Steve Stone Joining White Sox Broadcast Tomorrow
YASNY replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Problem is both are color guys. Huh? -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) No doubt he deserved it. Absolutely.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Congress is threatening comtempt for people who don't show up to testify. http://reuters.myway.com/article/20050313/...ONGRESS-DC.html I read or heard that one or more may be excused from testifying. This has Frank Thomas written all over it because of his ankle and the fact he's always been outspoken against steroids. However, I'd prefer he go on record before congress and state that fact.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) It was called About Last Night. Thank you .... that's been bothering me for a while now.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) This year, for the first time in a loooooong time, the Sox will open the season at home. This means that some lame TV reporter gets to go and hang out outside the stadium to collect interviews about the coming of spring and how baseball is finally here. Uh Oh .... if all holds true, the lead story on the news, let alone sports that day, will be the Illini championship game, as it should be. But of course, when the Cub open their season at home it will be that Friday when all the Final Four stuff will be over. We can't win when it comes to exposure. I guess we all have to hope the Illini don't make the championship game.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) To make you see the true evil that is KW.. Don't bother. I can form my own opinions and don't need your input.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) And people wonder Why I hate KW so much.. No. We all know why you hate KW so much. You told us countless times. We just wonder why you have to keep telling about it.

I agree, DBAH0. I thnk the Phillies would jump all over that deal if offered. Hopefully, it won't even be considered by the Sox.

QUOTE(backman @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:36 AM) i could see them utah loosing second round. That's going out on the proverbial limb.

From Doug Padilla of the Sun-Times: Even though MLB wants to pretend they had a blind eye and didn't know that steroids were as prevelent as they are, here is proof to the contrary. Giambi had no ties to the Sox, yet KW got assurances from Tellum before signing Giambi. So, it is very easy to come to the conclusion that Jeremy Giambi's steroid use was well known throughout baseball. If it wasn't, why would KW ask about them?

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Another temper tantrum from the French, as their culture sinks further into irrelevance. That about covers it.

I can't recall the name of the movie, but it had Rob Lowe (I think), Demi Moore and Jim Belushi and was all Chicago ... even with 16" softball.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Contreras is worrying me a little. He should be dominant this spring. But he's not. Why should he be dominant. He's not trying to win and get hitters out. He's just trying to get stretched out and fine tune his pitches. These Arizona games are meaningless.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1522978,00.html Under the circumstances, I don't blame them.

I noticed on ESPN bottom line that MLB is negotiating to have some control or input into the questioning of the subpeonaed players. I believe this story about McGwire, hitting when it did, will put Congress into a position where they cannot afford to negotiate away their ability to hit hard. They opened this can of worms, and part of the reason is to give them the opportunity to look, well, congressional. I think things are going to get ugly for MLB and the MLBPA on Thursday. But hell, they s*** in their own nest, so now they have to sit in it.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) Rusty Greer was pretty good when he is healthy i dont know about that one. Rusty seemed to just KILL the Sox. I've never looked up stats on it, but I hated to see that guy come up in a clutch situation.

*Official* College Basketball Thread
YASNY replied to Heads22's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think it's amazing that we expect a 20 year old kid stand 15 feet away from a 18 inch hole that he has throw a 12 inch ball through while fans are swaying back and forth trying to distract him, yet golfers feel that they are entitled to total silence. -
I can't believe we are even having this debate. These veteran pitchers are not worried about getting hitters out yet. They are just trying to get their arms ready and pitches fine tuned. Contreras' ERA on March 15th don't mean squat.
-
Before anyone makes light of someone's brain glitches, like Ankiel or Knoblauch, they should read Peter Gammon's March 10th column on Rick Ankeil at ESPN website. In fact, I'd recommend it any baseball fan. Sometimes, as fans, we are so critical of ballplayers and in most cases, it's just not warrented.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Once again a leftist proposal which discriminates against those who take sloppier dumps! Well, it's their own fault. If they ate good healthy food they wouldn't have this problem. Think green

QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I wasnt on the bus for school today, but i heard our stupid bus driver stopped in the middle of the train tracks for a red lite, then the gates started to come down and the bus driver started honking wildly and screaming "move you son of a b**** move!" and then the guy went through the red lite so the bus could move up. The bus driver should be .... and probably will be .... FIRED!

I wonder if this guy will commit suicide on a routine traffic stop.

Great thread. Let's hope it dies a quick death.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Mar 11, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) nm. I found out it's Kentucky. UK has right around 1900 wins. North Carolina actually caught and passed Kentucky a few years ago. But it was short lived and Kentucky has since pulled away from UNC.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Jesus, you guys had me scared. I was looking around the net to see if this was anywhere else, LOL. Bastards...your all bastards, haha. Always, always, always ask for a link when something sounds like BS.
