  1. Throw in the possibility of more rain outs and the necessity of make-up doubleheaders, it can be a rough way to go.

    ROAD TRIP!

At Mammoth Cave, you are very close to Nashville, TN. If you like country music at all, it can be an interesting place to go.
  3. No one is going to tell me that the majority of the citizens of the states of Alabama and Mississippi were in favor of integration in the early 1960's. If you say that they were you are either an idiot or a liar. Yet, against the will of the majority of the people of those states, they were forced to eliminate segregation. Should the wishes of the majority have been the last word on this issue? Not in my opinion. Think what you want, but the majority is not always right. Period. If this country was truly based on a simple philosophy of majority rules, we would have gone down the tubes years ago.
  4. And now we have a one game lead. Not too shabby!
  5. With USCF surrendering more HR's than even Coors Field, you'd have to expect our ERA's to be somewhat higher.
  6. I'm kinda questioning this decision by Ozzie. The Cubs have seen Diaz just last weekend. I think it may be beneficial to have Rauch get his shot at them. Rauch was the more effective of the two at AAA. Either way, it's a toss up.
  7. Technicalities. We would effectively get squat for Maggs. The draft picks could not possibly be any higher than #16 overall and a sandwich pick after thefirst round.
  8. Cabrera is not and should not even be on the Sox radar. I think we'll get another good year or two out of Jose. We have Uribe, and if he can't cut we just got that SS for Koch. Then we had a couple of good SS out of last years draft.
  9. Why wait. Alomar was going to have to catch him eventually. It also gives the Sox braintrust the insight of a proven veteran catcher as to what Garcia brings to the table. Nothing wrong with Alomar catching this game, imho.
  10. There has been a tendency to reward good set up men at All Star time. With a 1.19 ERA, I don't see any reason he shouldn't go.
  11. I think Rowand should get the majority of the playing time, though not a vast majority. Timo should start all games that there is a tough righty on the mound, as a minimum. Rowand's getting to be solid, but those good RHP's will have him overmatched.
  12. What do you think guys? Does Shingo make the All-Star game?
  13. Ozzie and Coop may have found a role that Politte can thrive in, or Politte may just be pitching well for now only to return to his inconsistant stuff of the past. We'll have to see how it plays out. I'd sure like to see another quality reliever just in case this doesn't pan out. Occasionally, the starters will get through the 7th inning, so it shouldn't even be close to an everyday thing for Politte.
  14. Bartolo Colon is old news around here. We have a younger and better Freddie Garcia to head up the staff, now. I'm all for looking ahead, optimistically. It's much more fun than looking back with regret.
  15. I was searching for the right word. It still hasn't come to me.
  16. And a very insightful and appropriate first post it was! Welcome to Soxtalk!
  17. Somebody needs to lock this thread before it gets any more bizarre.
  18. Good. We'll finally get to see the results of the Phillies YNOT.
  19. Sandy said that Garcia needs to throw more fastballs and attack the hitters more. I think they'll get him into attack mode very soon. He'll have confidence that he can attack and if he gives one up, it won't cost him the game.
  20. Shingo Sucks! Cheap ass JR and KW buying a Japenese retread that can't throw hardenough to break glass. Shingo's been awesome. No one expected him to be anything close to being this good. Time to start a new streak, Mr. Zero.
  21. I hate to burst anybody's bubble, but if we don't come up with a lefty RBI producer, those playoff quality RHP are going to beat us in the playoffs. It's only been happening on a consistant basis, through the regular seasons, since the 2000 playoffs.
  22. Jose is what Jose is. You take the good with the bad. In the long run, the good will greatly outweigh the bad and Jose will, once again, have proven to be a very valuable asset to the Sox.
  23. I agree. Against the best, you have to go with your best. No need in taking a chance on them pulling one out of thier ass and swinging the momentum to them for the next two weeks. While you got down on the ground, stomp the hell out of them. Kapisch?
  24. Sure Jason, just kill it in the middle of the night. No one is online at that time. Just kidding. Do what you gotta do. We all appreciate the effort you guys put into maintaining this site.
