  1. You are absolutely correct with the thinking that if Sandy goes down, we will be hurting.
  2. Andruw Jones is a risk, that's for sure. The guy could end up in the HOF ----- or ------ He's put on some weight since last year. I'd guess about 20 lbs. I've heard he was trying to add bulk to get stronger, but that can be so much spin. Has he gotten lazy since he's got that fat contract? Does he need a change of scene to get him excited about playing baseball again? I don't know the amswers to these questions, but it's about a $40million gamble.
  3. Agreed. And as for Olivo's OPS vs LHP, we have enough RH pop to cover that against lefties.
  4. I would still say no. The Sox need an additional LH bat, not a replacement for Jose. I'm not talking an Adam Kennedy type bat, either.
  5. Very insightful article, but I think he is seriously overstating the potential of a White Sox demise if this doesn't get the Sox into the Series.
  6. All that we need from Alomar & Co is solid defense and game calling with a little offensive contribution. I would not at all be upset if the plan was to go with our current catchers the rest of the way.
  7. Jose Valentin is the player we can least afford to trade as the team is currently structured.
  8. Aboz has some good points. Kendall is good offensive player, but is somewhat on the weak side defensively and his handling of ppitchers has been questioned, if memory serves me correctly. We need a solid defensive catcher if only as a late inning replacement and to give Sandy a breather. Burke's flexibility gives Ozzie some options, too. Kendall's good, but that's a lot of jack they are paying him. Also, I'm not sure MLB rules would allow Pittsburg to pay any of his salary beyond this year. They can send enough cash to cover the rest of this year's salary, but the Sox would have the whole enchilada beyond that.
  9. That must have been outstanding, since Durham was a 2B (4).
  10. That is a prime example of Cub fan "logic".
  11. You got your numbers reversed. Plus, Maggs wants 5 years and Jones is signed for only 3 more.
  12. That is so much BS on Seattle's part. They determined several weeks ago that they were not going to attempt to resign Garcia.
  13. What you happen to THINK and what you happen to BELIEVE is irrelevent. Just because you think and/or believe this stuff does not make it a fact. You seem to consider things you think and/or believe as being carved in stone, and therefore base a lot of your arguments on those non-existant facts.
  14. I'd bet Olivo's in the line up tonight.
  15. C'mon guys. Get real. Estrada? Martinez? Nobody gives away young stud catchers. Ummmmmmmm ... Wait a minute.

    What's sarcastic about that comment?
  17. Timo has stated that he thinks a lot of Sosa and that it was not intended to show him up. Timo getting into Zambrano's head on the bases reminds me of Valentin using the Sammy imitation to mind f*** the Cubs a few years ago.
  18. Normally, I consider intangibles like that as wishful thinking. But, in this case, I'm like you. I think there is something to this possibility.
  19. Wait. Aren't you the same Brando that's been literally SCREAMING that the Sox need to trade for a good pitcher?
