SS Richar, 2B
  17. Fields isn't even very good at 3B yet. I don't even think he has the tools to play SS. He also needs to learn to play smarter baseball all the way around. Remember he was a football player and hasn't been a full-time baseball player until recently--and it shows.
