I watched Garcia pitch at Texas back in May. He shut out the formidable Ranger offense for 7 innings before tiring in the 8th and they got to him and the bullpen for a 3 spot. That was one of his losses, but it was a damn impressive performance.

To the people b****ing about this trade, just remember this. One of the teams in mix for Garcia was none other than Minnesota. Now, I'm sure you would have all b****ed if that happened too.

One more thought. Someone said that KW acting like the cat that swallowed the canary when it came to the possibility of Garcia signing an extension. If you recall, there was a certain #1 pitcher that Reinsdorf gave Williams some payroll freedom to sign, but that Tub-oGoo elected to go to Anahiem. Maybe, just maybe, that same money is still available to KW and JR has given the okay that Garcia is a suitable replacement.

I agree. Randy Johnson will finish the season with D'Backs. I've never had any delusions about him agreeing to come to the Sox. It ain't happenin'.

After several hours of letting this trade sink in, I generally like it. I don't think KW overpaid for Garcia. I was never all that enamored with Jeremy Reed. I think Borchard is our best insurance if Magglio walks. In fact, I wish he was patrolling RF everyday while Maggs is on the DL. Olivo is a great kid. However, when Buehrle requested Burke catch for him rather than Olivo, I mentally questioned the reasoning for that. That was a sign that something just wasn't kosher. It was something that kind of fell through the cracks, as it was not an event of major impact at the time. But, still, it caused me to proverbially raise my eyebrows. As far as Morse goes, whatever. The suspension probably played into him being a part of this deal. The Sox have the kid they got for Koch, plus a couple of higher round draft picks at short from the last two drafts. We've been screaming for a pitcher. Garcia was the best available and we got him. I was stunned when it was Olivo that was traded, but no one saw that coming. At least, no one speculated about here or in the media. This trade was the first step in KW putting together what he feels can be a championship caliber roster. Someone mentioned that KW has been talking to Pittsburg. If so, I'm thinking either Kendall/Benson or Kendall/Wells could be heading this way. I have no clue what it would take to get one of these pairs, but it's intriguing, to say the least. One possibility of acquiring a catcher that hasn't been mentioned yet, but just might be doable .... IRod. Just a thought on my part, no inside info or rumors here.

You can add Miguel Olivo to the list of players that have been publically dissed on their way out of town. It's the Reinsdorf way. I mentioned this in an article on whitesoxcentral a few weeks ago.
