That start against Montreal really soured a lot of people on Munoz. He was the next great prospect around here before that start. I'm sure that start knocked his confidence for a loop. Hopefully, after an offseason, he can regather himself and get back on track.

Ozzie's quote on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
YASNY replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) Their general bias against the Sox is quite evident from all of their announcers top to bottom and their programming. Case in point, Sox win the first 2 of the series, they bury the highlights way down in SportsCenter. Then the Sunday night game, we've got the Twins-Sox highlights early in the show. Now you can say it was since Johan was pitching against Buehrle, but neither of these guys are well-known outside of their respective markets. I can't argue that point. They didn't even use the Sox-Twins highlights from the first 2 games to hype the Sunday night game. -

Ozzie's quote on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
YASNY replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) I'm just talking about the announcers and such...Even though I muted the game and listened to Rooney and Farmer, I can only imagine how much slurping Morgan was doing on the Twins. Actually, early in the game, they were talking about the Twins not playing good baseball. Which was true at the time. Then the Sox started playing poorly and Santana became dominant. What else could they do? -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) I guess all of the ignorance has left the thread for now after everyone has had the chance to realize that one loss should never be shouldered on one guy. Personally, it's okay to criticize guys on this team, but knee jerk reactions after one play are not necessary. In fact, if it happens all year, it's going to be a long one. Ignorance certainly reared it's ugly head. Though now it's playing ostrich.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) Personally I'd be fine if we don't play another game on ESPN all year, until the playoffs. I think Santana had more to do with it than ESPN did. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Sure, but the part where asshole officer Cavanaugh and his partner get a glimpse of your wife's boobs and talk s*** the whole way to the station is the buzzkill. ... the whole time, your wife is digging it.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) this will be an upgrade for them really.... Hairston is an upgrade defensively and he can bat leadoff too making Patteron the #2 hitter. This may actually make the Cubs a better team. I'm sure they could use Walker's lefthanded bat, but he plays 2B like he has a plywood glove.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Since they have been illegal in the US, wouldn't that automatically make them illegal in baseball? It's a moot point, since baseball did not have the right to test for them.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) The only guy that they need to point fingers at for losing this game was the guy on the pitching mound for the Twins. As good as Santana was, the loss was a team effort.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) I am not sure if anyone remembers a hockey player that used to play for Minnesota: Dino Ciccarelli Hawks fans and players hated him. But everyone would have loved to have him on their team. He played extremely hard and always had the ability to kill you when the game was really on the line. Torii Hunter is the same way. Hate to play against him, love to have him on your team. Of course I remember Ciccarelli and I agree. I hated the guy but would have loved to see him wearing an Indian head sweater. Hunter is the same type of player.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) I have no problem with that loss yesterday. Really it was kind of encouraging in a way. We scored two runs off of a pitcher we would not have scored any runs off of last year, and it was all due to aggressive play, and hustle. It was a site for sore eyes. You have a point. But then again, we didn't play good baseball thoughout the game. Crede's stumble hurt, though that kind of things happen. Buehrle slipped on that turf as well, and kept him from getting a lead runner, even though he didn't score. PK not getting the runner home from third with only 1 out. AJ losing that pop up in his former home stadium seems a bit on the bizarre side and Politte dropping that pop up didn't help any. Then you have Politte not holding the runner on, and allowing him to waltz into 2b with a SB. All those little things add up, as we saw with Hunter's HR. We've been playing good, solid baseball but last night we didn't and we lost. We might have been able to take that game if we had executed better.
