I believe Indiana's 10 Big Ten wins and their recovery from the 5 or 6 game losing streak will get them over the hump. When IU lost all those games early, I thought you could stick a fork in them, but they've recovered nicely and are on the upswing. I believe they'll get in. -

For the record, I threw that Illini #1 seed question out there just for discussion. I also feel they deserve it, without a doubt. -

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) by the way if anyone actually expected to go undefeated until we faced OSU then that is more nostradamus like because never in my wildest dreams did I expect us to win 29 in a row and i must say it was a great 29 and i hope they can start another run to the Illini You have to give them their props. to the Illini -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Even if they lose the BTT they still hvae less losses then anyone else... True, but they won't be going into the dance on a roll. That plays into it at times. -

Ok, so now that the Illini have lost, if they lose in the BTT do they still go in as a #1 seed? -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Amazing what $200 wide screen tv's and 7' tall centers will do for your image around the world. China is the greatest threat to America's manufacturers. Billion workers who can A. make things very cheaply B. not afford the stuff America makes to balance any trade. C. in the words of a great American, and Eagle Scout, once said, "giant sucking sound" Perot was right.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) I say f*** Illinois all the time. I say f*** the Packers all the time, as a Falcons fan I have nothing to be jealous of. Your assumption is pretty poor as less than half of the members on Soxtalk are Illinois fans and less than 75% are Bulls fans. This poll is stupid and egotistical. Wow. Lighten up, man. It's just basketball.

I have that Fisk rookie card. I traded two '83 Topps Ryne Sandburg rookie cards for it.

It's strange, but at times I can get SCR clear and a lot of statis on MVP and at times it's reverse. So it really doesn't matter to me which on gets the Sox.

Mark Liptak interviews Joel Horlen First off .... If the administrators have a problem with this link to a WSI interview, feel free to delete it the thread. However, being a long time Sox fan, I thought some of the older members here would enjoy reading this. I know I did. A few notes about the interview that stuck with me, but just minor stuff. I had totally forgot former Cardinal 3B great Kenny Boyer played for the Sox. Former UK basbetball player Cotton Nash played for the Sox. He's one of UK's greats. He was a defensive replacement at 1B for the 9th inning of Horlen's 1967 no-hitter. It turned out to be a very good move, if you remember correctly. Horlen was released before the 1972 season. He was the Sox player rep. Some things never change. On a personal note, the mid 60's were the years that solidified my life long love for the White Sox. Their pitching staffs, with guys like Horlen, Gary Peters, John Buzhardt, Juan Pizarro and Tommy John were a big part of that for me. There's a lot of interesting stuff in this interview. Some of it brings back great memories, other parts remind of painful ones. For you younger guys, this is a good read and chance to learn a bit about Sox history and some of the best years to be a Sox fan.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I just recall a quote from one of my favorite movies, Cool Hand Luke: "What we've got here is a failure to communicate." I would think if an operation like this was going down, the Italian bureaucrats in the military operations there would have informed everybody to be on the lookout for it at least. But either way, as sociologists' Thomas Theorem would say "Those things perceived as real are real in their consequences." so this could be a huge s*** sandwich for the PR Department of the Bushies trying to make it look like this is all running smoothly. So .... You just assume it's the fault of the US? :headshake

Let me pick a team of players who's last name ends in "z" and I'll win a WS every year.
