QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) OMG! Seriously not funny. It's original. You have to give them that much.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) Is your original post about those two still floating around somewhere? It was printed in SI, completely out of context I might add.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 08:34 AM) That's what i meant. If you have a long post explaining something interesting than ok fine. But lot of Loong post are crap. My style is mostly short. I got ripped for it, that's all. Thanks Yas, Hope everything is ok with you, long time no talk Glad to help Josh. I'm doing great. Hope things are well with you.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:30 AM) I just want to say that this report is going to be better than expected since not only is the Mets guy giving up names but you have the Yanks Strength and Conditioning coach giving out names and saying he supplied Clemens with roids. I just want to see SI run a reprive where they can say Soxtalk.com was one of the first to break the news about Clemens roid use Also, I'm going to move this thread to the PHT thread. I just know a few Sox players will be in it and its such major news that I'm going to pin it over there. Plus it will keep us distracted from the Sox inactvity (heck, maybe we'll get all excited about the inactivity because some of the guys the Sox were after end up being on the list). Vindication!!!!

QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) Here we go again.... I really don't mind the second guessing and the criticism, but the "Kenny is stupid" nonsense is really ridiculous. Yeah, the Stanford guy that played the game, was director of the farm system, and now GM of several years is just plain "stupid." But we the message board posters, who have no clue what actually goes on other than what we read in the media are the "intelligent" ones. How absolutely ignorant. As for Fields, Kenny will not trade him unless he gets a very significant piece in return. While he's shown he will trade anyone for what he feels is the right piece, he isn't going to deal away Fields, whom he views as a future all-star, for a marginal upgrade in Crisp. Sure, Fields was available for MCab. He would be available for a frontline pitcher. But he's not going to be available for Coco Crisp. We all know how badly Kenny wanted Scott Linebrink over the past two seasons. The Padres demanded Fields in return. The deal wasn't made. So I think it's clear it's not going to be made for Crisp. Don't you know that there a bunch of baseball geniuses on here? Hell, just look at some of the trade proposals that fly around this site. That should tell you all you need to know.

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 08:43 AM) In truth, he had more to do with quickly dismantling a World Champion, than putting it together. This team had a long string of 90 win and competitive seasons under Ron Schueler than under Williams. Williams was busy ruining the farm system he was in charge of before being given the GM job over more qualified people. Larry Himes drafted and developed our star players of the early 90's. Know what you are talking about before calling me an ingrate. 2000 AL Cent 95-67 (.586) 1999 AL Cent 75-86 (.466) 1998 AL Cent 80-82 (.494) 1997 AL Cent 80-81 (.497) 1996 AL Cent 85-77 (.525) 1995 AL Cent 68-76 (.472) 1994 AL Cent 67-46 (.593) Here's a list of the last 7 seasons before KW took over as GM. I don't see 'a long string of 90 win' seasons under the esteemed (in your opinion) Mr. Schuler.

QUOTE(buckweaver @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 07:25 AM) You are all a bunch of ingrates. The guy puts together the only Chicago baseball world championship in our lifetimes, goes after marquee names and is consistently putting a competitive product on the field. He's done so every year in his tenure. You don't think he's anguishing over the fact that his top moves got thwarted? And why did that happen...because every other general manager of a major league team is working his ass off to better his team, too. You want the days of Ron Scheuler, who was too afraid to make a move without someone wiping his ass? You want Larry Himes back? You want the times when, maybe, we rented a decent player or two for a season but couldn't afford to keep them? You wonder why the Chicago White Sox are considered a small market team playing in one of the three largest cities in the country...it's because of THAT crappy history of GMs. Kenny Williams is responsible for moving this organization into the league to compete with the big boys. I'd rather be a fan of a team that swings and misses than one who never steps to the plate. So why don't all you constant complainers move across the city...you'll fit right in. I'm with you 100%. Regardless of what any of these ingrates have to say from this point on, I am in complete agreement with you. Well, maybe not the comparison to Cub fans, but everything else.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 10:23 AM) My Lord, A lot of New Adm. Here. Thanks NorthSide. I think I make my Point. Don't neeed loooong posts. Sometimes, short and to the point is more effective than a long, meandering post by someone that likes to read their own crap. Then again, there are many longwinded posts that are very insightful. Everyone has their own style, and I don't see where length of post should have any bearing on quality of post.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) To Kenny Williams: After failing to sign T.Hunter to the 5 year, 75 million deal, you said in regards to Aaron Rowand, that you can't spend 1.00 if you only have .50 cents. Please clarify The quote was an analogy KW used when talking about why he didn't Miggy Cabrera. He was talking minor league talent, not dollars. If you're going to use a quote, put it in the proper context.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 11, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) I think Navarro set this franchise back farther than any other player single handedly did in my lifetime. Agreed.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) He was released because he refused to go to the minors. I don't see how that changes the main point. In 2005, Shingo sucked.
-
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) Yes, although it seemed as though Shingo had gotten the kinks out when he got sat for Herm, who was just pitching out of his mind. It wasn't that Shingo was pitching all that badly when he got replaced - it was that Herm was pitching that well, no? Shingo couldn't have been pitching too well. He was released not long after losing the closers role.

