QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) 21-16 ain't shabby either, if it wasn't for our red hot start, they'd be sitting pretty. The Twins are definitely not rolling over and dying due to fear from our great start.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Except for the above .300 average, good arm, and great outfield instincts. Other than that, yeah you are right........ I missed the part where Anderson was guaranteed to hit .300 at the big league level.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) Well.. I shouldn't have gone to the boat after the game last night since I had to be up at 5am this morning.. but I did.. and won Some people are just born lucky. :rolly

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Watching Ichiro throw out runners everyday..... $12,529,000 Watching Kaz Matsui hit below .240....... $7,058,333 Watching Tadahito deliver in the clutch.... Priceless Shouldn't those numbers be expressed in Yen?

QUOTE(Steff @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) If it doesn't hurt or endanger or have detrimental effects on anyone.. do it. Usually, if it's something you shouldn't do ... it would hurt, endanger or have detrimental effects on someone.
-
Very impressive. But to bring things into a perspective here, last year at this point we were, iirc, 2 games behing the Twins and we finished ... what was it? ... 9 back. We've currently got a 5.5 game lead.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) When you have something you really want to do, but you know you shouldn't, what do you do? Drink enough that I don't care, then do it.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) I'm shocked that his approval rating is as high as 30% I'd figure it would be much lower, considering. Blue state. :headshake

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I'd be careful to make that leap of faith though... just because there are rules and regs for something doesn't mean they were always followed. This case seems to be falling apart before our very eyes, suprise surprise. Oh, believe me, I'm not making a leap of faith here. I said it shoots a hole in the story, not that it never happened. As zach61 said a couple of posts ago, there are idiots everywhere. I wouldn't be shocked if some non-thinking member of the guard detail at Gitmo pulled something stupid like this. As for the talk about shutting down Newsweek, there's really only one way to accomplish that. It won't be due to opinion polls. If it happens, it will be due to a lack of sales because they will have lost credability.

QUOTE(shakes @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) If he pithces this weekend, I'm guessing his pitch limit will be about 100. Bring on the bullpen early. What bullpen?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) This quote from Ozzie on Rotoworld just cracked me up about the upcoming series: ''If you see [Jose] Contreras hit, you would be embarrassed,'' Guillen said. ''That's why those games are a disadvantage for American League teams. Now we go to Wrigley Field, and their pitchers hit all year and we don't. If you can't hit or you can't bunt, I will pinch-hit for you and you won't have a chance to win games.' Hopefully our pitchers don't embarress themselves batting--but if they keep up the good work that they have been pitching I'll forgive any of their offensive shortcomings. You are probably one of the few around here that would take that point of view.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) YEAH IT TURNED OUT FINE f***ING JON RULES Yes, it turned out fine. BUT DON"T EVER DO THIS AGAIN!!!!
-
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Well Rowand also had a great deal of success in the 2 hole last year, and if it'll make Tadahito better to move him to the 3 hole, I'm all for it. What you are suggesting might work. What we have right now is working. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 18, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Maybe you are right about us waiting for the other shoe to drop but being 28-12 doesn't mean we don't have legitimate concerns that need addressing (at least on a meaningless message board) Addressing concerns is one thing, but thread after thread of curse filled ranting and unflattering "nicknames" for our players when this is, so far, the best White Sox team that any of us can remember is nuts.
-
We need to keep Anderson in AAA till he cuts down on those K's. If we bring him up too soon, we'll have Joe Borchard, the sequel.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 18, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Oh, give it a rest. You guys bash Timo all the time and say he's worthless. I guess Borchard must be some stud though. :rolly It just shows a lack of class to insult someone on a personal level. If you want to bash his baseball and lack of production, that's one thing. But this other garbage is uncalled for.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) 7-2 Toronto leading over Minnesota, Mr. Johan Santana having his 2nd consecutive sub par outing. For what it's worth. What it's worth is a game in the standings! -
Game Thread 5-18-2005 Sox vs Rangers

We'll worry about the Cubs when we get to the urinal. We still have a game against a good Texas team. Need this one. -
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Isn't it the same way with orthodox Jews and the Torah at temple? Way back in my memory I seem to remember them having to wear gloves and be a man in good standing. Could be wrong. I can't speak for that, but this does show that showing the Quran the proper respect was thought out and rules were implemented. It kind of shoots another hole in the totally retracted toilet story.
-
Sounds like a helluva scrum.
-
Apparently, rules for handling the Quran at Gitmo, which have been in effect for two years, are such that the Quran can only be touched by chaplains. These chaplians have to wear gloves. The detainees are supposed to see the chaplains putting on the gloves.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) You have to strike every batter out? It's much better than falling behind with three straight balls, and then grooving a 3-1 pitch right down the heart of the plate.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) Hrumph. I would have expected different from you big guy. It's still one of the most unique baseball atmospheres in all of baseball. Don't get me wrong, that "unique" atmosphere also consists of drunken idiots, herds of yuppie peons, pissing in troughs, etc. but it really is like stepping back into a time machine for some baseball. I hope you aren't the guy that won't go there simply because the Cuddly Ones call it home. Don't forget the "Round-Up" to baptize the ivy with.
