  1. Garland will be fine. All of his weaknesses appear to be the type that can be overcome by maturity. He's getting there.
  2. I think Juggernaut has too much time on his hands.
  3. It seems to me, that if the Expos, of all teams, released him, then his value is close to non-existant.
  4. To the idiot that thinks the word "Sox" should only be used by Boston fans ... I say look at the front of the home uniforms of both teams and tell me which team is the "Sox" Moron.
  5. That's not usually my take on things. But, I can see nothing to get excited about with this signing.
  6. Carlos "getting his head on straight" was more along the lines of him maturing as a big league ballplayer. People wanted to give him away last off season. It takes time for these guys to grow and develope into quality MLB players. The next guy who will step up is Jon Garland. It's his time.
  7. It seems like a reasonably good and fair signing to me. As hard as Carlos has worked to improve his play, I'm glad the Sox chose to reward him rather than take him to arbitration.
  8. In fact, Magglio was the 2nd highest rated RF'er in the AL in terms of range factor. He had one play in a crucial game that in my mind he appeared to misjudge a line drive, and many assumed he was dogging it. Maggs has always been an above average RF'er.
  9. Again, we have a difference of opinion. I am of the opinion that JR is reaping the benefits of being in a large market, but acting like he's in a small market. And you, sir, can spare me the all knowing, never mistaken attitude you present, at times. I've always tried to treat you with respect, and have considered your viewpoints respectfully, even if I didn't happen to agree with them.

    A's trade?

With Harris, flip a coin. But Rowand, I believe, will be a pleasant surprise for you. This is one kid I really like his approach to the game and I think he's got enough talent to be a valueable, not an all-star, starting outfielder.
  11. I can't imagine the Sox ever bringing Ritchie back. He was such a miserable failure the first time around.

    A's trade?

Ok. I'll go along with that.
  13. Cotts and Maggs for Mota and Perez? What have you been smoking? If KW did that, I'd fire his ass immediately.
  14. I wasn't talking about the Dodgers. I was talking about Evans. If he doesn't get this done, he's done as GM of LA. KW probably does not have that immediate pressure hanging over him. So, yes, Evans' back is more firmly pressed against the wall than KW's.

    A's trade?

I stand by my statement that he'll be a very solid pitcher. Reference Farmer's remarks, JG is still young and still learning how to pitch in the bigs. Just look back at where most of today's big gun pitchers were when at Garland's age.

    A's trade?

That's your opinion. I've seen flashes of what he can and have faith that he will turn into a very solid big league starting pitcher.
  17. They can go to hell with that offer. Evans back is as much, if nor more than Kw's, against the wall. He needs a bat as much as we need pitching, and Magglio is one of the top 3 RF's in the game. As for Mota, I'd restructure the deal without him but they'd have to give us 2 of those 4 prospects and one would have to Jackson or Miller.

    A's trade?

I was referring to Colon and Buehrle as our Aces last year. I still am very high on JG. I also think MB will rebound this year and put up some much improved numbers.
  19. Yep. I think they've milked for all it's worth.
  20. I really don't give a crap what Cub fans think. That's the absolute least of my worries. I think it would be an absolutely marvelous dig.
  21. That's putting things into the proper perspective. Woe to be a mistreated, overpaid baseball superstar.
  22. Sounds like Morrisey hit it right on the nose, to me. Certainly, with this remark:

    A's trade?

Exactly. That's kinda what you expect from an "Ace". Someone who take the responsibilty as the stopper ... all season long. Not just the second half.
  24. I think Cotts may need a little more seasoning in AAA. If Rauch is still with us, I look for him to nail down a starters slot if we don't pick up someone else.
