  1. QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Podsednik to me is a solid offensive player who is the posterboy for our turnaround. But when it comes to actual play on the field he is nowhere near being our team MVP, let alone league MVP. Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, Politte, Hermanson, Iguchi, Carl, Konerko, JDye, AJ. These are all guys I would consider better choices for MVP of our team than Podsednik. I am sick of listening to players on this team who come and play hard and have given a lot to this organization get completely bashed and berated every time they make an out. In Konerko's case he gets grief even when he hits a HR sometimes. But Podsednik gets a pass. He is protected, you can't bash Podsednik! He is the goldenboy! He steals bases and Ozzie wanted speed so he must be the savior. No one cares that he has somehow managed to be a defensive downgrade from Carlos Lee because he steals bases. No one cares that he is LAST in the majors among everyday players in extra-base hits because he steals bases. I love having him on the team but I hate listening to people overrate him while bashing our other players who go out and play just as hard and have meant just as much to this teams incredible first half. The amusing thing is the reality with this team is our offense has still be driven by HOMERUNS. Our aggressive and smart play has made the team as a whole good at manufacturing runs, but we simply do not string hits together. The offense is still very weak when we don't hit the ball out of the yard. Great post.
  2. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Tom Singer from MLB.COM When you quote someone else's work, use the quote feature and give credit. This comes across as something you wrote. I've noticed a few other instances around the board. It smacks of plagerism.
  3. Since this thread won't die, I'll give my answer. No, I'm not pissed. In fact, Scotty probably had a better All Star experience than anyone else in the game considering what occured to punch his ticket to Detroit.
  4. We don't even know if the guy will take the field this year, let alone be called up. This sounds a lot like the Escobar signing last year.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) He's had 2 relief appearances. That's usually enough, around here, to determine what label is stuck to guy for the next five years. You know. Like T-Ball stand, Judy, etc.
  6. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) i think eckstein sucks i would hate to have him on the team, he reminds me of willie harris with a bettter average and slower. he is the most annoying player in baseball i want to punch him every time i see him He's like that jerk that used to catch for the Twins. Annoying as hell. What was his name again?
  7. Juggs, did you really mean to say this?
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) The whole thing just sucks. It's our ENTIRE government, not Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal. If they can vet someone out to save their own ass, they will all do it. :fyou the government. It's not even a matter of saving one's own ass. It's matter of one side trying to cause as much political damage as possible to the other. And it's both sides that are doing it. It's been escalating for years. This political dart throwing is at the expense of the well being of the USA. Both parties need to stop this crap. Both the liberals and the conservatives need to swing toward the middle. As I said before, this nation is becoming increasingly polarized and it's at our own peril we allow it to continue.
  9. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Ok I do type very fast, and yes he does have a dictionary next to his computer. Arrogant! The second R always kills me. I typo s*** incorrectly all the time. It was just too good to pass up.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Oh hell.. I don't think that coffee stain is gonna come off these pants.. Sorry about that, Steff.
  11. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) Hah its early stick around its gets better as the day goes bye. he is so arogant sometimes I bet he even knows how to spell it.
  12. I swear! One guy gets reamed because he shows little emotion and people say he doesn't care. Someone else throws down a bat and gets ripped for pouting. THAT is what is getting old.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) I agree with him. I think the WC is stupid. Especially 2 weeks before the season starts. If it must be done it should be done in November. I totally agree with that. The timing is all wrong.
  14. Hawk is one of a kind and I appreciate him. He is the definitive voice of the White Sox. I don't see how a Sox fan can not like him.
  15. Tejada turning that 1st inning DP was the biggest play of the game.
  16. Willie's been playing with his head up his ass, because he's been afraid he'd get sent down. If he can't handle that kind of pressure, I don't want him around for the stretch run.
  17. Amazing that same people that b**** and whine during the Sox games were also at it during the All Star game. Damn, I swear, I can't understand why you people call yourself baseball fans.
  18. Didn't that happen in the All Star game that Bo homered off of Rick Rueschel. I think he won the ASG MVP ...maybe 1989?
  19. I'd put my head between my legs and kiss my ass goodbye, because Armageddon would be upon us.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I'd be able to help you out for the 19th if you can't find some for the 21st. Check your Soxtalk email.
  21. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) Sorry about the double post, didn't see this post http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36745 Don't worry about it newbie. Welocme to Soxtalk.
  22. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:44 AM) What's interesting here is that Marte is still not on the active roster, at least according to today's Arlington Heights Daily Herald. We're at 24 until Thursday. Why wouldn't they have already activated Marte? So he can get into a couple of games for the Knights.
  23. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) How dare he play the players he has... Their were some questionable moves, but blaming the entire sweep on him is a bit too much, in my opinion. Hell ... let them b****. While they are blaming Ozzie for the "entire series", I'll give Ozzie credit for the "entire first half".
  24. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) The idea of supporting a bad team is crazy to me. I work too hard to piss my money away. I mean, I wouldn't pay to see a bad movie (Gigli, Ishtar). I wouldn't go to the zoo if the animals weren't out. Why in the hell would I go to a game to see a crappy team? As far as bandwagon fans, they're completely necessary to any team being able to spend money. Without them, every team is small market. PS I have no idea how knowing who the director of marketing makes one a true fan. That's just dumb. Besides being a Sox fan, I'm also a baseball fan. Going to any major league game is not a waste of money. The last non-Sox game I went to was Seattle at Texas in May, 2004. Seattle had this very impressive looking starter on the mound named Freddie Garcia. If I have a choice, I'll attend a game involving the Sox ... whether it's a good team or not ... But I'll always take any reasonable opportunity to see a ML ballgame.
  25. I'm looking for a couple of lower bowl tickets from Sunday, August 21 vs the Yankees. The Sunday game is my preference, but I'd also be willing to take some for Friday the 19th.
