  1. All of this is a "could be" 1. Injury history 2. Only half year as a starter. This will make GMs hesitate. Rightfully so.
  2. The more money they need to hand the pitchers before they even pitch , the more conservative the clubs are going to be to protect the investment. Coming out of high school, it just depends on what their workload was. Someone like Schultz will be built up ti starters innings by the time he reaches the MLB. Lesser talents will spend more time in the minors and have plenty of time to build up the innings.
  3. Then that would need to apply to all companies for tax breaks as that is a common lure for them. That would really prevent businesses from coming here and make more leave.
  4. Me as well, for better or worse.
  5. It works both ways. Either extreme is just tailoring it to their own narratives. Lile most other things the truth is somewhere in the middle.
  6. Barring health is a big if with his innings already. It's taking a big chance.
  7. If the data doesn't fit your hypothesis, change the data.
  8. Interesting, anterior part of the rotator cuff. Not a common one.
  9. Don't know if I would agree that human nature is let the performance slip if you are making six figures. It's more to do with are your values more intrinsically motivated or externally motivated. Some will say if you are allowed to do your job without fear you will he more creative and take the chances needed to succeed. However I do get your point many will sit back and take it easy.
  10. It's pretty sad that people only equate pressure to having employment. Many people take pride in their work and feel the pressure to succeed and do well.
  11. Yeah, those are crazy numbers when the likelihood of any of them having an impact at the MLB level is relatively low.
  12. Good basic review and summary podcast episode. Not sure if Spotify will share. If not, mods please delete. Its from the British Journal of Sports Medicine Podcast. https://open.spotify.com/episode/6NYjdBd3hE3oavCdlarM0O?si=l0E70gCaTueNR6srdw1uQw
  13. I think you'll see a number of trades. My guess is guys like maldy, shame, dejong were told they would be traded or released before the deadline to try to get on playoffs teams. That's why they agreed to play here.
  14. But he's been doing it for 20 years. You do it for that long, you get to own it. He truly believes it. Others have their own shtick. They are annoying until they get at least a decade in.
  15. Considering the pitching staff will look considerably different soon, why not start out with a new group. If he helped even a little with raising the trade value of Crochet, Fedde or Flexen et al. It was worth it.
  16. Yeah, these are moves based in Moncada returning and trades soon. Sosa is the inly one they can send down. He'll be back once the trades happen. If there are no trades, he'll be back next year. He's shown he can be a decent bench piece.
  17. Eh, dejong, pham and flexen at a minimum are on prove it deals to get traded to a contender.
  18. With those stats, I would think that the fact that anyone signed him he would have to be ecstatic and how good his life is.
  19. I'm too old to have 12 conversations at once. You misunderstood my comment on winning. Making the majors is a win for the draft pick because so few actually make it. It doesn't necessarily equate to wins on the MLB team. A winning team is a lot more than just the best players. One if the keys is health. Baseball is such a grind. Who knows what Madrigal or Burdi would have been without thise catastrophic injuries that just arent common.
  20. I'll agree with the needing more offense to offset the defense. What the heck do Burdi and Fulner have to do with OPS? They were pitchers.
  21. Major league average OPS is 707.There are currently 19 players with an OPS over 850 les than 1 per team. That means nearly every FO needs to be fired because they can't draft. Anytime you get an MLB player from the draft it's a win. Again, I don't disagree they need better defense. But finding good defense and the 850 OPS is nearly impossible. You have to have a blend of it all with the defense up the middle and your big hitters on the edges. If you can find both like Robert Jr you have a star.
