QUOTE(Scwible @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) I know what your saying, seeing an armed soldier from another country wouldn't be the best but it's just that countries b**** we don't help for enough with anything. So we send help and then were shown the door right away. Then later on when they're still rebuilding we'll somehow get blamed for not staying in the country long enough. Of course we'll get blamed. Hell, we've been blamed for not warning them and even for causing the earthquake/tsunami.

QUOTE(Scwible @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) I doubt they would even be here. They'd send aide and then the world would somehow say that we did it to ourselves. That's not the point. Chinese, German, whatever. Of course, the French would be no worry.

QUOTE(Scwible @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Of course they do. I'm all for sending help to places that need it even if they are on the U.S. s*** list, but they're just being jags. Why not accept the help and make your country alot better faster? Seems dumb to me. They're worried about foreign military operations? Why, so the countries that are helping can take over their country? They're way too paranoid. So they can all suck my American Ass, I'll gladly take the money back so our country isn't deeper in debt. Sorry, but if we have major disaster I don't want to see armed Chinese military walking down our streets.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) Rudy T was sucker punched at the worst possible angle. Hockey fights don't usually start like that, and neither do basketballs. 95% of hockey fights are cleverly coriagraphed dances done at specific times to elicit a teams specific response. Both players agree to fight, otherwise an institgator penalty is given, which puts that team at huge disadvantage, so if the other player doesn't want to tangle, the great majority of the time they don't. You are making hockey fights sound like some wild west thing with no rules and no etiquette, and its not anything like that. Heck fighting in hockey is safer than boxing is, yet people pay $50 to see it on pay per view, and no one is calling for a ban on it, dispite people being killed and braindamaged from it. You're using facts and logic to make your point. You know that doesn't carry any weight around here. LOL

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) In no way, shape, or form was I trying to say or impy that, but to jab at the few people on here that seem to think JR is the only owner who pulls things like that. The contract in itself suprises me, since Borasss seems to really hate having his clients sign deals with deferred money. I seem to recall it not being good enough for mags. Well, Mags, you are no Beltran. It wasn't good enough for Maggs because Boras always want to get his clients on the free agent market. Once he switched to Boras, there was no way in the Sox had a shot at signing him. Deferred money was just the excuse they used.

I don't like the idea of deffered contracts. I'd really hate it if we still had Jamie Navarro on the payroll. Back loaded contracts are more acceptable since the player is at still on team and giving you something for your overpayment of him. I can see situations where a backloaded contract would make sense.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 05:31 AM) Saw an interview of Rowand on CLTV. Said he "absolutely loved playing for Ozzie". Brings energy, passion to the sox. ARow said he's working harder than ever this off season to prove last yr wasn't a fluke. A Big relief knowing he's in the lineup coming into spring training. ARow's no fluke. He's just too solid of a ballplayer to be a fluke.

The world is going to continue to revolve around the Middle East for foreseeable future. The Middle East and the oil from there. Considering Iraq's proximity to Isreal, the instability of the House of Saud and the ever increasing upsurge in violence from the funamentalist Islamists, the U.S. needed to establish a foothold in the region to protect the interests of the U.S. Iraq will give us a staging area in the event of troubli in Isreal, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, etc. I'm not justifying the Iraq War by saying that. I am stating that I believe those were the main reasons Bush and Co. got us involved over there.

Here's my quirk. When shampooing my hair, I have to rinse my hands before putting them back in my soapy hair to rinse the hair. Strange but true.

Hookers are people too.

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet of course.

Don King seeking "justice". Oh, the irony.

QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I think I'm the only person around that liked those uniforms. I was so pissed at that time when they switched. Hell, I bought an authentic one of those at The Cell last summer. Those uniforms were horrid. The current ones are the best the Sox have ever had.

He still deserves the nickname of Juan Gone ... but for entirely different reasons.

I don't know, but all of a sudden, is Bonds too old to break Aaron's record?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Respect, and i think he has more than earned it. Sure he (Buehrle, I assume) has, but I don't think it will be the deciding factor. I think they'll look at the schedule and at matchups to make that decision. If Mark has no problem with starting game 2 and it's in the best interest of the team, that's really what should matter.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Whenever people say well if so and so did not have those three bad starts his numbers would look great. Well, you can say that about practically every pitcher. Todd Ritchie? Jamie Navarro?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) I am willing to bet garcia does not pitch game one of the season. Based on what, if I may ask?

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Well Seles did nothing wrong, so no matter what Moss did, it would have to be worse. I just think that if anything is going to change in player fan relation, it will be the fans. Security guards, metal detectors, etc etc. Sorry but under no circumstances is pretending to moon some one a valid reason for hitting them, let alone shooting them. And are fans going to be prevented from swearing, giving the finger, etc? All of which are far more inflammatory than a simple fake gesture. SB No one is saying that it's a valid reason to hit, shoot or whatever. What is being said is there are enough loose cannons out there, like the guy that stabbed Seles, that could be set off by actions like Moss mooning Green Bay. He's possibily putting himself in danger by acting the fool. You never know what one nut in a crowd of 65000 people might do.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) honestly do your really think the sox will even get castillo? I dont think they will and who would they give to the marlins anyways No. I don't think they will get Castillo. In fact, every time a quality player pops up on the rumor mill, I consider whether it would be a good match or a realistic possibility for the Sox. I speculate on what it might take to get the player. But to say that I think they will get a particular guy is going out on a limb. However, it's Jamuary and it's fun to talk, speculate, argue about the possibilities.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Gene picked him over Dustin a couple posts above your first. Cool

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) leave the team as is, theres nothing wrong, unless we lose like six in a row then trade Now THAT is definition of a fair weather fan. LOL

The Blackhawks jerseys are the best in sports. They suck, but the jerseys are great.
