  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) I am expecting the offensive explosions of all explosions any minute now. So we can flip their cards and see their usual numbers. I actually really believe that.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) Hes actually been on quite a tear lately. True. And it's also true he (Konerko) has been killing the Sox so far this season.
  3. The key to beating the Twins is not letting them get two outs with nobody on base.
  4. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) I'm sick of Hawk and this piranha s*** I'm sick of Hawk.
  5. I wish Hawk would shut up with his "PyranYAS" already.
  6. I wish Willie nothing but success---except when he's playing against the Sox.
  7. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) anybody have a scouting report on orlando? a speedy guy that i have only seen once, a ground out in springn training on tv, but i remember he was incredibly fast down the base path I hear ya. I saw him hit a routine ground ball to the first baseman and almost beat it out. I hope he makes it up to the bigs with the Sox some day. I don't really know anything else about him--if he's a good fielder, how strong his arm is, can he actually hit, etc. If anyone can give us a good scouting report on this kid, please do.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) after the game, Ozzie said that he'd have no problem if AJP and Morneau fought or if the Twins threw at AJP. I heard Ozzie say he'd have no problem if Morneau fought AJ, but I did not hear him say he'd have no problem if they threw at him. If they do throw at AJ, Ozzie and the Sox pitchers better protect AJ. You don't let a teammate get drilled like that, especially because he almost stepped on a guy's foot. BTW, the Indians and the Tigers both lost tonight as well.
  9. QUOTE(Drew @ May 28, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) We get outplayed, outsmarted, and outmaneuvered every time we play the Twins. They respond and deliver, we don't. Good teams don't roll over like we always seem to against the Twinkies. And not to mention Gardenhire is one of the best in the business. Flame away if you must, deny it if you will but this is a fact: The Sox played the Twins much better when Carl Everett was here. Attitude is a big part of the game of baseball. I wish the Sox had Torii Hunter... QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ May 28, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) I watched the Twins post gameon FSN North and I guess in AJs 1st AB, he tagged 1st base awefully close to JMs foot...then after the 2nd groundout (DP), again Gardy felt he had the whole base to hit and damn near clipped JMs foot again...I guess that was Gardy protecting his MVP but I would be surprised to see AJ plunked in the right situation later in the series I'm sure AJ did that on purpose (ran to the inside of first base, close to Morneau's foot) but I'm equally sure he made certain that he did not step on Morneau's foot in the process. A.J. likes to play head games but he is not a dirty player and never takes cheap shots at, nor sucker punches players. He just plays hard and clean.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ May 28, 2007 -> 09:57 AM) Anyone else notice that Josh Fields was at SS the last two games-games that Kenny Williams was in attendance? What's up with that? I wonder if KW knew Ozuna was going to break his leg?
  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 28, 2007 -> 07:46 AM) I actually thought this was a good fit the minute he was released. He is great vs LHP .290/.389/.527/.916, and can play emergency catcher if needed. That adds a whole new element because the Sox can PH with Hall and still have Wilson to backup AJ in the event of an injury. He can play 1B, 3B, RF, and C, and if he doesn't work out, no big deal. How good is he in the field at those positions? All I remember about him was he was a pretty good hitter when he was with the Pirates.
  12. QUOTE(forrestg @ May 28, 2007 -> 01:45 AM) pitching wise he's not a prospect but can strike out. He'll be 28 next year what the heck I say we should give Dewon Day his day in the bigs.. Cooper can make him throw strikes cut back on his walks. If they call him up his arbitration clock is already clicking if that is a deciding factor... he did ok in spring training not real good now.. Can't be any worse than the player he's replacing.... FWIW, somebody with a grand total of two posts at WSI posted that he has "reliable" information that Day has been called up.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) The scary thing is Cleveland's offense is only going to get better. Haffner, Sizemore and Barfield are still not at the level they most likely will be at. Detroit should cool down a bit. Iguchi, Dye, Konerko and Crede are still not at the level they most likely will be at either. It could come down to whose bullpen is better/worse.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) I don't like Craig Wilson, but I like this type of thinking. He's also someone who can catch if necessary, which might give Ozzie some more flexibility. Exactly. If he can be a competent third catcher, it frees up Hall to be used as a pinch hitter or a DH at times. Same with A.J. on days he's not starting at catcher.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) I think it will definitely be Prinz, and it sounds like Gonzalez as well. No need for too many lefties in the bullpen. Can somebody give me the lowdown on Prinz? What's his story, what does he throw and what can we expect from him?
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) Yeah, if they were saying this week that MacDougal's been battling an injury, then Ozzie is an even bigger idiot than I give him credit for. See? We do agree on some things.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) I hate the Cubs more than anyone on this site. However, they have a lot of talent on that team. And I hate the way the Sox have been playing more than anyone on this board. But a little perspective is in order. And for the record, our Sox also have a lot of talent on the team as well. They just need a little tweaking and for the talent they have to play up to their capabilities.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Ha...the Cubs chances of making the playoffs are much greater than the Sox's chances are. Their division might be the worst I've ever seen. The teams in the NL Central simply get their ass-kicked by teams outside their division. I'm sure you'll be happy at Wrigley for the rest of the season.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) I'd have to guess that Prinz, Vasquez, and Gonzalez will be on a flight to Minnesota tonight. The talent level continues to decrease. Sox made this move to clear rooom on the 25 man roster for Ichiro. Dye is moving to LF.
  20. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Fixed it for you. My post did not require your "fixing." This team does not suck. Quality players like Dye and Konerko have not been doing their jobs. This team does need a tweaking by KW, and although they have been playing poorly at times during the first two months, they do not suck. If they sucked, theyd be playing well under .500. If you can't stand the heat of a pennant race, go over to Wrigley.
  21. If the Sox fall short of making the playoffs this year, it will have been because Dye and Konerko killed us for the first two months of the season.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) Ozuna was a solid utility player. We'll miss his hustle and versatility. However, he's someone that can be replaced if KW is smart and Ozzie doesn't get his way. Let's just see what they replace him with. I don't think it's possible to acquire a "utility guy" as good as Pablo (maybe Chone Figgins) and since we've been playing without a major league LF all season I suggest Kenny get one in here real quick. Either that, or a top flight SS/2B who can become the starting 2B.
  23. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) do macdougal and sisco suck, or what? Yes. Yes they do.
  24. Pablo was one of the better players the Sox had. The guy could fly, was a quality hitter and could play at many positions. He always gave everything he had, and got hurt giving it that extra effort trying to help the Sox win. He will truly be missed. Even before today, the Sox were playing one quality player short all season. KW better get busy gettting a major league talent in here quick.
