  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) Paul Konerko. I know what you mean. Where's the 'rolleyes' smilie when you need it.
  2. The last big name free agent signed by the Sox: Albert Belle The last big name free agent signed by the Cubs: Greg Maddux
  3. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) Who would the wild card team play in the playoffs?? If the wild card comes from ALC, they'd play the 1st place with the best record from the ALE or ALW.
  4. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:25 AM) I am getting nervous about this series!!! Let it begin already!!!! This is the opportunity we've been waiting for. Let's Go White Sox!
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) I believe the gateway comes into play more on the method of purchase. What is the hardest drug the local convinience store sells? The one he bought the cigarettes from? What is the hardest drug the liquor store sells? Now what is the hardest drug that the guy who is supplying his pot sells? If you legalize pot, I don't think it will cause more people to try harder drugs. In fact. I think it would cause less people to. But I do agree it is a gateway. The user accepts illegal activity, they now have access to illegal drugs, the user now has everything necessary for harder drug use. Which, basically, is one arguement for the legaization of pot. If you eliminate the need to go to dealer to get pot, then user acceptance of illegal activity is no longer part of the equation.

    Left field

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) I wouldn't mind at all seeing us swing a deal to get the hitter we just saw hitting 9th in the Yankee line-up Melky Cabrera he's young, has good developing power, speed, has a great eye, can work the count, and can be steller in D especially playing left field. If we can somehow pray him away from the Yankees, I'd be estatic. I haven't watched him play all that much, but I was under the impression that Melkey left a lot to be desired defensively in LF.
  7. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) With all due respect, why would any team that "wants to compete now" trade for Garcia? How does a 4.90 ERA help a team compete? Given how his stuff has turned to hamburgers, why would any team expect him to return to his old form? The Dodgers trading for Maddux is an indication of the value of veteran starting pitchers. Freddy also has that rep of being a big game pitcher. If you think he has little or no value on the trade market, you are mistaken.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) The sox are second in baseball with 42 sacrafice flies this year... Stats are so overrated.
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Perhaps I should rephrase then: the pressure SHOULD BE off. Because like it or not, we are a longshot right now. Maybe playing game to game without constantly thinking of 2005 is just what we need right now. No. We are not a 'long shot'.
  10. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) All. part. of. the. game. If Brandon hadn't put it on a platter for Cabrera then it wouldn't have been a nail biter. Fielders make mistakes and its not a good win. Pitchers make mistakes and its a good win. Frustrating thing about baseball but thats the way it is. Any win is a good win.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) considering the lineup plus the umps inconsistent strike zone... And the fact that he pitched out of all those tough situations is what im giving him props for. Most pitchers in the same position give up a boat load of runs and we lose but he fought through it. Yes he did. He made the pitches when he had to.
  12. ARod v Thorton.... this match up scares me.
  13. Gotta go to work guys. Bring home a White sox winner!
  14. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) I'm going to throw something out there right now. If, for whatever reason, Rivera gets in this game tonight, last night's rally will become important. Because of that rally, he had to pitch last night. And that'll mean that he's pitching 3 straight nights -- not optimal. Good point. But, let's hope it's not a Rivera situation.
  15. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) Thome ready to lay one down. Not a bad idea in this situation.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) The entire team has been a pain in the ass. Can't argue that.
  17. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) of all these yankee hitters... its melky f-ing cabrerra who has hurt us most in this serires Cano's been a pain in the ass too.
  18. QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) It's a pretty obvious guess if you ask me, though. They had to guess what pitch he was going on.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) I don't mind it. I'd rather have Iguchi leading off next inning. Which is another reason that it was a smart play. The Yankees just guessed right. It happens.
  20. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Can I just ask why?!? Gooch swinging a hot bat....Mussina has his vagina all puckered...why? Maybe, just maybe, to get the runner into scoring position with two out?
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) If Damon and Pods played catch with each other in the outfield, they would need a cut-off man. Great line.
  22. Any basehit to CF scores that run.
