  1. It's the offense, specifically the middle of the lineup, that is killing the Sox today.
  2. Anytime Thome, Dye, and Konerko want to step up and carry this offense won't be a minute too soon.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) Lets keep making Dusty Baker look smart. Keep winning. In Dusty I trusty.
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) haha, well so much for him being a 'tough guy'. i guess he's only good for a lucky sucker punch. I'd be willing to bet he came up from behind Zambrano in the clubhouse "to talk" and held him with one arm while sucker punching him with the other. Zambrano probably then proceded to kick the little punk's ass.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) In all fairness, Barrett acted like a dick in this, too. I know Zambrano made the first move in the dugout, but Barrett pointing to the scoreboard was stupid as s***. And then to go into the clubhouse to try and take on Zambrano was dumb, too. Actually, Barrett walked toward Zambrano. After Barrett suckerpunched A.J., he claimed it was because A.J. started walking toward him. So using Barrett's standards, Zambrano was totally justified for taking a swing at him. And Barrett was totally at fault for going into the clubhouse to confront Zambrano a second time. I'll bet he tried to sucker punch him and Z kicked the crap out of him. Kudos to Zambrano for that.
  6. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Remember when Pods/Erstad/Dye was the worst OF in MLB? The worst got worse. That's usually what happens when 2/3 of your starting outfield goes down with injuries.
  7. I hope Owens starts every game in LF and Terrero every game in CF for the next few weeks. Since Mackowiak is hot, he can get starts at 3B and 2B, and maybe come in late in the game in RF.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) awesome. That is the right move. And he should get every at bat this coming week to see what he has. I agree. I'm looking forward to seeing him get his shot. Maybe he will ignite this offense. Let's hope Jerry Owens winds up making Dusty Baker look like a genius!
  9. Owens Called Up. Erstad on 15 Day DL with Sprain
  10. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:34 PM) 15 day DL, just an ankle sprain ....per the SCORE. Wow. That is good news if indeed it is "just a sprain." Some sprains can be worse than others however. I just hope he can return at 100% speed. A 75% Erstad is not going to help.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) Why in the world would the Yankees do that trade? If anything, they need a stud 1b right now. Also, the Yankes and interest in Contreras can't be mentioned in the same sentence. Paulie, Crede, Iguchi, and Broadway for A-Rod, Cabrera and Cano.
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) The top half is all the teams that are shopping and I matched them with Sox players that are a possible fit. Most websites still have them looking for bullpen help, but doing it "internally," which means we're screwed for all intents and purposes. Do I need to bring back my fire sale posts from a month ago? I was trying to be a little optimistic, or at least giving both the "sellers" and "buyers" something to talk about, besides our horrific level of play. IMHO, your opening post to start this thread was a excellent post. It was neither optimistic nor pessimistic, it was informative and a good conversation starter, exploring many options. I always thought that's what these message boards were for. I've seen you make several quality posts over the years at the Sox MLB board, WSI, and here. I can't stand your "fire sale" gloom and doom posts when things are going bad. I like your posts when you are not posting out of frustration. Again, just my humble opinion.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) The only reason any Sox fans think Erstad was performing well is that they were comparing him to the rest of our lineup. That sub-700 OPS does not look good, unless you start comparing it to a bunch of guys struggling to hit .200. Baseball is more than stats.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 01:29 AM) Rowand? He's been pretty damn good this year. .321/.393/.500/.893 that's a pretty terrific line. Say, what has he done since oh, May 6th? G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB IBB SO HBP SH SF GDP SB CS BA OBP SLG OPS 23 97 87 17 22 6 0 2 11 5 0 15 2 1 2 4 1 1 .253 .302 .391 .693 Oh, that bad huh? Yeah it turns out Aaron Rowand does suck afterall. If Aaron Rowand sucks based on that, then the entire White Sox roster sucks worse.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) I would have absolutely no problem pulling a Jermaine Dye/Joe Crede for Arod and Melky Cabrrera deal. I like that a lot. Don't know if Cashman would, but it would definitely be worth finding out.
  16. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 07:20 AM) im sayin jays win 6-4, walk off 2 run homer by big frank did anyone see dusty baker on baseball tonight yesterday? they did bold predictions, and his bold prediction was the sox were going to be the hottest team in june, and at the end of the month, they would only be 1 game out Baker is right. The Sox will start their playoff push with a win tonight.
  17. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) Teams that might be looking at Sox players Giants, Dodgers, Angels, Brewers=Joe Crede (although Braun is long-term solution for MIL) Angels=Dye Braves=any starter, Mack and/or Cintron Brewers=Thornton, Logan or Sisco Cubs=will trade outfielders for pitching help Mets=pitching Phillies=bullpen Yankees=pitching Possible targets of interest for the White Sox... Mark Teixeira Dunn Griffey Rich Harden Noah Lowry Jose Capellan--Milwaukee (reliever) Jose Castillo--Pitt. Chris Burke Willy Mo Pena Baldelli Chad Cordero Melvin Mora (OF) Where would you see Texiera fitting in with the Sox?
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) Sounds pretty reliable to me Yes. Yes it does.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) With the Sox facing all righty starters this series, it's time for Thome to put this team on his back again. He hasn't done much since he returned, and we face some righties with fantastic stuff these next 4 games. It's time that Thome, Konerko and Dye all step it up and carry this team. Actually, it's way over due.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) We have a player just like this on our team right now... His name is AJ, remember the guy who spiked the MVP just because he could? "Spiked?" I don't think so.
  21. I don't believe this! C'mon Mac, surprise us!
  22. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ May 30, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Jenks should start the Bottom of the 9th Hopefully with a four run lead!
  23. Nice job by Thornton. Let's win this thing and get out of that hell hole!
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) If MacDougal gets put in this game, Ozzie needs therapy. If that happens, I may need therapy!
