  1. The floor is what the owners won't agree to. That will essentially end the "rebuild" for clubs because they will have to spend money on players they don't want.
  2. I don't see the union agreeing to a hard cap, unless the owners agree to a floor as well. That will be a tough battle.
  3. Yes, but this implies that the current Mets team has too many 1B and he is blocked. The White Sox can't say that in the OF.
  4. Both will drop more than the same pitch from most other pitchers. It's all about controlling them enough to get some called strikes so the hitter will chase the others later. All of his pitches move a lot. He just needs to control some. I would think the 4 seam will not move as much and may be better for the called strike pitch.
  5. The players will need to give up an awful lot in the next negotiations to get the years of control lowered.
  6. This was the fully guaranteed money. That was part of his negotiations as well.
  7. Depends on the monetary difference. There was an article about Kurt Cousins turning down more money from the Jets to play for Minnesota because of the chance to be on a winning team earlier and some other reasons. The difference however was 90 million vs. 84 million. So while he did turn down the most money contract, it wasn't that much money.
  8. Correct. This is what I meant by penalties, all inclusive.
  9. The issues with primaries though is you can get a significant group from the other party sabotaging the vote by voting for the underdog you has a lesser chance to win the general election. Primaries are like preseason football, you really have a tough time reading the results.
  10. Depending on how hard you work during rehab, it can.
  11. I hate the towel drill...... One of the worst concepts next to the football drill for the curveball.
  12. The pitching staff is a drastic improvement over the one they had to start this year.
  13. There is absolutely no way that any team signs both. The penalties would be crippling after a couple of years
  14. I don't think the reason to keep him down is for the ROY. However if they decide to bring him up they may use that to determine when in September.
  15. Being eligible for ROY next year could also factor in if they do call him up. He needs to stay under 130 at bats.
  16. One thing I would disagree with article on, is that you can teach a follow through. They are correct that the follow through is indicative of previous parts of the motion. However if they focus on a good follow through it can clean up earlier faults. If you've read my posts before, you've read that I focus on it. If the arm finishes too far from the post leg they had a lower arm slot and had a more twisting side to side motion. If the arm finishes near then post leg they had a higher overall arm slot are in more of a straight line motionand can control the pitch better.
  17. That's what I was wondering. If it was only "simulated" or if he did anything at all.
  18. Did Dunning actually ever pitch in games? The only report I ever saw that he was going to Arizona but no updates if he actually pitched or was it rehab only.
  19. If I remember right is was some BS about working on defense. They can't tell the truth because that would give ammo to the grievance. I'm sure Jimenez and his representatives along with the union will file one here as well.
  20. Every other day is probably a little unrealistic. If they throw around 50 pitches, I think it's more likely every 3rd day. If they only throw 30 pitches or so then they could come back with one day off.
  21. He didn't really sign an extension. The Cubs just bought out his arbitration years. He will still reach free agency at the same time as before.
  22. Someone is finally coming around. I've been saying this for a couple of years. Some pitchers are just good at it. Granted it is not a common skill and can't be universally applied to all pitchers but then again nothing should be.
  23. United or untied? Two very different scenarios. I assume you mean United by the context.
  24. According to the article, low spin rate is good as well because it makes it drop more while maintaining velocity.
