  1. As I was watching the game yesterday, I kept noticing how badly Uribe looked in the box. It took me a little while to put my finger on it, but what he is doing is stepping out like an 8 year old kid that's afraid of the ball. I pointed it out to my girlfriend in the middle of the game, then DJ made a comment about Uribe's first move was "stepping into the bucket". This was late in the game and DJ attributed it to the fact that he couldn't pick up the pitch because of the shadows. That's wasn't it at all. Uribe was bailing out all game long.
  2. Garland overcame a 2b error on Gload in the inning before the 4 spot. He looked good doing it too. Then after his own error on the pick off attempt, he still didn't look shook up. I agree that PK could do nothing on that throw. He got one out on the groundball that scored the run, and had the next batter hit a can of corn to short right that Gload should have caught. Then after the Gload enticed error on Uribe, Jonny finally got shook. Gload was HORRID defensively out in RF. Later in the game, with Sosa on first, Gload broke in ona ball that went to the wall. I think Ramirez hit it. Sosa scored, which he would have anyway, but Ramirez got to 3rd which set up the pulled in infield and the shot through Jose. If Gload played that ball right, Ramirez stops at 2nd and that's next one is routine groundout to short.
  3. If they trade Magglio, they better have have a hot line to the D'Backs and bring in Finley, immediately. Otherwise, trading Maggs will be considered white flagging it.
  4. We may be paranoid, but we are consistent about it. That's one of the charms of this board.
  5. Agreed. Zambrano's the real deal.
  6. Why not? A guy who was DH all year, won the 1B Gold Glove a few years ago.
  7. I've read that Baird said he's not planning on moving Sweeney.
  8. Prior looked like he was all ovet the place in that start. He couldn't hit his spots. That's about the worst I've seen him look.
  9. The Rangers situation this year is different from the 2003 Sox. Texas has some good young everyday players that will get better with experience. Like everyone else, they are in need of pitching. Their everyday lineup is young and solid. They are not in a "must win now" mode like we are.
  10. Some things never change. :headshake
  11. Thanks for the report on the interview, guys.
  12. This thread is unbelievable. Jon Rauch gave us EXACTLY what we needed in that game yesterday. That is what you hope for from your fifth starter. I'll take that all year long and be thrilled about it.
  13. I know that in Prior's first two starts he was very good in the first one and very bad in the second. If he is somewhere in betwen that, we should be able to rough him up a bit.
  14. The Stros HAVE to get Biggio out of CF. He's horrid out there.
  15. I agree. Trading Maggs and prospects for Guardado, Garcia and Finly would drastically improve this team. I don't see Seattle pulling the trigger on this unless they feel that they can turn Maggs over and get get more for him than they could for the two pitchers.
  16. I think that if the Sox are struggling, the Chicago area fans have it worse. They have to put up with all the Cub fan bulls*** and watch the team's failings on a nightly basis. Conversely, if the team is going great, us out of towners have to be happy with enjoying the Sox successes from an outsider's perspective. I can tell you that I long to be there under any circumstances, but it really tugs on the old heartstrings when the team is going ballistic on the league. I'd love to be there to share and enjoy the excitement with all you "townies".
  17. Yes. There's no doubt in my mind that KW will do something. He always has made moves about this time of year. Unlike Schuler, who was afraid to pull the trigger on any midseason deal or was too infatuated with his own "prospects".
  18. The Sox PA announcer should, after a thrown back home run, announce in his best Sam Wyche voice.... Do not litter the playing field. You're on the south side, not the north side! Act like it!
  19. I couldn't agree, more. But there has always been lumbering oxen in the big leagues and there always will be. We happen to have one that's a pretty good hitter. Carry on with the backhanded shots.
  20. Because they don't read Soxtalk?
  21. He ended up with 29 retired in a row.
