Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
You're wrong. There has never been a scenario like this where someone is going to double their CAREER innings in a single season in the modern MLB.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Yes, they do. As soon as they go against any physician opinion they are open to malpractice lawsuits. It's not common in MLB but it happens in the NFL all the time. I've been deposed a few times on both sides of these lawsuits.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
I disagree. Everyone knows the white sox are currently pushing him past all accepted limits. This is probably why he won't get traded as well regardless of the contract demands.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
I know you dint trust it. However if it is true there really isn't another reason that I can think of. If it's not true then he should be traded pretty soon and we'll know the answer.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
So your saying that the owners will blackball a pitcher who the team has overused and worn out to the point that he can't pitch anymore? Don't think that would happen. Pitchers have to take breaks all year long when their arms are fatigued. Relievers do it all the time. You'll hear the mangers say that they aren't available on certain days after pitching too much.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Correct. But he can always say his arm is too fatigued and that is impossible to refute. Even without an actual injury he can justify not pitching

He is allowed to go out and get his own second opinions. Also, I'm sure the current medical staff is advising against what they are doing now.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Would make for an interesting lawsuit. Since it sounds like Crochet is pushing to keep starting, he would be hurting his own case. The extention of the season and workload is the wildcard.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
But why else would he demand an extention only for the playoffs?

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
His chances after the way they pitched him are much greater than getting hit by a car. While players don't have final say, they will work with his input. Wait until we see what he looks like at the end of the year and we'll know more. What are the contractual obligations of the team to maintain his health?

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
No, but that's why he wants protection. The number if innings including the playoffs will be crazy.

I'm sure he knows that if he pitches into the post season his health is in jeopardy. He want guaranteed money if his arm falls off.

Heyman live chat at B/R noon central time
It's not me. It's most of the replies on the board. I don't know most of the team systems. It's just everything I'm reading on here is how none of these systems that are from the teams mostly tied to the trade rumors are worth trading with.
-

This is my point. If everyone is already ruling out most teams because their hitting prospects suck, the return will be crap because there is no leverage.

Most agree that Philly isn't looking to add pitching. And if that's the only team, there isn't much leverage to get a good deal.
-

That's fine but name the teams that are looking to add at the deadline that you would be happy with. Most people on the board have ruled out many of the teams that are willing to deal.

There has to be another team willing to trade. So far no ine like the fit with LA, NY or Atlanta. Baltimore won't trade anyone worth it. Unless dombrowski decides to go nuts they really don't seem to need crochet either. There aren't many teams left and the ones that are do they want to give up a haul for Crochet?

White Sox select Hagen Smith, 2 preps on day 1
Agreed. If they don't trade him I bet they begin skipping starts to stretch it out over the season. Maybe like Schultz where he the the Friday starter with limited workload.

Skubal/Orioles talk...
That's a UCL injury. That's what it looks like when it's it's a traumatic etiology.

White Sox select Hagen Smith, 2 preps on day 1
Pretty much. It's the fact that you do more of the conditioning but don't stop the pitching. We can do a lot if things fir the arm and body but pitching is still such a unique thing that they need to keep it going to an extent.

Trade thoughts
Nor out of the realm of possibilities

White Sox select Hagen Smith, 2 preps on day 1
I agree with him on the deloading. That why I'm still so surprised they pitched Crochet the way they did so gar this season.

Makes sense. Go for value at the top of the draft. Thise a the positions of value.

Why, did JR treat them unfairly with the UC?

How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?
Pushing him into innings he's never thrown before? He's well past that already. He's past the number he's thrown in his entire professional career combined.
