QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 02:14 PM) Call me crazy, but I'm thinking that the Tigers are gonna be the one to watch this year. The Twinkies, sorry window is closed. Cleveland will still be good sure, but lets be honest no way Wickman has that kind of year again, and thats with all their 1 run losses. My bet is on Detroit making a run at us this year. They are young(for the most part), talented and have a lot to prove. Of course, that run is gonna fall short when Rogers gives up a walk-off to Rally Crede on 9/20/06. word is bomb. "JOOOOOOOEEE CREEEEDE" Then he'll punch out the nearest available cameraman.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Yes I agree in theory Yas but I would also say this ... if KW thought any of those three minor leaguers were even close to ready, he wouldn't have chased Myers. See: Brian Anderson. Actually, after I made that post, I rethought it. I agree with you. I think Kenny's got a Plan B.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) lol if we had that many awards I'd still probably wouldn't get an award. I'm completly average when it comes to posting. It's not really a bad thing though. I nominate WilliamTell for the Soxtalk Most Completely Average Poster of the Year Award!

How about something from a song? .... a ballgame on a rainy day.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I get it, she should go up there, rip on Gays, ex-presidents, anything non-christian, and not expect students at a college to get upset. Not only did she walk right into the situation knowing that it would be volatile, she instigated it more with attacking everything she doesnt agree with. Oh but this is a liberal-conservative thing, I forgot that common sense and respect arent necassarily required when making a speech. Yeah, I read Anne Coulters quote the first time. Apparently, they aren't necessarily required when attending a speech.

I'm just the messenger. I have heard of this guy before. We'll see what, if anything, comes of this.

Congress to look into 'deeply flawed' BCS
YASNY replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Seriously.. WTF is going on in Washington.. Our Economy is in the toliet, We have a illegal war going on, a natural disater in the south that left millions of americans with out homes.. And this is the s*** Congress worries about? They have no clue.. They f***ed up with allowing us to invade Iraq, and now to make them look beter they come in and declare that baseball needs to clean up its act, and now the BCS needs to be fixed.( And I don't mean "fixed" as in the way it is set up now). They have no clue what the American people want and lost all hope of reality.. I think we need to revolt to take our country back for the people. There will soon be a knock on your door. It's been nice knowing you. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Also, gordon will be out the next two games... * tear*. Chadler and hinrich will be able to play. Krause is a douche and will not be at the game to honor pippen. Maybe Pippen didn't want him there.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) you have proof? Show proof that he was. Innocent until proven guilty in this country.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) Actually, I would even say that several of Cleveland's guys had fairly poor years last year compared to what we might expect of them. Hafner may well hit 40+ home runs next year. Aaron Boone hit under .200 the first 2 months of the season, and put up numbers well below his career ones. Victor Martinez hit under .215 the first 2 months of the season. There's no great reason to assume that those guys will get off to a hot start next year, but there's also no wonderful reason to assume that they won't either. Boone is not a "young guy" and he just might continue to decline. Martinez had a horrid start, but he was productive afterward. Expect it to continue. Hafner was probably a headache away from hitting 40 in '05.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Thank God B(owel) M(ovement) signed somewhere else. Can we please stop talking about the WHITE Sox getting this guy now? Yes. I believe we can stop talking about it now.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) The more I read - the more I'm glad Alfonso Sorryass Soriano (A.S.S) is gone. f***wad. Play where-ever you can to help your team win. Oh wait, it's aaaaaaaaaaall about meeeeeeee... (come on, won't you sing along...) aaaaaalllll about meeeeee... Which is exactly why I didn't want the Sox to get this guy when it broached around here at the trade deadline.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Gives you an indication trading Marte and signing Myers was exactly the plan Williams had envisioned. Personally, I never would have made the trade unless I was absolutely sure Myers (my intended target) was accepting our contract offer. If Marte is "make or break" for our bullpen, we were in deep s*** anyway. I think this was a good trade regardless of the Myers situation.

QUOTE(Ricky3353 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Ya the Central is gonna tough this year, but im not all that worried about Cleveland. Last year, basically everyone had a career year (granted the majority of them are young). I think it will take about 93-96 wins this year. That's what was said about Cleveland's bats last off season. Young guys that have "career years" usually are at the beginning of an upswing in their production.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) I agree with you to a point...but it all depends on what Borchard could be moved for. If he's what it takes to bring in the quality lefty reliever KW has in mind, I could live with that. I still think he'll somehow find a way to put up enough power numbers in the big leagues either this year or next to make him worth the cash to someone. Yes. I could live with that as well.

Wow. Some tool on rotoworld makes a crack about Tejada quitting on his team and you all jump on it like it's gospel. The dude has had a very solid team player reputation for his entire career. Don't be so easily swayed by some pissed off rotisserie player that wasn't happy with tejada's production last year.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) What this tells me is the White Sox feel that none of Arnie Munoz, Paulino Reynoso, or Corwin Malone are in the immediate plans for 2006. Not necessarily so. If Kenny thought Myers was a better immediate plan, I'm sure he'd go for it based on that.
-
I also think Borchard will be moved in some way. Though, I really would like to see the Sox give him one more shot. I believe Harris and Timo are as good as gone.

Breaking on Fox News, Iraqi citizens have turned in a top insurgent known as the butcher of Ramadi (sp?). Sounds like a pretty big catch.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) this is a guy playing a game for a living. sure its a lot of bulls***, but a person charactarized as a leader should be able to deal with it, especially one who made a six year committment to an organization. if winning was so important to him, he would have taken a pay cut to stay with a perennial playoff team in oakland. like i said, i love the guy as a player, but and he seems like a quality guy, but he is far from a leader. Notice that I used past tense. He was a leader on the O's. There were several comments made about his leadership last year ('04). He's got it in him under the right circumstances. He may not be a "gets going when the going gets tough" kind of guy, but he does have some leadership qualities.

I'd like to know the sequence of events that occured. Like why did she cut her speech short? Was it because the audience was yelling, in unison, "You suck!"? They did do this. I heard it. At what point did this rudeness occur, or was it in response to Coulter being rude?

I believe I'll just keep my mouth shut on this topic. Carry on.

QUOTE(valponick @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Thanks, appreciate the link, didn't know that forum existed. Rather be re-directed than deal with a smartass comment from a mod of all people. Deal with it anyway.

Tejada was a leader on that club. But step back and look at what happened there last summer. Managerial change, Palmeiro's fiasco and the fiasco known as Sosa. That's a lot of BS to deal with ... I forgot all the Ponson stuff too ... and keep your mind focused on playing ML baseball. This game is tough enough to play when everything is going smooth. No way do I believe Tejada mailed it in for the second half. I'd take him in a heartbeat.
