  1. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Considering that Jimenez will be making north of $3 mil this year, iirc, I'm not sure about that. Not sure about what? He was a jerk with the Sox ... and a stupid baseball player. They dumped him fast.
  2. I remember hearing "whispers" about Jiminez. Well, they were right. He tiurned out to be a jerk and a detriment to the team. Clayton did too. AJ has the opportunity. I hope he realizes his career is on the line.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) greasy, I finally ran into one of the fans you speak of that still think Knight can do no wrong. The guy is from Terre Haute (what a lovely town by the way). He kept going on and on about how they never should have fired Knight and how Myles Brand was evil. Kept talking about how great he is doing at Texas Tech and how he'd still have the Hoosiers competing in the tournament every year. I wanted to puke, but I was standing next to his girlfriend and I don't think she would have appreciated it. Ahhh ... A gentleman.
  4. I wanted the Sox to sign AJ, but he does have to prove himself. I think the Sox should wipe the slate clean, but AJ has to do his part. As a fan, I'm not giving him a free pass.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Believe it or not marlins fans at least would take everett over encarcion any day of the week. They always have threads bashin ghim over there. Believe it or not, I'd take Everett too.
  6. For some reason, I keep picturing a conga line.
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) I found this in another thread about Crazy Carl from JDsdirtySox.... "Just returned home from the fest... Crazy Carl looks to be in good shape. I heard him do an interview, and he said he was embarassed by his lack of contribution last year, and has vowed for that to change. " Thanks ... That's good to hear.
  8. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Somebody tell us how fat Uribe is. Would like a report on Everett's shape as well.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) This time next season, if one of Thomas' options is picked up, I may be inclined to agree with you. But the Big Hurt has shown in his career that he doesn't hit well when coming back from a major injury, and I don't really see any reason to change from that perspective. Hopefully he'll suprise us though, with the launching pad at the Cell and still put up a good OBP at least. You know, I really that was due to the nature of the injury. He tore his tricep, and I believe that effected his swing that whole season after he returned from the injury.
  10. There's never been a question in regards to Rowand's work ethic. He's always been a hustler and a worker. I'm thrilled to see it payed off for him.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) Charles is doing the right thing, I guess the Royal Family is counting its blessing that Williams is second in line to the throne and not Harry. And if he wasn't watched Schindler's List yet, he should park his ass in front of a TV and watch it. And on another thought, I wonder what his Zimbabwian girlfriend thought of the whole stunt. Charles shouldn't have waited till the kid was 20 years old to make sure he had a clue about Nazi Germany. As for William, as I said, he was with Harry when he selected the costume. Charles doesn't need to send William and Harry to Auschwitz, he needs to take them. He needs to know his s*** about it too. Tell them what they need to know. Tell them about the backbone the English people showed during WWII. Tell them about the systematic murder on 6 million Jews. Talk to them about it. Get a conversation going about it. That's the only way to make sure they understand it.
  12. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 15, 2005 -> 07:09 AM) "....in world news, Osama bin Laden and many of his supporters were captured in eastern Afghanistan yesterday afternoon when the U.S. military dropped a gay bomb on the area. bin Laden was taken into custody as part of a huge daisy chain of terrorists. As one witness noted, "the streets were full of ass-f***ing Afghanis". President Bush today apologized to the innocent Afghan people who were struck by the bomb, then struck up the ass a few hundred times, but Bush stated that "sometimes you gotta take one up the pooper for freedom"......now here's Tom with the weather....." Oh man! That's f***ing hilarious!!!! Well done.
  13. Damn fine analysis there, Beck72.
  14. Auschwitz. What does that word mean to you? The older folks in here will know exactly what Auschwitz was and what happened there. You guys in high school, how about it? Have you studied it yet? Did you pay attention or were you making eyes at the blonde sitting next to you? Will you know anything about Auschwitz when you graduate? Do classes in American and World History matter or is it case of "Who cares what happened in 1944? It doesn't affect my life." Did Prince Harry think the same thing during his education? Is this Prince Harry's stupidity that's to blame, or his callousness? What about Prince Charles? Does he have any excuse for not making sure his sons (both were involved in selecting the costume) had some clue what that arm band was and what it represented to the English people, to say nothing of the Jews? I think not. Charles is old enough to know what that swastika stands for and considering the fact that he is raising the probable future King of England, how could he fail to teach his sons something about England's history? I'm rambling here. Just some thoughts.

    Race Card

To pull this back to Bill Cosby. The simple fact remains that if the black community would listen to him, they'd be much better off.
  16. Burke knows he's valued by the Sox and has a decent chance of seeing some ML roster time this year. I fully expected him to stay with the organization.
  17. I know as an out of towner, that when I come into town I like to be able to get my hands on some good seats. My opportunities to the Sox are rare, so it's cool to make the best of those opportunities when you can.
  18. For all you guys that want to rush guys up to the big leagues because they are tearing it up at AA, here is a fine example of why it pays to let them learn the game in the minors. Aaron Rowand 2005 Age 27 Salary $2.00 M 2006 Age 28 Salary $3.25 M 2007 Age 29 Salary $3.35 or 5 M He signed for these numbers because he was only arbitration, and not free agent, eligble. At age 27 he is right at the beginning of his prime. Now, if we bring up Sweeney next year at age 21, by the time he's 27 he will be free agent eligle and able to walk away and play through his prime for another team. This is what happened to Kansas City with Carlos Beltran. Sure they traded him, but I'm sure they'd rather have Beltran locked up for the next 3 years instead of what they received in the trade.
  19. QUOTE(shakes @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I am not a moss fan, but I think everyone is overreacting. If TO did this everyone would be laughing and saying it was just TO being TO. No. TO is a jerk too. Moss happens to be a bigger one though.
  20. QUOTE(Pasqua's Mailman @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Thanks YASNY! No charge.
  21. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) OK. Thanks for that info. I just remember seeing him bat lefty most of the time, but since Burke is a better hitter and right handed maybe that's why we don't see Davis hitting right handed more. And ... most pitchers are right handed.
  22. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) wowi forgot sweeney was on the market, he would definitely be one of the sleeper free agents out there, he could possibly go to one of the teams that doesnt get delgado like the rangers and or the marlins Sweeney is not a free agent.
  23. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jan 14, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) Yes Whitesox.com said Konerko and Davis would be handing out refreshments, but I personally do not believe Sox fans will sit out there when the internet and phones make ordering so much easier. That seems to be more of a Cub tradition so they can get on the morning news. Just proves Sox fans superior intelligence ..... again.
