  1. It sounds like Brooks knows the best way to fill the ballpark. Let's hope he can convince JR.
  2. QUOTE(NO!!MARY!!! @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) He is? Isn't he from Texas? I'm surprised to see that. And while everyone is on the subject of Al Capone, Eliot Ness mentions in the book The Untouchables going to Comiskey Park to see the White Sox play the Yankees, and Ted Lyons striking out Babe Ruth twice. One of his fellow agents cheered "like a kid" according to Ness. Colonel Donald P. Conroy, the real-life "Great Santini" was indeed a White Sox fan. In fact, the book mentions the Sox a few times. Robert Duvall mentions them once in the movie. Two great Chicago writers were also White Sox fans: Nelson Algren and James T. Farrell. They mention the Sox several times in their books. As for living White Sox fans, other posters pretty much covered them. Most, if not all, A-list celebs from Chicago are *sneer* Cub fans. One famous White Sox fan that no one had mentioned is former Vice-President Dan Quayle. Take that for what it's worth. I don't know if TLJ is a Sox fan, but I do know he's a big time jerk. He amde a movie down here ... U. S. Marshalls, I believe. He was a rude, arrogant, pompous ass.
  3. Way to go guys. Guy made one post and left. I'd say there is a slight possiblility that a guy making his first post doesn't know the meaning of green.
  4. The best bet for Escobar is to spend some time in AAA and get some AB's. If he has a strong 2 or 3 months, he's nice insurance in case someone goes down.
  5. I deleted my last post. I have generally refrained from espousing my spiritual beliefs on here as I don't think most of you would want to hear them. I feel I went beyond the limits I had set for myself with that post. Now, if someone qouted it before I deleted it, I can't control that.
  6. According to Fox News, Clemens has agreed to a one year contract for $18 million making him the highest paid pitcher in baseball history.
  7. From your President: :headshake
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) US"Do you you guys have anything you aren't supposed to?" Iran"No" US"Are you sure?" Iran"Yes" That ought to do the job.
  9. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) You're missing the point, its not that we're gathering intelligence. It's the method in which we're doing it. You can not rewrite the way the government works without approval from those who represent the people that the government is supposed to be of. The only way to get real inside intelligence is "boots on the ground". I think you're the one missing the point.
  10. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) That's fine but when it's the focal point of every speech it makes me sick. Let me preface by saying I'm not sure about this president's sincerity on this matter, but I'll gladly take a God-fearing man in his position over one that rejects God.
  11. People like this asshole is exactly why the death penalty has a place in this country.
  12. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) How many of you are going to be b****ing about this guy when he sucks at fielding on grass, and he can't hit major league pitching? That very well may be the case. Gotta trust our scouts. I said that weeks ago.
  13. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) we win we win... w00t! just posted on www.chisox.com we got him sorry, that was cold i was lying but thats what will happen... daniel son, wax on... wax off... we win... win off... what the f*** is this guy talking about?
  14. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Legally, you can't give consent when you're drunk. You mean it's illegal for me to slur "I wanna party with you all night long!" Damn! Now you tell me.
  15. bogie ... You're going to have to come up with something to back your stance up. Get something solid, and you'll get people's attention and respect. Otherwise, give it up.
  16. It may be positive, or it may be negative, but I think AJ will have the biggest impact.
  17. Ok. We have a nation that is thumbing it's nose at the world by continuing it's nuclear program. This nation is also very anti-America. Our military intelligence SHOULD be trying to gather information. If Iran does something stupid, you'd all blame our incompetent president. :headshake
  18. This alleged event happened about a year ago. I smell a rat.
  19. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Update: His name is Johnny Williams, and he claims to be shot by a latino at a car wash. He has minor wounds from the gun shot and LE is questioning him. Not looking good... I agree. A gunshot wounds implies a struggle. He was a lot bigger and stronger than here and he has shown up at a hospital. I hope I'm wrong, but my gut instinct tells me otherwise.
  20. I found this: I thought Capone died in prison.
  21. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Iguchi is one option, I agree. But letting him go over a few hundred thousand dollars, w/o having a fall back option would be ridiculous. The sox should also have an option for a deal with someone at least Iguchi's equal, and better than the guys they let sign elsewhere [cora, Cairo]. Taking such a hardball stance w/ Iguchi doesn't make sense unless they were also looking at a guy like Castillo, durham or Polanco via trade I'm totally unsure about Iguchi .... KW called him an "impact player" a couple of weeks ago. But then, I've seen it expressed that some of the "all-stars" that went to Japan expressed some doubt his ability to catch up with a major league fastball. Yet, his salary plus Marte's compared to just Castillo's sounds pretty good, and we'd still have Harris as insurance. I'm thinking Iguchi may be the way KW chooses to go.
  22. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) The author of the article diuspalys a great insight into the game of baseball. "It's got to catch up with him sometime." OK! When is sometime Mr Baseball Wizard? 25 years from now? The statement only deserves derision and then the author needs a good smack up alongside his heae. ... with a 35 oz ball bat!
