  1. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) This is honestly a blessing in disguise. Crede's a great hitter but he's obviously been in pain since August of last year.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) Lovely AB Dye. Why is it that so many of our hitters have their front leg stay still, and their back leg moves towards the pull side. Uribe does it, and now I see Dye doing it a lot. Maybe that's a new technique that Walker is pioneering.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Jim Thome is my f***ing hero, all they do is walk his ass in the 9th inning and for good reason. He did get a cookie in that at bat.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) We need a clutch walk right here.
  5. It's nice to see a White Sox player that can get down the line.
  6. A dramatic come from behind victory tonight would really lift this team. I don't remember the last time we had one of those. It would be just what the doctor ordered.
  7. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) We need a 9th inning similar to the Blue Jays' 5 walks, 4 doubles, 6 runs First we need the bullpen to hold them.
  8. I'm still more upset with Dye at the plate tonight than I am Uribe.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) Almost C. Paulie sliding 10 feet short of the bag was cool. At least he didn't fall flat on his face.
  10. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) Maybe it's hindsight for you, but I wanted him moved this past offseason, but not for junk like Ervin Santana and Chone Figgins. Good for you.
  11. Dye has really been letting this team down so far this season.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 06:51 PM) Shoulda traded him in the offseason Hindsight being 20/20, I have to agree 100%. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) Its been nice getting to look at our prospect outfielders. Now we better get a chance to see what Fields has. Fields will probably start out OK, but like Sweeney and Owens, once Walker gets a chance to "work" with him, he'll go into the tank.
  13. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) The White Sox are still interesting this season why????????? Starting pitchers. What is the $15M they are giving Thome worth? How about the $12M to Konerko? Alex Cintron and Rob Mackowiak are making twice as much as the entire bullpen? Buerhle and Garland are the cornerstones to this franchise and should be treated as such. I don't want journeyman pitchers and washed up relievers while Ichiro is making $13M. I may be the only person that believes this but I feel the hitting was what let the WHite Sox down last year especially in September. A consistent pitcher is worth their weight as hitting is never really consistent due to the failure rate of 60% for the best hitters. If they lose Buerhle and have to rely on Gio or Floyd, it will be a long 2008. Look at the Twins they do have two hitters better then anyone the Sox have but the rest of their line-up is simply solid guys that give good at bats. These are the guys the Sox need to go along with good starting pitchers, not slow, low OBP guys that may homer but more often than homering will strike out or pop out on the infield. KW is trying to model his team after the Braves organization. That is great but the last time I looked Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine were all given huge deals to stick around, and now Hudson was as well. Good points.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) Joe Cowley Now there's a reliable source.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) If Rowand has these supreme intangibles then why in the hell are the Phillies stuck at .500? Shouldn't they be running away with that division? I wish the White Sox were at .500 right now.
  16. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) Exactly. When is the last time you saw Thome get a clutch hit? OPS is just a number, it's doesn't tell you if a guy is a winning ballplayer or not. Oh, I've seen Thome get clutch hits. As I said, he is a good hitter. But for the amount of money he gets paid, and for the gaudy numbers he puts up, one would expect him to get a lot more clutch hits than he does.
  17. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I actually really like that lineup, well done Oz. It's probably about the best one Ozzie can put out there at this point, anyway.
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) He's not despised. Just highly overrated. I don't see anybody clamoring to trade any big stars or top prospects for him. But many Sox fans including myself would love to see him back here for a reasonable price, like say an inconsistent middle reliever/set up man.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) You must have stopped watching games after the all star break last year because the hitting was was very mediocre in the 2nd half. The Sox offense has sucked since July of '06. The main reason the Sox are off to a poor start this year is not the bullpen but the offense, specifically the middle of the lineup. As for Thome, although he is a good hitter, since he's been playing for the Sox he has been one of those players that isn't really as good as what his numbers seem to indicate.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) You are misunderstanding LVSoxFan's point. Aaron Rowand is a jedi knight and he has unbelievable powers. That is his unmeasurables - he can just will a team to win. He is a winner. I don't understand why so many people seem to despise a player giving 100% and playing hard all the time and contributing to the team with his attitude and leadership. I guess all that matters is the stat sheet.
