  1. Rosenthal on Foxsports is saying that this is a done deal: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7703382
  2. I wonder if the Sox can get Kendry Morales back in a package for Konerko and Crede. Something like Figgins, Santana and Morales for Konerko, Crede and Shelby.....
  3. QUOTE(The Beast @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) Thanks for the mockery. Now just for that I hope Roberts goes to the Cubs. That's how confident I am in starting Danny Richar, after all, we did give up "god" in Cunningham for him. I apologize about the mockery. I guess I've been hanging around these message boards too long. I hate when people do that or when people try to come off as know-it-alls and then there I go and do the same thing. If you look through my posting history you'll see I try to remain civil although once in a while I'll throw a little joke in usually followed by an emoticon. Anyway, I'm sorry. Anyway, to answer your question, I think Roberts would fit in nicely with the Sox because it would give them the quality proven leadoff man they need and would allow them to put their CFer down at #9 in the lineup. It could still be Owens or maybe even Ramirez. Or it could even be a platoon of Anderson/Sweeney which would give them good D in CF but is something they can't even afford to consider without a guy like Roberts in the lineup leading off. Peace!
  4. QUOTE(The Beast @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) Do the Sox really need Brian Roberts now that they have Alexei Ramirez? In other words, do the Sox really need an accomplished leadoff hitter and starting second baseman now that they have signed a utility player who is not a leadoff type with no major league experience?
  5. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Bureau, for comparison, how about Richar's either now or at the time of the deal? He is not going anywhere. An unnamed source with knowledge of the situation has reported that the Sox and Orioles had a deal in place that would have sent Danny Richar to the Orioles in exchange for Brian Roberts. However, the Orioles pulled out of the deal after reading Richar's scouting report which was posted on Soxtalk.com.
  6. QUOTE(BureauEmployee171 @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 01:03 PM) Like I said, I don't want to post reports that could affect transactions, etc. OK, that's fine and I respect that. I'm just a little confused in that if those reports are provided by MLBSB and are available to all 30 teams, how would posting the scores of Uribe and Ozuna here affect any potential transaction? Anyway again, if you think you shouldn't post them, I respect that and thanks anyway.
  7. Bureau, Just for comparison's sake, would you be so kind as to post the scouting scores on Ozuna and Uribe? Thanks!
  8. Can any of you who follow the minor leagues closely give us a rundown on the progress of outfielder Paulo Orlando? I was really impressed with his speed in ST last year and was wondering if this kid has what it takes to be a major league hitter some day or is he just a one trick pony? Also, how is he defensively and how strong is his arm? When can we expect him to be ready for the majors if ever? Also, does the pitcher the Sox got for Stewart, Johnny Lujan look like he was worth it? Can he be expected to have a shot at the Sox pen some time this year or does he appear to be another hard throwing bust? Thanks for any info.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:21 PM) If we offered say Konerko, MacDougal and Broadway for Linecum, I'd think they would at least consider it a little for the reason above. If they swung that deal, maybe then the Sox could turn around and offer Vazquez and Gio in a package for Rios.
  10. I've heard a lot about Lincecum, but I have never seen him pitch. How does he compare with Gio Gonzalez? How much ahead of Gonzalez is he ranked by most scouts? If the Jays were offering Alex Rios for Lincecum straight up, would they be interested in Gio and one other Sox prospect (not Fields) for Rios?
  11. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/12/09/the-dugout-f-ks-k/ What the hell was that?
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) How about signing the devil that doesnt give up more draft picks. And signing the devil that we can be 100% certain is not going to show up on the Mitchell report.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) Hee Sop Choi Korean.
  14. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) And I keep seeing that posted, but not really referred to in other places. If that is the case, then I guess 3/$40m would be as high as I would go. KW should offer 3/$48M. If anyone beats that, fine.
  15. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Matsui and Fukudome are friends?
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) If Ozzie really said something about inflated stats for these players, then I think it's pretty obvious the Sox won't get him. At this point, I just hope we drive up his price to 15 mil or so. I really wanted the Sox to sign Torii Hunter. I was disappointed when he signed with the Angels, but not uspet with KW/Sox because there was no way they should have offered him $90M for 5 years. I really wanted the Sox to trade for Miguel Cabrera. I was disappointed when Detroit got him but not upset with KW/Sox because there was no way they could have matched the 6 prospects Detroit traded away. I really want the Sox to sign Fukudome. If he signs elsewhere for a ridiculously high offer, say over $15M per year for over 4 years, I'll be disappointed. However, if the Cubs are able to sign him for a reasonable deal, I will be upset that the Sox did not outbid them.
  17. According to MLBTraderumors, Miggy is about to be released soon. Would the Sox have any interest in him as a backup to AJ? Would Olivo be interested in being a backup at this point in his career?
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 05:43 PM) Ill tell you what. We sign Fuk U Dome to that contract and trade for Brian Roberts and this team automatically looks pretty tough. I wouldnt even know where to bat Fuk. 1. Roberts 2B 2. Cab SS 3. Thome DH 4. Kong 1B 5. Dye RF 6. Fuk CF 7. Fields 3B 8 AJP C 9 Quentin LF I've been thinking along the same lines. If Roberts can be had for Gio, Richar and say Sweeney, I'd do it.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) Offer him 4/52 and see if the Cubs beat it. Offer him 3/48 and see if anybody beats it.
  20. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:06 AM) My offseason hopes now rely on us getting Fukodome. Plus with Fukodome we get to hear what nickname Hawk might come up with that will infuriate the FCC... "The Fuker"???
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) Rowand isn't worth it and Jones probably turned it down (well, Boras did). How's about that for a theory? Spend it on Fukudome.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Carlos Silva, 5/$60, here we go, that's a title contender right there!
  23. I would hope he outbids the Cubs for Fukudome and then uses the rest of the offseason adding pitching. A lineup of: Fukudome CF Cabrera SS Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Quentin LF Pierzynski C Fields 3B Richar 2B Coupled with an improved pitching staff has a chance to compete and even be a legit contender with the Tribe and Tigers if the pitching comes through.
  24. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) He is. I called around to find out. By all reports he is doing very well. So will he be able to play in ST?
