  1. I can't see why people expect a pitcher that has spent a vast majority of his career in the AL to be able to do anything productive with his bat. Any advanced runner, base it or whatever is a pure bonus. Why filet' a guy for trying, when you should have no reasonable expectation of any success at all?
  2. Reed may very well be a damn good ballplayer, but based on talent, Joe Borchard has a MUCH greater upside. We nusred Borchard along till he is just about ready to make a contribution in Chicago. I don't want to give up on this guy now. Someone said Reed has been compared to Palmeiro, but the only one I've seen him compared to is Kotsay. That's a helluva difference. I'd like to keep Reed, but if moving him proves to be necessary to get a good starting pitcher, then do it. However, I want someone that is already under contract for 2005.
  3. Loaiza piched 8 innings and gave up 1 f***ing run. Yeah. He's the reason we lost tonight. :headshake
  4. I noticed that 3-4-5 guys in the lineup took the collar tonight. Harris and Uribe have hit a bump in the road. Timo produced tonight in the leadoff spot, yet we couldn't push him around.
  5. Rowand is not a bad ballplayer.
  6. Exactly. As far as rent-a-players go, Finley is the perfect fit to the Sox.
  7. Happy trails, Billy Koch. Until we meet again, that is. I'm sure if you ever take the mound against us, we'll be glad to see you there.
  8. I'd really like to get an outfielder that actually can play centerfield, as opposed to Everett.
  9. Exactly. This isn't rocket science here. If you have a righthanded domininant lineup and continually get shut down by good RH pitchers, you can assume that the trend will continue unless you make some changes. Brando a closet Cub fan? No. Brando is a knowledable baseball fan and a Sox fan that can face reality.
  10. New ad campaign reawakens 'Sox Pride' Are you guys picking up on this feeling at the Cell?
  11. Thanks for the info and welcome to Soxtalk.
  12. 2nd attempt: Williams ready to pull trigger?
  13. I've lived in the "North" and the "South". Both places have their share of societal misfits. So get off your holier than kick.
  14. This is definitely a "no win" situation. We can't negotiate. We can't prevent it. We can't retaliate in kind.
  15. Old Comiskey The Cell Wrigley Busch Ballpark at Arlington (Ameriquest?) Old Tiger Stadium
  16. I really don't follow this line of thinking. What does race have to do with this?

I can't quote the source, as it was several days ago, but I was under the impression that there were some guys in the Sox clubhouse that were less than thrilled with Mr. Rauch. Clarification: My "source" was a media outlet. I just don't remember where I read it. The way I worded that made it sound like someone on the inside told me this. This is not the case.
  18. It was cool to see one of our own soxtalkers get some positive ink.
  19. It's good to see that wrist injury had no lingering effects this year. Way to go Brian. Congrats.
  20. If Crede can duplicate those numbers in the last half of June, he'll be at .240 by the end of the month. It's conceivable that he can reach .250 by the break.
  21. It's good to get him in fold. Has anybody seen a picture of this guy? I hope he's a freckle faced redhead ... we could nickname him "Strawberry" Fields. I'm sorry. I should probably delete that, but I'm too damn lazy.