QUOTE(toasty @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) I wish people would quit saying that trading Konerko is an option. Unless he is injured and production tanks, Konerko is here till he either A ) he dies B ) he retires, or C ) refuses to sign a new contract when current one is up. He's the captain, folks. like it or not. At some point during the season, Konerko's 5/10 year no trade benefit kicks in. It would not shock me at all to see him moved before that happens.
-
QUOTE(heirdog @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) If he left that part off, then it could be interpretted that he and Brian are not really sure why he has sucked so far. Since he is young and looking for a big time gig, its better to say he had some growing up to do versus: "He is really working out this year to make sure his body is healthy and working on fixing the holes in his swing." While neither is good, its better to have "attitude issues" versus "skill set issues" when you are young because someone will feel that its "all a part of growing up" or that a "change in scenery" will do him some good and perhaps trade for him and make him a starter. Every half ass scout knows BA has holes in his swing. Nobody is going to change their opinion based on what his agent says or doesn't say. The proof is in the pudding. We'll see in ST if the pudding is sweet or rancid.
-
I don't think we are in a position to not give somebody, anybody, a shot that might help the team. Maybe BA has finally matured from a kid to a man. I don't know, but I wouldn't write him off because of the past.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) There is plenty to be upset about. But, I agree with your overall point. Some of this THE TEAM IS SCREWED FOR 10 YEARS!!!!!!!!!! crap is pretty laughable. I just hope you don't get run down by the runaway panic-and-doom train because of your post. I agree with him too. This site is getting damn painful to visit.

QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Hunter was hte number one target, I have no idea what his back up was but it appeared or at least in the press they indicated they talked to rowand before hunter. therefore he is stuck. So yes in a way, he needed to be better prepared if he lost. H8unter was the orignal target, step up or don't target at all. it appears he mis judged his worth or the players involved. Its his job! not ours. That's crap. Step up or don't target at all. C'mon. KW gave a good, stand up shot at getting Hunter. It didn't work because some other GM decided Hunter was the second coming of Ty Cobb or something. If KW would have signed Hunter for those same numbers, you'd have been ripping his ass for overpaying him. This is no longer worth my time. I'm outta here.
-
QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) Just because I disagree with his moves doesn't mean I am right. I think he targeted Hunter, he missed, his fall back options are limited, Hunter of course was the key, he brings star status, good D, and a nice bat, you could then live with owens leading off although I would rather have a drunk freel. He signed Uribe, which he mis calculated, and he over paid for linebrink who I think will get worse not better, but that needs to play out. Quentin is anice pick up but he may not pan out, you don't know, and to have these holes for a team that is old and suppose to go for it, I question the strategy. Now your right he is not done, but I think he will appease fans by getting Rowand which is no big deal quite frankly. I suppose we are hinging this season on Quentin and Floyd. Two big risks as it stands now. So, because the LAA were willing to over pay for Hunter at $18M per for 5 years, Williams mismanaged?

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 09:41 AM) So you'd rather have Jerry Owens who'd NEVER hit 20 HR or Drive in 85 runs and may never hit 280? Pay up. Why are You are being Frugal for a team and sport that has $ coming at them from TV, Sponsors, and who knows what. Everything is sponsored at the games.
