I agree. But he us right to be concerned about his health pitching in to October. So I don't blame him for wanting some insurance. It's worth a shot to see if a team will bite on it.

With moncada and Eloy off the books as well as anyone else they trade, he should have e a fair amount to work with. 2025 will be the year to get the milb players acclimated to the MLB.

Once Eloy and moncada are off the roster we'll be better able to see how Getz operates. Giving the long term early contracts to Eloy, moncada and Robert was the downfall of Hahn rebuild. It seems like a good idea at that time to lock up young talent. However with their injuries it's really hamstrung this team.

He doesn't. That doesn't mean with his current performance he is getting paid well compared to other pitchers. It's just the nature of the game.

Those 2 promising pitchers went down really young with significant injuries. Burns had the hip issues that ended his career. Dotson had TOS and needed a surgery to decompress and removed his pec minor and was never the same. This really showed the volatility of pitchers at a time when they were handing out pretty pretty significant contracts to guys like Bannister and Fisk.

For him it's being on the routine. For a team trading for him, the goal would be to decrease his workload enough during the season to save him to start in the post season. They could do it either way. There are just reports that teams have thought of moving him to the pen.

I never said I would pitch him in the pen. I said that, it's been reported that teams have said that. If a team trades for him before the deadline, they aren't going to shut him down. They will still plan on using him.

Correct. But from reports he wouldn't have an issue with that. But there were reports of teams wanting him to go to the pen as it would probably decrease his innings more than those regular turns in the rotation. That is what he has said he doesn't want to do.

It's not a given that he couldn't be in the post season. The option of going to the bullpen for the second half to save him for the post season is a reasonable possibility. However he has said he doesn't want to do that. Maybe the contract demands is his way of ensuring he won't get traded to a team that wants him in the pen for the second half of the season.

You stop pitching in games. Do the off season throwing program and trade him in the offseason. He'll be valuable for next season when he can pitch a full season without limitation. There is a strong possibility he'll have some issues but it's not a given considering how he's handled this year.

It wouldn't be good for his arm to just stop throwing. For next year's health he would need to keep up a regular throwing program similar to a rehab program but at a significantly decreased intensity compared to games. This would fall in line with Bannister's deloading philosophy. However it looks like they are going to keep pitching him in games all year, if they keep him.

This makes no sense. Rodon had years of pitching prior to that with a good base and progression of innings. Crochet has none of that including college which rodon also had.
