  1. How do you know that no one else is offering this type of prospect?
  2. Not during the semester break. Time for brain mush.
  3. Nor should it be with all of their needs.
  4. I have no idea. I don't have any inside information. My assumption is the want the best deal they can get. The bidding and market will dictate what that is regardless of a fans or even a GMs valuation.
  5. That's their choice. It's good to know that you are that closely tied to the team and their inner circle.
  6. Of course there are. It goes back to his valuation of Cease. Now you throw in the variable of his valuation of Cease compared to other pitchers available. If he has other valued higher he may need to bid more on them, if there is more competition for them. If he values Cease higher but the price for the others is lower, he would look at the difference between the two and decide which offer is best for his team. That's why they get paid and also why they get fired if they make the wrong decision to often.
  7. True, there are occasional useful discussions.
  8. I agree. I just don't think Fields has done enough that they should come to this conclusion. However, just like with the Sox, it's their team so they need to trust in their guys
  9. Isn't that what fan boards are for though? Wasting time.
  10. I don't think that different. If he is set on his offer and won't change it, that is exactly saying he knows what Cease is worth, at least in his mind. It's an good quality to stick to your opinion but it could cost you a player. You knows maybe he's right and the players he keeps will help the team more in the long run than Cease.
  11. At this point it's just to drive up the post numbers as the semester hasn't started and I'm bored with no one around.
  12. Wish I would have known just bought a new one. ?
  13. Yes you have. You stated that he has a valuation of players and what they are worth and he won't change that. That's one thing you like about him.
  14. We don't know that 75% of the bidders aren't close. It sounds like from the reports that more teams are entering which implies that most are in competition. These reports could be wrong but it seems more likely that they are in the competition rather than out.
  15. There is no reason to think that this is "best and final" stage yet. Some of the competition may be waiting on Snell to accept or decline their offer which will change their offer to the Sox for Cease. For example the Yankees may lose snell to the giants. Now they really want Cease and add another prospect to the deal.
  16. Yes you are engaging the other 8 in an attempt to get them to up their offer. Maybe they were trying to low ball you and get you to come down. You continue to engage everyone who has expressed interest. They may not raise their offer but you continue to try until they tell you they are out.
  17. Yes because the original offer of the 2 @500k may have been at 400 k and they had to raise it to compete. You are treating the negotiations like each team had one offer and only one offer. That's not reality. The current package from each team is changing and the offers today will not be the same as tomorrow. More teams in, the more competition. If the Yankees sign snell the offers may go down as there is less competition.
  18. I still disagree. The franchise QB, if they think one of the guys is, will change the direction of the organization. They can win with an average QB but all of the draft capital has to go right and very few mistakes can be made. It is less likely to work. Of course it can be its less likely.
  19. How many games has Jackson missed in his career compared to pocket QBs? Of course everyone can get injured, I see it everyday, I wouldnt have a job if they didn't. However look at track record and it is a significant risk.
  20. It always matters as more teams bidding drives up the price. Teams get desperate if they determine they need upgrades to win. They are willing to bid more to get the player. This is true whether it's money or prospects. If Baltimore is just going to give their best offer at the beginning of the negotiations and never waver, it's less likely they will get him. They might have the best offer but it's less likely.
  21. More teams in the bidding the less likely that the Orioles make the trade if Elias sticks to his pre-market valuation of Cease.
