  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Is it full size ptatc...??? That's a cool gift. I can't remember the coolest Sox gift I've gotten... I think all the stuff is cool. Yes, it's a full sized one. It was used from an arcade. I love to tinker around with it. It has a glove to aim for and lights like a stadium. That's why it's the best of the many I have received.
  2. For my 30th my wife got me a Big Hurt pinball machiene. It''s one of the best presents I have ever received. It combines two of my favorites: pinball and the White Sox. After I got it I went to a Soxfest and brought the directions card that sits inside the glass and had him sign it.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) What good is major league experience when you dont produce, just like Joe. Power is nothing when you can make contact with the ball in the first place, and his defense has started to lack as well. Ozuna was always touted as a great prospect as well, and he makes good contact, plays good defense and is speedy on the base paths. I think he is a better option at this point. And when Joe is gone after the season, that is one less hole in our lineup Does the lineup need more contact with no power potential (Ozuna) or more power with potential for contact (Crede) right now? A question for the ages. Basically you know what you have in Ozuna, a utility player who may get hot. The jury is out on Crede. Leave him in for one more year then get an upgrade if needed.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) The team is better off with Ozuna playing third this season anyway. That's true considering he is 30 years old and has so much major league experience Joe is a good defensive 3B and has good power. He will be gone when he becomes a FA because of Boras. I'm in
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) We just need to find a way to win either of these next two. Just win series. Exactly!!! Nothing else matters just win!!!!!
  6. I heard the interview and mostly agree with Jim H. The line of questionong was about past problems ie. Mags, Phil Jackson and if Ozzie and Scott Skiles will be back because he hasn't signed them to new deals. Silvy and Carmen commented that these are the things on the minds of the fans. JR could have handled it better but the hosts ended it by saying they didn't even talk about Eddy Curry's health status. While these are good questions, theey are questions for a GM or a coach not the owner. They should realize an owner does not want to discuss day to day runnig of the team. As JR told them "Those are issues for the GM and I let them run the team." I like the hosts as a whole but they need to realize what questions are appropriate, especially in light of the Bulls doing well and the MLB starting.
  7. QUOTE(LostInBoston @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) Kinda funny - also in the Mariners starting lineup: M. Olivo J. Reed Mariners are becoming a poor man's Sox. 0 hits and 3 Ks combined.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 3, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Herm has talked about scar tissue all along. I have a tough time believing that he wouldn't know that it was there. He is with Frank pretty much every day. Yes, he would know if its there and Herm is an outstanding trainer so it wouldn't slip by him. The question I have is why is it there? Unless it is from the incision site, bone grafts do not normally produce scar tissue that would need to be torn to run on.
  9. This reports should be read with some skepticism. He had two screws and a bone graft inserted into a bone. There should not be any scar tissue involved with this unless it involves the incision site. Another possibility is he has had plantar fascia problems with this foot in the past. It could have tightened up with the extended period of non-weight bearing. His progress should bear watching and may take longer than expected. The latter date of June 1 may be more realistic.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) That would be...? The video clip on the right. For some reason it did show on your last message on my screen. I was missing her already.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Is he a horrid base runner because he doesn't steal 50 bases or because he actually runs the bases bad? Bring back the other part of your sig!!!!!!! It was the best part.
  12. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Willie has all the speed in the world but can't do anything with it because he is a horrible base-runner. I bet Ozzie likes Timo more because he actually KNOWS how to run the bases. true. But I wonder if they believe with Raines working with him if he can get better. I think they knoe what they have with Timo but believe they may be able to get more out of Willie, although you are correct in saying he hasn't shown it yet. With the emergence of Ozuna either Willie or Timo are expendable so I think they may go for the potential upside of Willie. IMHO.
  13. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Timo with a sac-fly to CF. Rowand tags and scores. And that's why Timo will stay on the roster over Willie. Timo is great with RISP and can knock in runs, Willie doesn't. 6-5 Brewers. I would think that the speed factor from Willie would make the difference. This is after all what Ozzie is preaching.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Yeah, but i heard that parties at Marquette end at around 9, so u wont make it back in time. And no, I'm not trying to bash Marquette, but friends that go there(about 6 or 7) say everything ends so early there. I was up there for Halloween and everyone was heading back home from Halloween parties on campus at around 9:30. That's why I don't go to the campus anymore to visit my friends after I go to Bucks/Bulls games. I wish I could go to see the Sox and Brewers though because I want to see Miller Park. I think they are just taking a break for round two to start at midnight.
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) That sucks for him. Why do teams that know they wont' have a roster spot for him continue to pick him up????? In an attempt to use him in combination with another player for a trade? The teams that have claimed him so far are the early picks.
  16. The problem I have with it is that he went from the Sox being one of the 10 worst to the ALC title because of Dye???? If the Twins went down enough that Dye made the big difference then why weren't the Twins on his list of the 10 worst off seasons. He may have just changed his mind but that is an awful lot of "windsocking."
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Okay, I just don't understand how the Sox defense could be worse this season than last season... 2004 Lineup: 2005 Lineup: 1B Konerko 1B Konerko 2B Uribe 2B Iguchi 3B Crede 3B Crede SS Valentin SS Uribe LF Lee LF Podsednik CF Rowand CF Rowand RF Ordonez RF Dye C Olivo C Pierzynski We are the same defensively at 1B, 3B, and CF. We got slightly worse at 2B from Uribe to Iguchi. We got worse at C from Olivo to Pierzynski. We got alot better at SS from Valentin to Uribe. We got alot better at LF from Lee to Podsednik. We got slightly better at RF from Ordonez to Dye (2000 A.L. Gold Glove). I agree. While it might not be a stellar defense, it is sure better than the one we had last year.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Its all supply and demand. If the general public were buying up the Sox at 83 wins, it wouldn't stay there, it would go up. If no one were buying the Sox at 83, they would fall. Outside of setting the initial lines, the casinos are only responding to buying pressure when they move their lines around. This is correct. Remeber all betting lines are where they feel they can get the most action, not where they think the team will actually finish.
  19. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Just think if any team would have only had to pay $250K for Manny Ramirez last off season... That's true I forgot about that. Must must be the senility setting in.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) If you claim someone off of waivers, you are responsible for their entire contract as it exsists. If you sign someone after they have been released then you are only responsible for what you sign that player for. OK, I wasn't sure about the process but I thought there was a different rule with claiming someone off waivers.
  21. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) FWIW, Davis was waived and no team claimed him. He can now either accept his assignment to AAA or waive his $1 mill contract and become a FA and sign with another team for prob. near the minimum. Davis' has no trade value, even if some of us thought he did, as teams could have had him for his salary w/o giving up any players. This really says what other teams think of him. Isn't the waiver rule that if someone else claimed him they would be responsible for only the MLB minimum of about 250,000 and the Sox would pay the rest? That means no one else likes him even that much.
  22. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) I'm not saddened by it. I can get tickets just about any time I want. I don't want "loyalty" like the Red Sox have. I agree. I have partial season tickets and usually don't need to wait in line for beer or the bathroom, so I don't miss any of the live action..
  23. In the sprots weekly I got today, more of the experts picked the tribe to win the central than the twins. The sox got no votes. I agree that I just don't the pitching holding up. But that offense will more fearsome.
  24. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) - Says he's 100% healthy. - He will be our opening day starter. Music to my ears!!!
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) Can't argue with that at all. Personally I would be thrilled if he was the last RHP in the pen instead of Politte. I agree. Over the last two years I think he has been better. Especially if Adkins had gotten more consistent work.
